Update!
To whom ever sees this, this guide is outdated and I do know that so currently because I am out of school I will be working on a 100% new version of this guide. I do plan to on covering everything in the game regarding servers that I know of but if I miss anything please tell me.

This guide may still provide help in setting up a basic server but it is not a 100% acurate guide based on the current version of the game, sorry for the inconvenience.

The Basics
The very first thing that you will need to do is locate the server folder for nomad, if you installed it to the default steam directory then it can be found here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Nomad\Nomad Server But if you did not then you are going to need to find that.

Next what you are going to need to do is change the admin password for the server even if it is private or your lan(land area network) network. This can be done by navigating to the “config/admin.txt” file in the server config folder.

The third thing (optional) is port forward if you just want to play on your computer and have no one else be able to access it. This is different for every router type so please just google what router you have and how to port forward on it. The default port you will need to port forward is “5127” this can be changed in the (START.bat) file. NOTE: Please do not change if you do not know what you are doing.

Editing the Config
To get started with editing the configuration files of the server you will need to locate it here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Nomad\Nomad Server\Config
Now you can edit many things here but what you are looking for is the config.txt that is what you will want to edit.

So the password is no longer in the config.txt file it is in the admin.txt file so you will want to go over there and change it there. To change the password replace the entire word password and put what ever you want the password to be.
Noting that this gives anyone with the password admin powers please keep this private!

Now for the things to edit you can change the min and max of zombie damage then the health of all the zombie types, also you can change the health that the deer's have.

After that you can change the amount of the two creatures and that will control the amount that spawn in your world.

For motd timer that should be every 30 seconds it pops up.

If you know how kits work and you want them to be enabled then replace "False" with "True"

After that you can choose the amount of mining nodes that will spawn in your world.

Beware having to a high amount of any of these may cause lag and players may suffer!
Server looks
Please do not mark your server as "OFFICIAL NOMAD SERVER" if you want to list it as and official server then please specify the owner of the server.

So this is the final part of setting up the server and it is just changing the name that will appear on the sever list.

So here is the line of code that you will be editing:

But more specifically you will be editing: -name “MyServer"
You can put whatever you want between the quotations and that will appear on the server list. Beware that people will be able to see this so do not make it offensive.

Color
So you may be asking how do I make my server appear like the official servers with the red high loot or the blue hosted by well here is how you do that.

First you want to get some colors that you want to use and to do that just look up html color codes and you need something that looks like this: #DF3A01

Now to put this in to format you will need to change the name and put whatever text in between the color tag’s <color=#DF3A01>Text here</color> and you can do this as many times as you want for changing color just make sure to make it readable.

This is how it should look: NomadServer.exe -name "<color=#DF3A01>Server name </color> <color=#0101DF>Hosted by: </color><color=#00FF00>Name</color> " -port 5127 -slots 30 -clientVersion "0.61" -password "" -tcpLobby "149.202.51.185" 25565

Server Listing
So to make your server 100% offline then just launch the NomadServer.exe and then direct connect to 127.0.0.1:5127

Server passwords have been added so if you want to have a password then just change -password "" in your start.bat file to make it have no password just leave it blank.
NOTE: Do not make your server password the same as the admin password.

With this new update server changes have come and here is what you can now do.
If you don't want your server be able to allow 30 people then change it you can have it with a min of 1 person and a max of 100 players. With a default of 30 players.
-slots 30

Client versions are important you can run an older server but you have to have the older client so please make sure that you have the current version for people to play on your server.

Current Client Version: 0.78

Well to make it not visible you will need to remove this piece of code form START.bat
-tcpLobby "149.202.51.185" 25565
Once you remove this from the file then just save and run your server and it will no longer be listed. To have your friends join you will need to give them you IP address and have them enter it in to the direct connect area.

Because of updates making a copy of your server might be a good idea.
Connecting
When you are having friends connect they are going to have to connect a different way from you first you will need to (port forward) please google it.

You can have them just go to the server list or they can enter your ip manually, if you are having them connect manually then you will need to give them your ip address witch can be found by googling “what is my ip”

For you to connect to your own server you will just put in 127.0.0.1:5127 if you do not port forward or just go to server list and join it that way.

LogMeIn hamatchi does work for local hosting without port forwarding.
No other programs have been tested!

Being an admin
To my knowledge anyone who has your server password can receive admin rights so please beware who has your server password.

To become an admin you are going to want to press the F1 key on the top of your keyboard, after that you are going to want to click on the password box and type it in correctly and then press the login button. If you get the password wrong you will be kicked from the game by the server.

First what can you do when a normal player:
  • /help all of these commands will let you view available commands..
  • /players displays all players in session
  • /ping displays your current ping
  • /kill kills you
  • [Tab] view inventory
Now for what admins can do:
  • /help displays list of available commands.
  • /players displays all players in session
  • /ping displays your current ping
  • /kill kills you
  • [Tab] view inventory
  • /tp
  • /give
  • /speed
  • /spy shows steam id and ip address
  • /god
  • /clear
  • /ban
  • /kick
  • /heal
  • /clearall

Commands with stikes through them no longer exsist but can be accessed through the admin panel.

Note: if you are the host of the server then you will be able to see who connected to the server and what commands they do in the server through the server window.
