Fun things to do in Just Cause 3
By zedseven
If you're getting a little tired of all the same monotonous base/town capturing, these are a few of my favourite things to do on the side.

Car Surfing
Preparation:
You need to be near a slope or mountaintop.

Step 1:
When you are near a slope or mountain, pickup a little speed and go over the edge.

Step 2:
Once you have your speed, stunt on top of the vehicle and enjoy the trip. If you picked the slope well, your vehicle should speed up dramatically and you will only have to stand there on top of the car to have some fun. This can be paired with a lot of other activities as well.

Mountain Driving
Preparation:
All you'll need is a beacon or a lot of patience.

Step 1:
In the Montana region, head to a semi-flat area near the top of a fairly tall and steep mountain.

Step 2:
Use your beacon to Rebel Drop a land-based vehicle on the flat surface (motorcycles are my favourite). If you don't have a beacon, you'll need to pull a vehicle up using your dual tether to your semi-flat surface instead.

Step 3:
Get in/on your vehicle and ride it as far down as you can. Your vehicle will most likely catch fire at some point, but that's why you have a parachute!

Road Rage
Definitely one of my favourite activities.

Preparation:
The Litore Torto and Grande Pastura provinces are best for this activity. You need a vehicle that has two or more seats, and a roof to stunt on top of. Once you have that, you'll need to find a rebel to get to join you. Pull up near them and honk your horn to get them to get in the vehicle, and set a waypoint somewhere far away but still accessible by road.

Step 1:
Stunt on top of the vehicle and the rebel should take over steering. If you're in the Litore Torto or Grande Pastura provinces and you haven't yet captured them, there should be plenty of enemies all over the roads, so just shoot at a few to get into a chase.

Step 2:
Once in a chase, just stay on the roof and try to shoot the tires out on your adversaries as they drive after you; be careful to try to leave one around so they don't lose sight of you as you drive. Shooting the tires when enemies are at decently high speed+ causes the car to almost always blow up one way or another.

Step 3:
Just try to shoot out gunners first, especially on vehicles that you need to keep around. Shooting the gunners and leaving the drivers mean that they're practically harmless, but you can keep them around while you shoot the tires on the other vehicles.

Tips:
Some vehicles have impenetrable tires. Armoured cars, turret vehicles, and tanks (if you get that far) are impossible to pop the tires on, but if you end up blowing up other cars around them, they can become far less dangerous. Jeeps, dune buggies, and motorcycles are the vehicles to shoot the tires out on though, causing awesome explosions.

I was driving in this one - the initial car blew up. I still got out every once in a while to go tire-shooting though.
Train Mayhem
Preparation:
Find a set of railway tracks.

Step 1:
Wait until a train zips by you. Grapple to it and plant an explosive somewhere on one of its cars.

Step 2:
Jump off and detonate your explosive, causing the train to derail and hopefully block one or both of the tracks.

Step 3:
Get off the tracks and out of the way, then wait. More trains will come (the trains/military don't communicate very well) and whne they do, the second one will hit the first one and derail, chaining and causing some pretty awesome carnage.

Tips:
Another way to mess with the trains it to take down a bridge that the railway goes over. The trains fly right over the edge.

Oil Rig Fun
Preparation:
You'll need at least one oil rig that you haven't taken over yet, but this is one of my favourite things to mess around with, and its pretty fun.

Step 1:
Once at the oil rig, simply blow stuff up until you get helicopters to come. Once you see a heli with missile-launching capabilities, grapple to it and take control.

Step 2:
Target boats and other helis with your missiles, and if your heli blows up, just steal another heli. That's all there is to it!

Conclusion
I will update this if I find any new favourite activities, but let me know if there is anything I missed or anything you'd like to see added.

One of my favorite pass times is to stand at a busy intersection, usually in a town, attach random cars to each other with tethers, reel them in, and watch them explode. Then when more cars drive by, tether then to the cars that did not blow up and repeat the cycle. Works best with all tether upgrades.

I like to fly the monster truck and liberate bases while standing on top of it.

Another fun thing to do (preferably in the lower tier areas) is get a helicopter and do auto hover while you tether baddies to the bottom and then "kidnap" them. It's great fun watching them swing about

i'll add one more thing, i quite like just doing off road driving. It's quite fun to see what speed you can get up to before hitting a tree.:steammocking:
