Ice and Gold skins
By Keplyx
In this very easy guide, I'll show you how to transform a player model into ice (spy-cycle kill effect) or gold (golden frying pan kill effect).
I'll make a new version of this guide with a method to add skins, and not replace them. But will be harder as you have to decompile models.

What we're going to do: replace the ubercharge .vmt's with the ice_player.vmt (or gold).
What we're going to use: no special tools requiered.

We will replace the blu or red invulnerablity by the ice or gold, but if you want to use the ubercharge skins, you can switch back to them at anytime by doing the invert process.

First, go to
"[Steam Directory]\steamapps\common\SourceFilmmaker\game\tf\materials\models\player"
I really recommend doing a backup of the player folder, so you'll be able to switch back to the ubercharge skins.

Go to the shared folder and copy "gold_player.vmt" (if you want a golden player) or "ice_player.vmt" (if you want an iced player).

Past your files 3 times on the player folder

Now open the folder of your class, and look for "eyeball_invun.vmt",
"[Your Class]_red_invun.vmt", and "[Your Class]_head_red_invun.vmt" (see the chapter "Specific class" of this guide for more imformations). Those are the files we are going to replace (you can of course, choose the blu ones).

You have to replace the names of the files you've just copied by those ones.

Then drag and drop them into the folder of your class. It will ask you if you want to replace the original files: Make sure you made a backup and select "replace" or "yes".

Now lauch SFM, load your player model and change it's skin to the one you've modified (2 if you replaced the red ubercharge or 3 if it was the blu one). The eyes for the 2 ubercharges are the same, so if you replace one by ice, and the other by gold, the two will have the same eyes (either gold or ice).
Class specific
  • For the sniper, you'll have to also replace "sniper_lens_invuln.vmt".
  • For the enginneer, as he don't have eyes, the file "eyeball_invun.vmt" does not exist.
  • For the pyro, as he has a mask, the files "eyeball_invun.vmt" and "pyro_head_red_invun.vmt" does not exists.

The heavy and the scout are not working and the medic's pack stays ubercharged, I don't know why but I'll try to find a fix.

If you find any errors (apart from those 3 ones), or if you find how to fix the heavy, scout and medc, tell me in the comments (and don't forget to rate!).
Hats
If you want to change the skin of a hat, it's basically the same thing. Just go to
"[Steam Directory]\steamapps\common\SourceFilmmaker\game\tf\materials\models\player\items", go in the folder of your class and search for the name of your item.
Once you find it, past "ice_player.vmt" or "gold_player.vmt" and rename it by the name of your hat's .vmt. Make sure to make a backup of the player folder, then replace the original file by the one you just renamed, just like for the player models.
