Getting Started
This is a guide that will help you with the Conservation achievement. The list includes all 47 animals with map locations.



Make sure you do these things before going on this journey:
  • Have 8 Animal Traps

  • Bring DDog with you to the animals that can be extracted via fulton.

  • A cheap loadout (The reason for this is that you will be going in and out of the zones a lot to see what you've captured and each deployment costs money, make sure you take as less as possible with you)
Gerbil

This is pretty much the most common animal in the game. You'll eventually end up with thousands of them.

Rarity: Common

Location: Everywhere

Method: Tranq Pick-up/Trap
Long-eared hedgehog

Commonly found in Afghanistan, you'll either come across one of these in the wild or via using animal traps. Not too hard to come across.

Rarity: Uncommon

Location: Afghanistan

Four-toed Hedgehog

Commonly found in Africa. You'll find these guys in forested areas.

Rarity: Uncommon

Location: East/South/Central Africa

Afghan Pika

Plant animal traps in the zone shown at the location and you'll surely return to motherbase with one or more of these cute fellas.

Rarity: Rare

Common Raven

Hence the name It is very common. Can be found both in Africa and Afghanistan. Either found flying or with animal traps.

Can be found in Africa easily by planting traps.

Easily obtainable through planting traps on the water stream near Aabe Shifap Ruins.

Can be seen flying near Quarya Sakra Ee

Lappet-faced Vulture

Can be found in the burned village northeast of Mfinda Oilfield in Mission No. 13. Also can be found flying near Kungenga Mine.

Can be found flying near Munoka Ya Nioko Station in Mission No. 24

Can be found walking around in any of the locations in the picture during daytime. As common as it gets.

Very commonly found in both Africa and Afghanistan during daytime but if you couldn't find one yet, check the zone located in Africa.

Grant's Zebra

Can be found in Africa either near Nova Braga Airport or Ditadi Abandoned Village. Go to these locations during daytime and you'll see them in packs.

Gray Wolf

Can be found in the area shown only at night

Can be easily found in Mission No. 20 near Ngumba Industrial Zone, West Guard Post

Side-striped Jackal

Can be found in the location shown only at night. Beware as they travel in packs.

Anubis

Can be captured in Side Ops No. 50. Travels with a pack of other Jackals.

Two of them can be found near the ruins in Side Ops No. 147. Otherwise can be found in the location below.
Approach with caution... These brown bears mean business.

Himalayan Brown Bear

Can be obtained from Side Ops No. 48. This bear has a distinctive white color that seperates it from the commonly known bears. Apprehend from a distance or you'll enter a world of pain.

Deathstalker

The deathstalker is regarded as the most dangerous species of scorpion. Can be commonly found everywhere in Afghanistan, try the desert for a greater chance.

Emperor Scorpion

It is one of the largest scorpions in the world. Glows Blue under a UV light. Can be obtained by putting traps in Savannas and Rainforests in Africa. Caution, will cause destruction by Its nature.

Oriental Rattlesnake

Not as poisonous as its cousin the Black Mamba it can be found scattered around mountainous areas of the map, you'll have to try your luck and keep those fingers crossed.

Rarity: Uncommon

Black Mamba

Can be found in most locations in Africa that has a water source nearby. Deadly Beautiful.

This Ultra Rare Legend can be captured by planting traps in the area shown in the picture below.

Rainbow Agama

Not as uncommon as you might think, probably the easiest obtainable animal of the uncommon rarity. Hint, found in rocky areas.

Rarity: Uncommon

Namaqua Chameleon

You'll be happy you found this little reptile, one of the mid-high tier rare animals. You can randomly find one throughout the map but you will have a higher chance using this guide.

Leopard Gecko

Not going to lie, if you've been playing since release your mother base should be packed to the brim with these things, but if you haven't even found one... I guess it hasn't been your week, try rocky areas within Afghanistan.

Rarity: Common

African Fat-tailed Gecko

Even though the game says this animal is common, It's not. Land your helicopter on the zone shown in the link. If you can't land there, go there on foot and destroy their anti-air radar which will allow you to use that LZ. After landing put traps on the rocky hill that the helicopter lands and hope for the best.

African Bullfrog

This specimen in particular is found within swampy areas, just a couple of cages in the designated area and you will have caught this Amphibian.

Russian Tortoise

Hard to find, most people think this tortoise was given the wrong rarity but easily obtainable within the area in the picture, just plant your cages on top of the grassy areas that have formed around the desert.

Rarity: Uncommon

Leopard Tortoise

This animal has no pinpoint location but your chances are higher by landing at Luftwa Valley LZ and planting traps through the other LZ point. May require a couple of tries.

Bechstein's Bat

Found in every cave within the game, but probably deploying some cages within them at night time would increase your chances.

Rarity: Common

Location: Africa/Afghanistan

Rock Hyrax

Plant traps on the area shown and you'll surely end up with various numbers of this animal.

Rarity: Rare

Location: Africa

Tree Pangolin

Is found in woodland areas thus the name, just plant your Animal Cages within the area as shown in the picture and you will surely capture one.

Rarity: Super Rare

Location: Africa

Sand Cat

Plant traps in the area shown and end up with the cutest feline there is.

Rarity: Rare

Location: Afghanistan

Caracal

Plant traps in the area shown to capture these wild cats.

African Civet

Go to the area shown and plant traps to capture these fluffy creatures.

Marsh Mongoose

Plant traps to the location shown to obtain these little mammals. Be very careful, these guys have the nickname ''Snake Eater'' for a reason.

Red Fox

Plant traps around the area shown in the picture to obtain one of the greatest animals alive. Mascot of Foxhound and conqueror of our hearts.

Blandford's Fox

Differs Itself from Its cousin ''Red Fox'' with features such as, long ears and a slimmer body. Can be obtained by putting traps in the area shown, just spread your cages out.

Honey Badger

Last animal on the list, either you are just about finished or you cheated and started from the bottom, what do I care, hope you didn't have any trouble with the rest because this last one is pretty much as simple as it can get, just go and plant some cages.

Might have already been said, but I've been able to consistently find black storks in mission 21. 3 around Nova Braga and 1 near the LZ.

Green Bean mentioned this as well, but the Leopard Tortoise can be reliably caught during Mission 14 - Lingua Franca. Look for where the Viscount is being held, and set your traps by the palm trees a few steps away from there.
