ABOUT THE MOD

Adds an additional class for XCOM, the INFANTRYMAN, focused on well-rounded mid-range combat. The RIFLEMAN specialization offers many abilities for controlling a mid-range firefight, while the OPERATOR specialization gives the Infantryman some stealthy, close-range clutch abilities.

I know there's a few other mods which offer a similar class/role, but I wanted my own approach to the concept. Some of the others are quite well done so I encourage you to check them out and see if they suit your tastes - I only offer my own particular take on the idea.

With thanks & credit to the author of the Rogue Class tutorial series, who has created an excellent intro to XCOM 2 modding.


COMPATIBILITY

This mod works perfectly fine with existing save games - however, as with most XCOM 2 mods, add it to your save game at your own risk. Once enabled in a save game, you may have issues if you wish to later remove this mod.

There should be minimal conflicts with other mods, but it probably won't work with anything that edits soldier progression, such as randomized level-up stats (e.g., Hidden Potential). Please let me know if you discover any compatibility issues.

Hi guys,

Depending on how the changes to soldier training have affected things, I may give this a much-needed update for WotC. Expect some changes to the class, because of the differences in how abilities are trained and the various new abilities/features added to the game, but the core concept should stay the same.

I'd like to see if it's viable to give a regular XCOM soldier class the option to use the Skirmisher's bullpup carbine as well as various other faction abilities that would fit the theme. Given the changes to XCOM and alien power levels in WotC, I'd like to make sure this class is in a pretty strong place since it lacks any real specialist abilities that you would otherwise probably want on a given mission.

I'm still seeing this issue of the class being unable to equip armor, which seems to have never been fixed, or has broken again in the meantime. Can someone please give me some info on how to fix this? None of the current 'fixes' I'm using do anything.

Alright, found the .ini files you need to change so you can wear armor. Turns out Steam keeps the Workshop items in their own folder outside of the game itself. Hopefully this is the folder you guys need as well. Go to SteamApps/workshop/content/268500/620336497/Config. the XComClassData.ini file should be in there

Anyone run into a problem with their infantrymen being unable to wear any armor? Happened to me when I upgraded to plated armor.

@Spotter. Thanks, I managed to find the skill names in the original game's ini files and did as you said. It works great. I also had fun giving my soldiers the face off skill using their primary weapon. a bit too op.
