A noobs guide to - Deadly 30

Sometimes games are harsh when you start out and you have no idea what to do, this guide helps with information about the game, its weapons, characters and defenses and what I wish I had known when I first started out playing this game.

Playable Characters
There are 3 playable characters in Deadly 30, each of which is unique in his/her playstyle; the American, the Russian and the German.

The American:
You always start off as the American when you start a new game, he uses automatic rifles as his ranged weapon of choice and has a machette for melee attacks.

The American's playstyle involves two tactics, the first being spray bullets at whatever moves and hope it's dead before you need to reload. The second is when you hide behind the walls, crouch and simply aim for the head without expending too much excess ammo.

The American needs a LOT of ammo to stay useful as if the AI is using him, he will spray almost his entire clip at a single zombie, however if you are using him you can afford to be leaniant with the ammount of bullets you use as you can crouch, aim for the head, and take down zombies with a few precise headshots.

The American gets very useful late-game where a single clip of his gun can take down an entire zombie surge or giant. This however, is assuming you have bought the upgraded guns for the American.

The American starts off with the MP-40, his next gun is the Thompson, then the AK-47, finally the golden AK-47.

*Extra hint* As you start off as the american in every game it is a good thing to remember that when crouching, it takes 4 headshots from the MP-40 to kill a green zombie. Use this to preseve ammo when scrap is scarce and crafting more bullets might not be the best ides.

The Russian:
The Russian starts off with a high-powered rifle and uses a machette for melee attacks.

The Russian is a very unique character due to how his playstyle is not centered around empyting an entire clip into an enemy, but to take his time, aim, and take down entire groups of enemies with a well placed shot.

The Russian's bullets penetrate enemies and can go through entire groups with great power, typically he is useful at ridding clusters of zombies at the barricades.

The Russian is very useful against large groups of weaker zombies, but not so much with giants, crows and dogs.

The Russian can hit fat zombies through other weaker zombies making him very useful in dispatching of them safely.

The Russian starts with the Rifle, this can be upgraded into the Winchester, the Bolt Action, and finally the Alien Laser Rifle (or as I like to call it, the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-balls where can I get one of those in real life).

The German
The German is the only female in the game, and is also a nazi, but she kicks a lot of ass so i'm fine with that. She starts off with the Double Barrel and uses a frying pan for her melee weapon.

The German has the most reliant high damage output toward a single target as if all her shells hit, she can do devestating damage.

The German's shots are very innacturate meaning her shells will frequently become less useful over a far distance as the spread is very wide.

The German is very useful for crouching behind the barricade and unloading her clip onto high-health targets such as the Giant/Red Giant to severly weaken them.

The German suffers from the potential of dying easiest whilst played by humans as they will put her closer to the enemies to do more damage, meaning she will be easier for them to eat.

The German's melee weapon seems to have a farther reach and do more damage to compansate for how frail she is up close.

The German's weapons are the Double Barrel, Super Double Barrel, Pump action and Striker.
Finding Character's
Assuming you do not already have all 3 characters, each of them can be found whilst exploring the area's surrounding the black forest. They will be found with 3 boxes behind them and a single box in front of them as a sort of fortification against the zombies.

Each character can only be found once until they die, they can then respawn outside the base and you will have to go and find them again.

The American, Russian and German all have equal chances of being found if they are missing/dead, and the appearence of them seems to be random.

Assuming you have unlocked laser pointers, finding them can be quite easy as you can see the laser pointer moving around the screen.

You cannot find 2 characters in the same area, if you find one in the corn-fields you cannot find another unless you leave the corn-fields and come back or go to another area such as the mountains.

If you have purchased upgrades to your boots or armour, the character you find will also have these upgrades, same goes for if you have purchased guns for that character, if you have purchased the Super Double Barrel and find the german, she will have it. (Unless you select another weapon from the workbench)
Enemies
Currenly I am only lvl 12 and have only survived 19 nights and as such I cannot say with certainty that these are all the enemies that the game has to offer. However, these are the ones that I am sure exist.

Green Zombies:
These zombies appear since night 1, they are the weakest and the easiest to handle; only really dangerous when grouped up into large surges that can potentially ruin your day and bite your love handles off.

Blue Zombies:
These zombies start appearing in night 3, they appear to have less health than the green zombie but are much faster and can easily outflank you whilst defending, causing you to run back and forth between walls repairing them.

Red Zombies:
These zombies start appearing in night 4, they are much stronger than both the green and blue zombies dealing more damage and being much tankier. They are able to withstand multiple headshots from the Russian's weaker weapons and can be annoying to deal with early in if you do not have good crowd control tactics as they can shield weaker zombies whilst getting to the barricades. Thankfully, red zombies seem to be slower than the other two mentioned so far.

White Zombies:
These zombies started appearing around night 10, I lost track (sorry). They are also a lot more powerful than the blue and green zombies but do not seem to be as tanky as the Red ones, I assume this to be because they hit harder and faster.

"Boomers":
These zombies start appearing in night 5, they are very weak and do not do much damage but when killed they explode and shower the area around them in what I can only assume is thier liquidated fat. If coated by this you will attract zombies and your vision will be impaired, each time you or an ally are coated it seems to spawn around 5-7 zombies which are either Green, Blue, Red or White from behind and around 3 from in front. Keep your distance when attacking.

"Bloody Boomers":
These are red versions of the "Boomers" and start appearing around night 12, they are still weak in terms of HP and damage but they are faster than the normal "Boomers" and they have a much larger explosion radius when killed.

Giant:
I think I should stop pretending that I know when these things show up, but anyway these zombies do huge ammounts of damage and have huge ammounts of health. They are very large and can actually punch through your barricade walls, so be very careful when placing boxes and turrets. When encountering them during the day they will be sitting down until you get too close or attack them.

Bloody Giant:
These show up on wave 20.
These zombies are the bane of my existance, they start showing up at night 20 and do a ton of damage whilst taking a great deal of effort to kill. They are the same size as a normal Giant but they are red.

Dogs:
Dogs are very fast and very annoying, they will jump on-screen, attack and then run off if you do not kill them in time, they will repeat this until you are dead or they are. I recommend laying out a trap of dog-food with a frag-mine underneath it, well i would but you can't do that in this game so instead I recommend a healthy diet of lead and steel.

Gonzo's Dog
These appear on night 21. They are much faster than the normal dogs and are black instead of brown, so it is easier to differenciate. They can take more damage and deal more too.

Crow:
Edgar Allen Poe's worst nightmare, these things fly, are hard to hit, do moderate damage but have little health and physics be damned around these things, they can fly through walls and over your barricades meaning you will have to put down the magazine and get off your arse if you want to kill them.
The Black Forest (Your Base)
The Black forest is where your base is located as well as where you will be spending most of your time huddled into a little ball and praying not to be eaten by a very cold looking Nazi zombie of all things.

Your base contains a number of different things such as:
Barricades:
Act as walls to the zombies, you can walk through them with ease however. These can be repaired by holding E whilst standing next to them and can be upgraded through the workbench.
Starts off as a wooden fence but can be upgraded into wire, steel, brick/concrete and then what I can only assume is either wood or plaster.

Workbench:
Here you can craft bullets, medical kits, weapons, turrets, boxes, and upgrade your walls, armour and boots.
Armour upgrades improve your HP and boot upgrades improve your speed.
Medical kits heal you by around 60%-70% of your max HP and cost 400 scrap each.
Bullets can be crafted for 25 scrap, each 25 scrap buys 30 machine gun bullets, 5 rifle bullets or 6 shotgun shells.
Boxes cost 100 scrap and can be stacked, they prevent zombies moving through them (don't stop birds though)
Turrets can be either "mini-turret"s or "Big Turret 3000"s. Mini Turrets cost 4000 scrap and Big ones cost 6000. Mini turrets automatically attack enemies and can hold 200 bullets, whilst big ones carry 400.

Bed:
Here you can sleep and the game automatically skips to night, you will regenerate health doing this, very good after you have explored and need a quick top up before night comes.

Generator:
This is what powers your base, it keeps the lights on and is essential to your survival.

Upstairs:
Your base has two floors, upstairs and downstairs, upstairs has no barricades but zombies must break down your downstairs defenses before coming up. It allows you to fire down onto the enemies without fear of being attacked yourself. Unless the birds attack you but noone likes the birds so its fine.
Exploring and loot
There are 5 areas to explore in this game. Whenever you enter a new area (other than the Black Forest) it has a chance of containing zombies, chests, big scrap, or a character you do not have in your party. It is randomly generated so there is no clear pattern between the areas.

The Black Forest:
Contains no scrap of zombies duirng the day (for the most part), and is where your base is located, be sure to be back here by night or you will in all porbability die unless it is the first or second night.

Snow-World:
Located to the right of the Black Forest, it can contain chests, big scrap and characters you do not have in your party as well as zombies. Lots of bloody zombies. Warm clothing recommended.

Castle:
Located to the right of Snow-World, the castle has a guarenteed chest at the far right of the area. It can also contain normal chests, big-scrap, characters and zombies. Bring a camera for this historical fun-for-all-the-family adventure.

Corn Fields:
Located to the left of the Black Forest, it can contain chests, big scrap and characters as well as zombies. Note: Corn is unedible as the zombies appear to be sleeping/throwing up on/ fornacating atop/ farting on/pssing on it. Also its probabley infected.

Mountains:
Located to the left of the Corn Fields, it has a guarenteed chest at the far left of the ara. It can also contain normal chests, big-scrap, characters and zombies. Hiking boots recommended.

Loot:
Big-Scap are non-functioning vehicles that can be found throughout the areas surrounding Black Forest, they have to be dismanteled by holding E whilst standing next to them and yeild high ammounts of scrap as a reward. Multiple ones can be found in one area.

Chests are wooden chests that can be found in any area but the Black Forest, they also are guarenteed at the far ends of the map meaning at the end of the Castle and Mountain areas. They contain Scrap and Ammo but have to be shot open. Multiple ones can be found in a single area.

Scrap can be found on the floor and dropped by zombies.

Ammo can be found dropped by zombies, the more powerful the zombie the higher chance of dropping more ammo.
Weapons
In the game of Deadly 30, guns are your greatest asset....alongside you being alive, but whatever. Guns and bullets are the only reason you will survive as long as you do and so it is important to know what guns there are in this game.
Each character has 4 guns to play with, each gun is different but they do get noteably more powerful later on in the game.

The American has the:
MP-40 - holds 40 bullets
M1 Thompson - holds 50 bullets
Ak-47 - holds 32 bullets
Golden AK-47 - holds 40 bullets
The American's weapons have the highest rate of fire and as such need more ammo, be sure to keep stocked as both human and AI controlled Americans will chew thorugh it very fast.

The Russian has the:
Rifle - holds 5 bullets
Winchester - holds 5 bullets
Bolt Action - holds 7 bullets
Alien Laser Rifle - holds 3......whatever the hell it is that it shoots

The German has the:
Double Barrel - Holds 6 shells
Super Double Barrel - Holds 4 shells
Pump Action - Holds 5 shells
Striker - Holds 10 shells

The American and Russian seem to have the same melee weapon as well, a machette, whilst the German has a frying pan that seems to do more damage and has a farther reach.
Tips and Tricks
This is a little section about what I do and what I have found that works in the long run.
Boxes are useless, it costs 100 scrap which is way more useful toward crafting ammo or just about anything else.

Boots only need to be upgraded to level two, my normal tactic is to go through snow-world/corn-field and make it to the castle/mountains before turning back essentially letting me loot two different areas. I only need to upgrade my boots to level two to do this and it is a very good stratagy.

Armour is essential for day-time. I have died quite a few times because of my low HP during the day when I was attacked by a stray Red Giant or if I got "boomer" fat all over me, the soloution to this is either upgrade armour or -

Have at least 3 health-kits. It costs around 1200 scrap which in worst case, is around a nights worth of defense against zomibes. It WILL save your life during the day and can turn a last-stand on the roof into a successful night.

Bullets aren't needed later on. As the night continue and the game gets harder, the special zombies will drop more and more ammo due to being an increased number of them. By night 12 I didn't need to actually craft any ammo at the workbrench because the special zombies such as the "boomers" and giants dropped so much of it. However this doesn't mean you shouldn't -

But bullets for the American, he chews through them, especially if you let the AI play him, and as I am normally the Russian it means that every morning he has around 60 damn bullets left because the AI thinks it's a good idea to spray and pray.

Upgrade your barricades whenever you can. If you are worrying about wether you should build a better gun, or make better walls, get better walls. Armour or walls? walls. Boots or walls? WALLS!
Turret's or walls, walls. Walls > Anything else.
However they will get a LOT more expensive, and so i recommend getting a few turrets and upgrading your guns if you have the scrap for them, but not the walls.

Turret's are gods. The turrets are the only reason I have survived as long as I have, literally any time you have 4.5K scrap, you should get another turret. Reload them as often as possible and make sure that they are not too close to the barricades otherwise giants can hit them through the barricades.

Always ensure you have enough scrap to repair you barricades during the night time waves. Otherwise they will fall pretty quickly.

Assuming you do have turrets either side, make a pattern of going to one side, reloading the turrets and providing covering fire whilst the turrets reload. Repair the walls after the reload and repeat on the other side.

Thats all for now, I might update this as more things become apparent to me.
Thank you and have fun!
At the end of the day, Deadly 30 is a fun contra-style shooter which focuses on daytime exploration and nighttime defence. It is heavily reliant on luck and in all honesty, it does get a but repetetive at times. But its an amazing game and I hope you enjoy it, play it the way you want to, this is only here incase you had questions. Thank you for reading and have fun.
