Description
A collection of characters and props I used while making my 2012 Saxxy entry, "Whole Wheat Hardcase".

This set contains most of assets I made for my entry, with the exception of a few broken props and the maps. Most of the original props from the video were in a terrible state, and required a great deal of reworking in order to get them up to speed for SFM. It's been about a month of work.

I wish I could have added maps to this pack, but the originals were no where to be found. I suppose I simply never backed them up, and therefore I can't redistribute them now. They weren't even that bad really. It's part of the reason why the promo materials for this collection are so lacking. They would have really come in handy as backdrops.

I also thought about uploading sounds, but the original sound effects I used were piss poor in quality, and therefore unfit for redistribution.

The major reason I decided to remake all of these assets was due to the TF2 workshop. Like my Dark Cloud assets before, I had posted Sandvich and his pals to the TF2 workshop as pet items. This submission is absolutely terrible in quality, and somewhat shameless in intent. I used him as a means to advertise my Saxxy entry, in hopes I'd get a few more views. Ultimately, this scummy move was ineffective, and I gained a marginal increase in viewership.

To give a bit of context, it was 2012, November 1st, and I had just completed my Saxxy video and uploaded it for viewing. I had a plan. I would enter my video in the "Original Universe" category, and then I'd be competing against people of a similar skillset. The "Original Universe" category mandated that everything in your movie be made by you. I felt like this was a strong move, as I'm no animator, and I could do better overall with my custom models than my weak animation skills. I was also quite attached to the idea of a sandwich vigilante, and the idea felt unique compared to the many TF2-themed videos.

And that's when I made my fatal mistake. I choked. I realized that I had forgotten to replace a few of the assets in my movie with custom ones. I had foolishly left in the Engineer's shotgun, the Scout's candy cane, and some of TF2's music. I didn't qualify for the "Original Universe" category anymore, and I hastily decided to switch to "Action" and "Drama" instead. Rather than simply roll with these issues and go for broke by submitting an invalid entry, I switched categories and went up against professional animators.

To anyone who remembers the 2012 Saxxy's... you might be cringing right about now. I'm not going to talk about what happened with Original Universe, but suffice to say, I was a bit annoyed. And now, here I am, sitting in the Action/Drama category getting absolutely destroyed by professionals, who not only had skill and style on their side, but social media as well. I was receiving hundreds of views, where they were getting tens of thousands.

However, that was my fault, and I don't blame anyone for that.

So, why did I tell this story? Partly just to wash my hands of it. I really feel that these characters and assets deserve a second chance. I'm not the one to give them that, as I'm not an animator. Perhaps someone might find a use for him, and even if they don't, at least he's available in the event he is needed.

tl;dr

Henceforth, any of the assets in this pack can be used for whatever you wish. Use him for a video, a Saxxy, a map, a gamemode, etc. You don't have to credit me. Heck, If you can get him working as a pet item, feel free to reupload him to the TF2 workshop and try your luck. He's public domain as far as I'm concerned. Just remember, he's still technically a TF2 character, so be careful with copyright and all that(if there is any).
