Silky Smooth 60fps Guide!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOTE: Results may vary depending on your system specs, use mine as a baseline and work your ingame options from there, this should help you make the game run better without screen tearing, random fps drops or stutter.

silky smooth 60 fps!

Okay so this game is very poorly optimized, after messing around a lot with in game options and nvidia control panel options I finally managed to get this game running smooth.

My specs:

Win10
i7-5820k @ 3.30GHz
16Gb RAM
msi GTX 980
Screen Resolution 1080p

What I did:

Nvidia control panel/Catalyst Control Center Options:

maximum pre-rendered frames set to 2
power management set to prefer maximum performance
Negative LOD bias set to clamp
threaded optimization set to on
triple buffering set to on
vsync set to on

Ingame settings:

all maxed out except;
physx particles Off
Shadows set to very high instead of soft shadows
antialiasing set to txaa 2x
vsync ingame off

Third Party Programs:

I also use 2 third party programs which I think help achieve a smooth performance:

Riva tuner statistics server with a frame limit at 60Hz
D3dOverrider with forced vsync and triple buffering

The game is running very smooth, without any stuttering or screen tearing, at last! it was hard, but finaly managed it.

Hope this helps someone out!

(alternate link - http://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/84-d3doverrider/ - in this link you already have D3D Overrider extracted from the Riva Tuner Suite - Recommended)

(NOTE: If you only want D3dOverrider, as I do, and not the whole suite, Install it, browse to the directory you installed it in, search for a folder named tools, there you should find D3dOverrider,
copy it to another location and uninstall the suite

I have a Ryzen 9 7950X3D and RTX 3090. I hope this will help me run it.

triple buffering through d3d or nvidia driver does the same thing it will only enable on open GL titles , forcing triple buffering through windows works cause how windows handles exclusive fullscreen apps its already using it for the desktop thats why that works

Sadly yes, even in 2023 with my 3080 the game stutters and hiccups unless I disable PhysX particles.

Thanks, I get 35 fps with an old rtx 580 - that's enough fps for me :steamhappy:

Hi @lcknighten, maybe some memory leak? don't know if ubi have patched this game since my guide or not, but usually when performance drops with in-game time it is some kind of memory leak.
Hope you sort things out, you can now also lock fps on NVIDIA control panel or AMD equivalent, try locking it there to 60, or a number that should be stable with your build.
best of luck!

I used the recommended settings here for the in game settings. It seemed to work for half an hour. Now it is back to stuttering and freezing. I didn't do any of the out of game changes recommended here though. I'm just going to cross my fingers that Ubi-Soft eventually does a fix for this. That, or finally gives us a remastered version of the game.
