Myth: Industry requires uneducated workers.
  1. Myth
_To keep your industry from abandoning, you must keep a portion of your citizens uneducated.
_Edcuated citizens will only work at office.

  2. Reality
    BUSTED !

_Industry requires more and more educated workers when they upgraded to higher level.
_LVL3 Industry uses as much as High Educated workers as LVL3 Office.
_Citizen will happily fill in the work if it's available, unaffected by their education.

  3. Explanation
_Citizen will more likely to pick a better work if both industry and office are available.
_Citizen will not try to change job once assigned.

  4. Solution
_Keep zoning industry and commercial along side.
_When industry complaints "not enough buyer", but commercial demand is low or none, and job demand is high, start zoning office.
_Leveling industry to highest level when possible.
_Industry only requires Fire Department, Police, Cargo, Transport to level up, in which Cargo gives biggest bonus point, either Cargo Trains Station,Cargo Harbor, or Cargo Hub.

Myth: City must have Cemetery / Landfill in order to work
  1. Myth
_as soon as you remove Cemetery / Landfill, dead people and trash pile up !

  2. Reality
    BUSTED !

_Crematorium can do what Cemetery do without ever running out of space.
_Incinerator can turn trash into power, which Landfill can't, and they don't run out of space, too.

  3. Explanation
_Peope usually unlock Crematorium / Incinerator later in game, in which they already have decent amount of Cemeteries and Landfills.
_The cost for Crematorium / Incinerator are higher than their predecessors, people usually can only place one or two at first.
_When trying to empy Cemetery / Landfill, people usually forgot to also count the demand for service of the current running city.
_Crematorium / Incinerator being overwhelmed by both emptying and collecting process.
_Deathwave and Traffic may also play a role.

  4. Solution
_Only turning off Cemetery / Landfill, dont emptying them yet.
_Build up the new service in size. Crematorium has fewer herses than Cemetery.
_Emptying Cemetery / Landfill one at a time, keep watching the birth/death number to turn it off in case of deathwave.
_When traffic is crowded, stop emptying, reroute, relocate facilities for better flow.
Myth: Traffic only use one lane
  1. Myth
_cars don't use all the available lanes.

  2. Reality
    BUSTED !

  3. Explanation
_Car's path finding is pre-determined (for now)
_All lanes has different directions, which are assigned by arrows go straight / turn left / turn right
_Car can not go into lane which has different assigned direction from their pre-determined path.
_People dont usually familiar with road hierarchy, which help distribute traffic flow.
_Too few route options for vehicle to pick.

  4. Solution

Myth: Public Transport is unloved / non-profit.
  1. Myth
_Not many citizens use public transport.
_The cost is more than the profit.

  2. Reality
    PLAUSIBLE BUT RECOMMENDED

_Many uses for all 3 bus - metro - train.

    _Fewer uses with same setup.

_Depend of how your city layout, citizens may or may not pick the public transport.
_The cost is often more than the MONEY profit.
_The TRAFFIC IMPACT is worth the invest.

  3. Explanation
_Depends on path finding, citizen can pick many options to go from A to B.
_Citizen will always pick the fastest route to go. The more straight foward route, the more likely they will pick.
_Route with many stops tends to be long waiting time and less favorite.

  4. Solution
_To increase the use of public transport, make it THE ONLY option available, or the fastest.
_Increase transport routes by overlapping them when seeing many people waiting.
_Isolation city's zones from each other, and connect them with Metro / Train.
_Use bus for short transport, inner district.
_Use metro for medium transport, district to district
_Use train to move across zones
_Group major stops together to increase the connection and flow.

Great guide, so many "experts" very vocal in forums who peddle misinformation and unfortuately it becomes accepted as fact. The majority of problems can be traced back to one source- The PLAYER!

This influx of the highly educated to residential areas is due to immigration, and as long as you have a level 3 residential zone to live in, they will fill the houses (and industry/commercial/offices) with educated workers, regardless of if you have any previous education infrastructure. Under my own testing, I have noticed that you can manage without education, but processes are slow, and sometimes nonexistent (in certain areas), but I am unable to find suitable evidence to prove a progression in my city, either negative progression or positive. If you can show an equivalent of a city, with and without education, and compare certain aspects (which is where you might be more suitable then Me.) then you might be able to tell if they are progressing nearly the same, or not the same at all.

My Hypothesis- That education does not matter. You could save a good chunk of funds by not investing in education because both industry and offices will fill up regardless. Many people would say “Well, without education centers, your city can not get a proper education to fill job requirements of both highly educated and educated workers, and will either have a high unemployment, or abandonment in commercial and industrial zones,” Although at first this seems correct, mainly because the game even tells you that you get highly educated workers by building an education system, but many guides would suggest otherwise, That level 3 residential will bring in highly educated workers, without the need for education infrastructure.

I have a myth for you to test. It has to do with education, and is a lot like your first myth. I hope that this is both insightful and useful. Below is a frequently posted myth, that cities: Skylines even has you believe is true. However, I believe this is, in fact, a myth. It deserves to be busted.

Myth- “you must invest in education in order to get highly educated workers to work your commercial and industrial demands.”
