Advantages & Disadvantages: New Players
By swift
Hey, Ghost here with yet another guide for my A&D series! Now, for this topic we're going to discuss about the new players, also known as "noobs". While new players can be frustrating to the experienced players in hard difficulties and competitive modes, they can also benefit you. Now, lets not waste anymore time and start off with the advantages!

Advantages
1: Most new players are open to listen to your instructions and advice.
Before you kick that guy with 30 hours, give him a chance. He might be willing to learn from you and follow your lead on whatever you do. And who knows, maybe you both can be friends after the match. People with open ears and mind are likely to succeed.

2: Most new players are sometimes more kinder than others
Most of the time, you won't get much kindness from a pro. However, since a noob is inexperienced and doesn't know what to do in the game, they'll give the team positive energy, making everyone comfortable with making a mistake. People may not know how this is an advantage but, this gives a mental benefit for the whole game.
Disadvantages
1. They don't have any experience
Guys, how many times have you encountered a new player on a versus game and they only have 0.8 hours? Yes, yes, I know what I said earlier about giving the noob a chance but, versus mode is an exception. Even if they follow what you say, they don't know the inside outs of the campaign.

2. Some of them can be annoying to your team
Everyone can be annoying but, I find the noobs to be the most annoying. This is a disadvantage because whenever they make a huge mistake and they tell them what they did wrong and not to do it again, they typically respond, "Chill out man, it's just a game." Even when you're not yelling at them and calmly speaking to them, this will be the response you'll get most of the time. I don't mean to generalize and I apologize if I do but again, this is what I see most of the time I play with new players.

3. They don't know most terms and/or spots for DCs
Whenever you're on the finale on No Mercy and in a close game and depend on a death charge and the noob gets it, they either don't know what that is, do whatever they want, or miss it wildly. The missing can be acceptable because hey, it's the effort that counts. However, if they don't know where the spots are and don't know what the terms are, how are they going to be able to help the team out?
Conclusion
In conclusion, noobs shouldn't be viewed as entirely bad, nor should they be allowed to do whatever they want whenever they want when given instructions or advice. I'm sorry for the short guide in this series but that's what the comments are for. Please, PLEASE give me some feedback, suggestions, or past experiences with new players in the comments section. Also, if you don't like this guide or agree with it, also leave a comment below so it can help me in the future with my other guides.

Riolu stfu you retarded pig, you don't even have an achiement according to your steam level, wich btw, is not hidden no matter what.

I wanted to give realism a try, but literally everyone there is a fucking noob. They have slow reaction timing, no team awareness, and cant defend themselves. It is really annoying, and I have yet to meet a full realism team that knows what they are doing.

I haven't played much on PC.

Mostly on Xbox, i've played.
People need to consider that.

So, in short, Noobs are basically the "Ellis" of the team.

As an noob myself, i took my heavy time and have read some various guides, may it be common mistakes or what not to do. Yet in any public Campain game I was so far, either in Normal or Easy, I got kicked once. No idea why.

I would check their profile to see if they're just joking, but if they really do have less than 10 hrs, I would tell them to play single-player or campaign nicely and ask them to leave. If they refuse, I'll call a votekick.

Forgot to ask -- what do you do when someone with less than 10 hours in game joins to expert realism and then asks "how do u jump?"
HK-47 23 Sep, 2015 @ 3:48pm
Most new players think they can jump straight to expert difficulty if they know how to aim a weapon (usually people coming from other FPS games who don't understand that L4D is not a simple point-and-shoot FPS, that it has additional rules, and that it can be quite unpredictable because of AI Director).

What they don't know (or don't care) that they don't know is:

- maps
- spawn rooms
- spawn points for specials
- special infected skills
- insta-kill and other unsafe spots
- infected ladders (you learn this in versus which you can practice with bots)
- crescendo events
- game mechanics

All of that can be learned with time, but one thing that some people lack and can't learn is situational awareness which is a key skill for being good at this game. Other key skills are using the environment to your benefit, and military tactics 101 -- chokepoints, higher ground, etc, which so many people are clueless about, yet they won't listen to advice.
