Little Green Men in the Baltic Sea

Beskrivning
NATO vs. Russia

Date/Time: 6th May 2015 / 12:00:00 Zulu
Location: Central Europe
Playable Sides: Poland

Please play this scenario with 'Unlimited aircraft weapons at bases' turned on.

Introduction
Unidentified submarine had almost crashed with passenger ferry on Polish waters. Intelligence reports that it was Kilo-class vessel, most likely from Russian side. No NATO submarines were present in the area during incident and it wasn't the first time when Russian submarines came so close to Polish shores.

Polish prime minister ordered to find and intercept this submarine before it escapes to open sea. She wants to stop this behavior once for all.

Situation is very tensed. In response to search, Russia has scrambled SU24 squadron equipped with anti surface rockets to intercept and follow Polish Navy. At least one Russian Pauk-class boats are spying on our Navy in close proximity.

Russian media blames NATO for making whole incident up. Some 'experts' speak about possible NATO provocation to bring war with Russia.

BEWARE: If the situation goes out of control, it would lead to an open war.
NATO forces present in the area:

48 Polish F16s, 32 MIG29s, 28 Su-22M4K attack planes and some ASW aircraft.

Polish Navy contains 2 Perry class frigates and 3 Orkan class missile boats.

16 fighters from 4 NATO countries on Baltic Air Policing mission (allied side).

Few attack planes with air-to-ground loadouts over Estonia (SIIL/Steadfast Javelin 2015).

USS Jason Dunham visiting Gdynia port this morning.

12 USAF F16s and 3 KC-135 tankers.

French E-3F AWACS conducting patrol over central Poland.

Lithuanian Navy with 4 small patrol boats.
Russian forces:

Russian Baltic Fleet is in the open sea, somewhere in the North. There are few Russian missile boats patrolling South Baltic Sea area.

Kaliningrad Oblast has heavy air power including SU27 fighters, SU24 attack planes and ASW helicopters.

Western Russia District has additional MIG29 and MIG31 fighters, A-50 early warning aircraft and TU22 strategic bombers.
Scenario Notes
All forces present in the area have been researched to resemble current military order in the region in the most accurate way. There are proper squadron names, air bases positions and unit quantities as close as it was possible to find in the public sources.

Civilian traffic has been replicated.

There are many ways to play through this scenario.
Although Polish Navy doesn't have much strike power for anti naval warfare, it includes 3 modernized Orkan Class missile boats with 8 Swedish anti surface rockets each. Its Kobben class submarines can do a lot of damage to Russian ships if they sneak in close enough to fire torpedoes.

You can use SU-22 from Swidwin Air Base for naval strikes, or wait for readiness of F16s with JSOW rockets.

Watch out for TU22s with long range anti surface rockets and SU24s from nearby Kaliningrad Oblast.

Good luck!

Scoring
You gain points for every Russian navy vessel destroyed depending on its class. You lose points with your ships in the same way.

Scenario will end after 6 hours.

Guys, thanks for your feedback!
When I have some free time, I would prepare some small update.

@Skjold
If I remember correctly, I chose those postures to Civillians and BAP, because other were making them to share their FOW with you. I think the great part of fun is not actually being able to see Russian bombers until they are over the Baltic Sea. But I will check that again.

Congrats to your score - I have played this a week ago, and shame to admit ;), but I have lost my 4 ships including Jason Dunham. I was so focused on attacking Baltic Fleet, that I totally forgot about Russian Bombers :D.

@Apolyn
Thanks for your input, I have no military background, so this is always helpful. I would try to include this in next update.

Good scenario, some feedback.

Make Poland neutral to civilians instead of friendly to make them appear green on the map, and make Baltic Air Policing ally to make them appear blue, im guessing this is a mistake.
I know you said to play with unlimited munitions on, but for future reference its nice to have actual stocks of weapons.

Great work otherwise!

I finished with an "average" score but without using unlimited weapons so had very limited resources :)

There's a few details here I thought I'd bring up:

You shouldn't be referring to indiviudal squadrons by names like: "480th Fighter Squadron", you should be referring to them by their Squadron nicknames. So in the case I just mentioned, each fighter in the aforementioned squadron should be titled "Warhawk #1, Warhawk #2...", since 'Warhawk' is the nickname of said squadron. Russian fighter squadrons are denoted much differently. Tanker and transport squadrons generally have no nicknames so you'd just use acronomys instead: 180th ARS (Air Refuelling Squadron)

I don't know if you are aware of this or not, but most (There are still a few that are the exception) USAF F-16 squadrons have been upgraded to the CCIP standard, so there should not be any F-16A Falcons from 1993. You'd have to find whether each falcon squadron used either the 40,42,50 or 52 Block versions and then put that specific model in.

In Malbork AFB, you put a few Russian MIG-29UB's instead of Polish Fulcrums.
In the Polish Air Force, each squadron has the suffix '.elt' at the end.
So the the '41st Tactical Squadron' in Malbork is referred to as: '41.ELT'

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your comments. It is quite large scenario, so it is best to play it with v1.11, where it is 3-5 times faster.
