Origins
Back when 2.0 was in it's hey day, I proposed a little (or not so little) map idea, mainly for when the then rumored map creator, to be made. It was a mini Mackinac, an Island about 3.8 sq mi's big in Lake Huron, MI, next to the Mackinaw Bridge. I thought it was perfect. Forts, lots of forests, chances for hidden goodies, a large hub city, large airport, scattered housing... Then the map editor came out and I relised I was over my head for my current skill level. Over a year later, I am finally making progress on Little Mackinac.

Original Map:
Basics
Part of my hesitation of this map was the fact that I couldn't accurately make the shape. Kind of weird as it's so basic, but I kept making it too long and thin, or wide, or something. I found out how to directly import a heightmap of the Island however using a Cities Skylines tool, and a Paint.Net plugin. The only downside to this is that the slopes are naturally a bit blocky, and arn't as exaggerated as I wanted. They're very gentle, much like the island. It's fine though.

Major Locations:
Mackinac Island City (Wow, gg France and Britain, way to differenticate from Mackinaw City)
Grand Hotel (Difficulties finding a suitable building)
Fort Mackinac
Airport
Rock Formations (Arch Rock and Sugar Loaf)
Possibly a Golf Course
lots of forest
Butterfly Observatory
Housing Strip
forest
Mission Point
British Landing

Grand Hotel

What the hell do I use for this? I could build one, but it would be sloppy and very poorly optimised as I'd be using Spy's and G2M's Walls in the Editor (Which I used for the Fort's Walls, but that's just a Wall).

Proper Stables
I suppose I could improvise, or even build some, but stables are... well a staple of the island. The Observatory has a ton nearby, and there's even a major carriage port between there and the hotel.
