Closed Captioning from Half-Life 2

This addon will install omitted close captionings streamings from Half–Life® 2 to Black Mesa—new captions for such as special effects, NPC/Misc sound fx, and the H.E.V. voice lines (subtitles) will be included in your captioning streams. This addon is to simulate the original 2012 Source release, as the Steam version has it omitted from its release. A custom addition to this Workshop addon is that of the H.E.V. Boot–Up captions—which exists in the Half-Life 2 game files but remains unused. Please note that this item will not add any other streams that were not in the Half-Life 2 otherwise. For example, special effect captions that are only for Black Mesa will be omitted unless they were included by the Black Mesa developers.

This “Workshop Addon” was previously known as: “More Subtitles.”

Language support: You can use close captionings in languages other than English. All the language files were taken from the current version of Half-Life 2 and were merged with respective official closed captining files from Black Mesa. Do not use this Workshop addon in conjunction with another language addon. It will cause unintended behaviour. Only use this addon if you do not have other language addons installed.

The following languages are currently supported, with the original Black Mesa closed captions:

Install this addon manually as instructed below and turn on “Closed Captionings” from the Audio Options. Set your ‘Close Captioning’ language as necessary.

• Important Note Regarding Installation: This Workshop item may not install automatically by subscribing to it. This is due to the current limitation with the Black Mesa file system. If you are having problems installing this file, you may need to follow additional steps for the game to manually recognise the close caption files. Please visit Steam Guide web site or related help pages for more information on how to set up your Black Mesa Workshop files manually. Also, when a revision to this Workshop addon is available, you will need to manually apply the update yourself by following the same installation procedure again.
