making it uncut
I created this guide mainly for people like myself that usually never check the forums but the guide section to a game and in case the uncut threads in the forum slip down too much as time goes by.

So let's get straight to the point, how to make it uncut again:
  • right click Shank in your steam library and select "Properties"
  • select the "Betas" tab and choose "classic"

Now you can play the original version of the game and its cut-scenes.

The original instructions from Klei Entertainment can be found under this thread:
http://forums.kleientertainment.com/topic/31803-shank-1-pc-missing-cut-scenes/#entry437232
savegames/progress
Please be aware that the classic and the cut version probably are not compatible with each other and your savegames/progress will be erased by switching to the other version!

Very good to have as the overly edited cutscenes severely undercut how good the story actually is.

I haven't seen anyone mention it, but reverting it back to the original version also seems to undo some of the game play tweaks that the new version had. I've noticed the following changes in the cut version:

- an air dodge
- jumping after launching an enemy with a down attack always caused Shank to jump and chase, but attacking right after now triggers an air combo ending in a dive attack, instead of just a dive attack
-can now grapple with katana equipped,
-more forgiving timer for counter prompt
-item pickup is now down and grapple, instead of just light attack
- can't spam attack while holding block to stun-lock enemies

I consider most of those to be improvements, so I guess it's up to the individual whether they want toe improved game play or uncut content.

What do you mean by making it classic again? Did they update the game to censor some stuff?

I'm actually not sure about this, but i think it's possible since when you change to "classic" it redownloads the whole game if im not mistaking. So it's propably 2 different versions that aren't compatible with each other. Thanks for letting me know, i will put it in to the guide.

Is it normal for this change to erase game data? I played in default mode up to the meat district, admittedly not very far,and quit when my game glitched. I set my game to classic before my next attempt a day or two later and found myself back at the begining with my data erased. At first I suspected the glitch I'd encountered,as unlikely as it was,but now I'm fairly certain it was the setting change.

If this is the case,it would be worth it to add this fact to the guide so people can be forewarned about the data loss.

It's all cutscenes from the uncut console version. You are welcome.
