Harder They Fall - 100 kills the easy way (NO CHEATING!)
By shattered fractal and 1 collaborators
People hate grinding this achievement, mostly because it sucks. You get a game after waiting in a loooong queue, and then you might get 1 or 2 kills, if you're lucky.

There's an easier way: the right map, the right friend (1 or more), and the right place to hide.

Overview
This achievement is best accomplished with a friend, in a private match. My games were played on Antiguo, and I learned a lot about that map in a short time - but the two most important things I learned are that there are places where the bot will never find you, and if you don't kill divers, the game will apparently never end. This means you can accomplish a lot of kills in just one game if you're serious about grinding it quickly.

This guide focuses on three simple points:
  • You will select only the Antigo map
  • You will play on a private server with at least one friend
  • You will set bots to medium difficulty and then avoid them while you play

Pre-game setup
If you haven't set up a private game before, this is what the screen should look like before you begin the game:

When you click on the "choose maps" button you'll have 5 choices, all of which should be checked by default. Uncheck every map except Antiguo. This will result in your game being played only on the Antiguo map.

If your bots are set to "passive" or "easy" then Megalodon kills will not tally; at "medium" (and presumably hard as well) they will count toward your total kills needed.

You will also need at least 1 person in your lobby; playing bot-only games will not result in tallied kills. Invite a friend who is willing to help you gain this achievement; for the fastest progress you want the game to last as long as possible, trading kill for kill with the other player. I've gotten to over 25,000 score in this mode, as it seems never to end until the mega kills a diver. You can destroy as much of the environment as you wish, and collect as much gold, too - as long as you don't kill a diver.

Worthy of note is that when a bot kills the mega, a player will become the shark. This applies to both the first kill of the game, and during the entire remainder of the match.
Starting spawns and hide-and-shark location
The diver spawn on Antiguo is always the same: there's a bridge over a chasm directly in front of the structure STEVE enters when you're in a B&G match. This bridge is the key to your success, as well as your shark graveyard, so learn the map well enough that you can easily find your way back here when it's your turn to be the shark. Fast swimming = fast progress.

Starting shark spawn and typical bot-shark behavior means that divers should go around the pyramid to the right, then down, in order to encounter the shark fast. It's pretty easy to just follow the bots, because they will go straight for him. My experience is that the mega will kill 3-4 bots before dying, so you want to be number 4 on-scene and have good aim.

If one of you doesn't kill the mega first, then one of you will become the mega, and it's now your job to find that bridge and wriggle up underneath it as quickly as possible to await your killer:

Bot Behaviors
As the diver during the time that your shark friend is hiding, you will see odd bot behavior. I don't remember if this is the case on hard bot setting or if they are more competent, but on medium setting you will see a diver frenzy near the entrance to the pyramid on top of the bridge under which the mega hides:

The bots will never deviate from this behavior, which means you have forever. However, the game will time a player out for inactivity after about 60 seconds, so as the shark, make sure you are chatting or moving a little bit. When the shark player has timed out in my games, the next kill has been the endgame kill, since there's only 1 player left.

Just swim to the surface and keep moving upwards some distance from the bot divers, they will swarm underneath Stubbs and never move from there. I've had them chasing me and do that on Antiguo.
Arms Race & Underdog achievements
Because of the indolent bot behaviors while the mega is hiding, you can also easily pop the Arms Race (first player to reach explosive harpoon in a megalodon hunt) and Underdog (kill the megalodon without any help) achievements.

You know what weapon you currently have equipped by the picture on the lower right of your screen, and what weapon you will trade up for by the picture and arrow on the lower left. When there is no more picture on the lower left, it means you are fully upgraded with the EH.

Just cruise the map and pick up gold at your leisure until you have what you want. This is best done after several shark kills have been scored, because gold spawns faster as the game goes on longer. I've found that 8 kills or so into a game, gold spawn is fast enough to easily get the EH, and since the bot will be chasing the shark rather than collecting gold, it's pretty easy to be first to max armament.

NOTE: While friendly fire is turned off in megalodon matches, you can (and will) kill yourself with the EH if you're too close to the explosion. You've been warned :)
"It's a secret!"
For many years, video games have held secrets either intentionally placed by devs, or unintentionally discovered by players over the course of play. These can be fun to play around with, and find odd game behaviors, and often yeild learning as to NPC behaviors, map design, and possible ingame tactics.

As the Overview text hints at, there are indeed other places on this map - and presumably others - where bots either will not find you, or apparently cannot access. Here's a hint: one of them is out of the shark spawn: turn left and go downward into the canyon, then look along the wall upon which the site rests, under one of the corner megaliths:

While both the shark and the diver can get in, the diver can go so far in that the shark cannot reach him... and the bots cannot reach the shark from the outside.

I'm fairly certain that this location is not intentionally placed and that using it during an actual match would be bad form (at least), and possibly considered an exploit (at worst), but as far as "seeing the world" in any game, it's interesting to find such spots.

If you find others and want to share obscure diving/tourist spots, SS your location and add me, and I'll add content to this guide as appropriate; maybe one day a "tourist" guide will come out of this.

Shark safe zone, Olmec
Thanks to Jynn for the following info and screencaps (added 1-20-17):

In the Olmec map, as Megalodon if you swim away from the temple and over the chasm, the bots will not follow. They just swim around in circles at the edge of the chasm.

Also, the shark spawns on the edge of the chasm, so it's easy to just turn around and swim farther out, never encountering bots at all.

Thanks for looking!
If this guide has been helpful to you please rate it up so that others can easily find it, too.

Have fun gaming guys, and remember to try new things while you play; variety is the spice of life.

Thanks especially to Jesterphobia and Slamoo for help in reaching this achievement... and sooo many games we spent learning what works, why it does, and how to replicate successes. Where would we be without friends? :)

heres my tip you actually want Olmec for the map as you can glitch out the AI when you go into the "void" and they will start to spin in one spot rappidly when this happens they will no longer leave that spot or attack the shark unless they are swam over top of eliminating travel time for the shark to a "safe spot"

A few tips for people trying to get this cheive using this method
-It's not going to be quick. I had 60 something kills already and it still took me and my mate 2 hours to do just for me
-You are not invulnerable from the bots underneath the bridge. They can still shoot at you while moving towards the bridge. Watch out for the explosive harpoon
-Killing a bot or a player as megalodon will end the game immediatly. Found this out the hard way when I accidently grabbed a bot while moving towards the bridge
-Staying still when not the host as megalodon waiting for your mate to get the explosive harpoon or to find the bridge will result in a kick for inactivity. So move about a bit. Spin in circles. That kind of thing
Hope this helps

Balaam's ass i never saw him without a diver bot around thats the problem

Underdog is for killing the Mega with NO help (or damage) from other divers. If he's hurt at all, you won't get that achievement. Easiest way is (or at least, used to be) to play up to where you have explosive harpoon, wait for him to respawn, and whack him then.

Anywhere along the chasm works, nto just one spot. As long as you are sitting over that big canyon, they stay on the ledge. If you get too close to the ledge, they'll fire at you, but if you stay in the open water above the rift they won't
