Introduction
This guide will provide details on the various humanoids and factions in NEO Scavenger. As with other guides, be sure to tell me if I got anything wrong or if you have more info for me. Thanks!
ATN Warriors
These tribespeople will be initially friendly to the player, accepting any offers to talk or ceasefire requests. They will gladly show the player to their base (if it isn't discovered yet) if they act peacefully to them. However, like with DMC guards, attacking/threatening them will make the faction permanently hostile to the player, unless you do it quickly and in a secluded area, preferably at night. They are a moderate threat in combat-especially with their powerful melee weapons, like their spears or their unique war club. They can also carry unique bows that can take out an exposed target quicker than most other bows. Unlike DMC Guards, picking their equipment off their carcass is unnecessary as you can buy their equipment at the ATN Enclave. ATN Warriors will patrol hexes near their base, the ATN Enclave near the center of the map, picking fights with dogmen, Bad Muthas, DMC Guards, feral dogs, et cetera. They can be easily recognized from their distinct white face paint and red mohawks. They sometimes wear long hide coats. There are both male and female warriors.

^Even ATN Warriors have Casual Fridays?

Bad Muthas
These aggresive gangers will likely charge the player at first contact if they are battle ready. Sometimes they'll charge you regardless. (And desperately retreat immediately afterwards) Although it might be hard to realize at first, these gangers are actually cannibalistic. They are behind most of the events at Zom Zom's directly north of the cryo facility, searching the countryside around there for humans to be killed and butchered and later peddled at Zom Zom's, including the player. As you might expect due to this behavior, they are hostile with every faction in the game. They will be resistant to most of the player's threats unless they are nearing death. All of their members are male, interestingly. It's also worth mentioning that they are also often equipped with the strong, melee, tough, or tracking skills. As with any other opponent in the game, dodge or parry and attack only when they are listed as 'vulnerable'. On very rare occasions, they will spare the player if you offer to talk with them, telling the player that they're lucky that they're not hungry right now. Just like Blue Frogs, they will attack you in your sleep! On a side note, although they are cannibals, they do not carry human meat. If you find meat on them, then it is safe.

Ball so hard Bad Muthas wanna find me!
Blue Frogs
These deranged and highly dangerous lunatics will pose a threat to any player, regardless of their stage in the game. And to any readers unfamiliar with the game: they are not actually giant blue frogs. It's just a name. The main reason they attack anything that moves is due to their religion of questionable nature: The Church of the Blue Frog. There are two types of Blue Frogs: Blue Frog Cultists, and Blue Frog Preachers. They can be identified due to their distinctive blue sash. Based in Saginaw Mental Institution, you can expect a higher concentration of Blue Frogs to be wandering around near there. Like Bad Muthas, females are not represented. Blue Frog Cultists and Blue Frog Preachers can easily be identified by their blue sash. Rarely will they ever respond to your threats or spare you, so be warned! By wearing a blue frog sash found from the bodies of Blue Frogs, they will offer a ceasefire or offer to talk, just like the other passive factions in the game. If you find a sapphire blue frog sash in your travels by completing the Saginaw Mental Institution encounter by having Liza become the queen and choosing to become the new bishop of the blue frogs, Blue Frogs will always be friendly to you regardless of your past transgressions as long as it is worn.
Blue Frog Preachers are a subset of Blue Frogs that will always wear a hospital gown and gas mask-often full of working filters. This makes them more susceptible to attack, however be warned that they often carry loaded guns to compensate. Before you fight a Blue Frog, be warned-all Blue Frogs carry an extremely infectious and lethal disease known as Blue Rot. There is a chance of contracting Blue Rot if you are at 4 range or closer in combat with a Blue Frog or Blue Frog Preacher. A gas mask will completely protect the player from infection-so long as it is working. If you have a gas mask, remember to take cover, open your inventory, and put on your mask if you're going to engage in melee combat with a Blue Frog. For more information on Blue Rot, please defer to another guide. When in doubt, consult Haggerty Health Clinic! If you don't have a gun or a gas mask-an inexperienced player is better off retreating. or saying their prayers

DMC Guards
These guards patrol the area around the Detroit Mega City (DMC) and will take out hostiles with extreme skill. At the first sign of you (assuming you haven't attacked or threatened one of them before) they will offer you a ceasefire or offer to chat. They will always accept offers to talk (although they rarely give you a straight answer to your questions) and your requests for a ceasefire. There is a second type of DMC Guard called DMC Guard Leader, who in every way seems to be identical to the standard DMC Guard, just that other DMC Guards will often follow them, forming squads. Very well equipped and experienced players can farm DMC Guards for their unique armor and their extremely valuable guns, however be warned that killing a DMC Guard will make the faction permanently hostile to the player, unless there is only one of them and it is done stealthily and before they can call in a drone or backup. This is best done at night while they are blind. Killing a DMC Guard is tough, but there are ways. The elusive legendary reputation will rarely allow you to score an instant kill , you can snipe them when they only have a pistol or shotgun, or you can sneak up to them at night when they are blind. If you're lucky, you can follow around a lone DMC Guard and see if they can be killed by a dogman or other dangerous hostile and then pick up their gear without fear of being enemies with the DMC. DMC Guards won't care if you wear their armor. Interestingly, they don't ever drop the radio they're seen using. There are no female DMC Guards. Their armor is unique to them, as well. The main trick up their sleeve is the ability to call in a DMC Drone-and if that happens, well, you're standing toe-to-toe with an enemy tougher than the Merga Wraith. What do you want me to do about it?

Unique appearance?: Yes
Base: Detroit Mega City
Weaponry: .45 pistol, 12 gauge shotgun, tactical shotgun
Enemies with: Bad Muthas, Blue Frogs, ATN, Martha's Army(?)
Neutral to: The player, Looters (Mostly)

Looters
These passive humans will scavenge the map, looking for anything of use. They often wear casual clothing, pants, shirts, sweatshirts, etc, leaving them vulnerable to attack. They're also commonly feeble or frail, making them extremely vulnerable to attack. They're also often athletic, making their attempts to retreat easier. Whether they're just looking to survive or taking advantage of the situation is up to the player's interpretation. Regardless, they will always accept the player's offers to talk and requests for a ceasefire. If you have one or both of the legendary reputations, looters will often make a comment about it. Attacking them for their loot almost always yields undesirable results, unless they have a gun. Unless they take something that you own, it's better to just leave them to their own devices or threaten them away from your camp. That is, unless, you're strapped for items. There are both male and female looters. If you find a random body in a hex, chances are that it's a looter.

Martha's Army
These soldiers have little known about them. What is known is that they highly despise technology as a whole, blaming technology for the events in the game. They have a unique orange head that makes them easily identifiable to an experienced player. They are passive to the player, and talking with them will often have them reveal cryptic information to the player, and although it's often nonsense, they often don't attack and will accept ceasefire requests. It's possible that they attack the player if they hold technology (I-Slab, Cellphone, Smartphone, Laptop) which can pose a threat to a hacker character. There are both male and female soldiers. They are also very commonly seen carrying loaded guns. This makes them easily farmable. More info would be appreciated.

Uh huh... Uh huh... You sound like a real whiner to me. Don't get lippy, or I'll kick your butt!

Melonheads
These laughably weak and pitiful creatures are often thought to once be human. They are always feeble and frail and will often get K.O'd in a single swipe from a gust of wind. Fighting them really isn't recommended at all, since they sometimes drop clothing or weapons, but always drop a humanoid corpse. Threatening them-even in groups-will almost always send them running for their lives. Their unique ability is to call for help, almost always sending more melonheads to the fight. If this happens-don't get close, since if you get tackled you simply won't survive the oncoming barrage of kicks. Retreat or threaten if it gets to that! Since they obviously can't wear night-vision goggles, they will be blind at night, which can come to the player's advantage. They will always be barefoot. They are genderless. They can be compared to looters, fleeing often and scavenging the map, sometimes stealing items from the player while the player is sleeping. They sometimes wear hospital gowns, which leads some to theorize they were created medically or scientifically. One thing's for sure-it was quite the failure. And I don't know why, but the way they stand so casually cracks me up.

Passive?: No
Travels in groups?: Uncommonly
Unique items?: No
Unique appearance?: Yes
Base: Allegan Fairgrounds
Weaponry: Fists, tackling, branches, other assorted weak melee weapons
Enemies with: Every faction, however they will almost always flee on sight anyway
Neutral to: I bow to no man.

Conclusion
Like I said in the intro, be sure to leave comments giving me extra info (especially on Martha's Army), correcting any mistakes I made, giving me feedback, maybe even suggesting adding another section like threat level or something, but make sure not to attract the rooster at Allegan Fairgrounds. He gives me the creeps.

My main source was the NEO Scavenger wiki, my secondary source being personal experiences. Thumbs up if you liked what you read. Thanks for reading, hope you learned something new!

The first time I saw a group of Detroit Guards my first instinct was to run away. I did not know they were friendly with the player, but with a kit like that, I knew 100% they were packing heat.

Personal experience would be a primary source, while external things would be secondary.

Otherwise, thank you for the guide. It helps a lot.

If I recall right, isn't Martha's Army based somewhere way north, possibly a little west of center, on the map?

I might not recall right, or if I was right at some point, it may have been (re?)moved.
