SolarPanel I/O plug

Description
This modification changes the upper plug of solarmodules AND mmrtgs to INPUT.

Just line the solar panels up and connect one output to the(new) input..
The last solar panel in this "line" will power whatever machine you want to run.

No need for .. placing those tiny plug-walls around or even build a power station..
But you are free to build them anyway ;)

The base picture shows the north polar cap scenario with stormy weather conditions.
Even 18 solar panels yields only 2.1kW .. while the drilling machine wants up to 4k -.-

Modding stuff..
(the following stuff is just additional info if you are interested in modding..)
Path to addons:
Steam\userdata\<youruserid>\244030\local\addonpacks
changed files:
\scripts\entities\configs\buildingblocks\power\mmrtg.cfg
\scripts\entities\configs\buildingblocks\power\solararray.cfg
*change one of both power outputs to INPUT:
POWERPOINT "-7.75 0 28.125" "0 0 0" false

*place those panels EVERYWHERE(thanks to kelemenlajos)
SLOT "0 0 7.5" "0 0 -180" "TOPSURFACE" true true false false
(DRAM has changed this in a patch therefore ANY machine can be placed even on the sidewalls of a printer NOW!)
Use this hint for maximizing the power output of your solar panels..

Update:
This mod still works(May 2017) but I suggest to use a "forked" version here which includes an input plug for MORE machines: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=614946977

The only reason to use my mod instead of the above suggested:
As my mod changes just one of the solar panel(mmrtg) plug direction it should be much safer to use with other mods.

Known problems:
1) dont forget to activate this mod..
2) To avoid flying panels, first ASSEMBLE them to the ground using the tool thing.
3) Any solar panel(or mmrtg) build AFTER the mod has been activated will get the upper socket changed to INPUT.
.. Just try to put one power cable to the "assembled" solar panel.
.. When done try to put the other end of the same cable there, too.
.. Makes no sense but will show if it works.
..
.. It seeems that machinery "given" in a scenario which has not been assembled prior mod installation will also be changed. Already assembled stuff prior mod installation will behave "normal".
4) There is NO visual difference between the "normal" and the modded solar panel(mmrtg) plugs.
.. I was too lazy to change the colour in the model..
5) If your game(SP/MP) crashes due to this mod, please tell me!
.. Maybe there were another update, it will be fixed much sooner (if i am aware of it) ;)

Yeah, many small things are really easy, like changing parameters and values.
But adding new functionality can worse. Actually i could live with not a perfect visual. Maybe i do not need a model. Most important is an 'active' area for a pluggable. With barrels it can be achieved with barrelHolder.AddSlot and fuelHandler.AddSlot. But these are in class Vehicle and FuelHandler. Those powerpoints, i think only reside in "buildingblock", not in vehicle. Non of the vehicles use powerpoints, so it might not be possible. Still getting my head around this jungle of classes. Pepe143 solved it with a barrel with power. Brilliant.
But I want a cable :-)

Err. As stated before.. i just dug a bit in the code to get my solution ready. But.. I really dont know anything about this anymore.. really.
Changing the direction of power flow at an already existing outlet was easy.
Patching a power plug to a vehicle.. (I was even unable to change the modded outlets color..)
You MAY need additional 3rd party modeling software for this.
I dont know how to change the models.

Thanks for sharing how you did this. I am trying to make a power plug to the buggy (making in a PHEV). I see the SLOT's and the POWERPOINT's but still struggeling with it. How can I make a plug appear?

@DHLF
will do.

That is strange, I have never seen such behaviour. This should definetly *NOT* happen.
You mentioned it appeared in a multiplayer game..
As I have not played TOM MP I missed some bugs(which only appears in MP of course).
Thanks to all the kind people who told me about them I will try to fix them.

Last idea to check:
Please try a singleplayer game with a working 3d printer(like those dev-printer which does not need resources) and build some solar panels, power cables and power hungry stuff.

I will definetly look into this issue but.. it may take some days before a patch may be released.
Just send me some "time" ^^

ok. so far that has not been the case in MP set ups. in stead the soler read a continuas drain from the batts even after being disconnected from the grid and only show a less then .1W power chage from the panle itself. im not serten what to think with this.

This Mod has not been updated since 2017 as no errors have been reported (until now?).
Any solarpanel/MMRTG build(after mod activation) will change connctions (original:2xoutput) to one input and one output. This does NOT affect already "placed" panels(like in a scenario).
Any solar panel/mmrtg build using a printer(after mod activation) will have one input/one output.
To get the total ammount of produced/consumed energy try to place those "boxes" at the end of the powerline(err.. those thing which got 6 inputs/6outputs, connector box?).
This thing should show the actual power/drain in the power line so far.

haveing a bug where the new panls will not charge for a RTG. is this a fualt in the mod or will thay only charge from other soler panls?
DHLF  [author] 3 Feb, 2017 @ 9:44am
I am sure it do still works, just testet :)
Known "problems":
1) dont forget to activate this mod..
2) only newly build solar panels will have this function.
3) Blame me, i was too lazy to add different coloured plugs on the solar panels

Just try to put one power cable to the "assembled" solar panel.
When done try to put the other end there, too ;)

I'm not sure if this mod functions anymore...
