The Dauntless is the pride of the HDY Navy, a fearsome behemoth built to withstand focussed fire of entire fleets. Its heavy armor and stunning 20 missile launchers, accompanied by 12 gatling turrets for defensive purposes, make the Dauntless perfect for this task. A dual large reactor configuration and 2 jumpdrives, aswell as basically the entire ship's internal layout are built with redundancy in mind. The ship's forward sections are built out of modular pieces, each has its own cargo storage, conveyors and batteries. As with all HDY ships, the conveyors run to a middle "spine", that supplies the entire ship. The Dauntless has two of those spines for maximum redundancy.
But the best tank in the system cannot harm anyone without at least some firepower. The Dauntless' 20 missile launchers make for a fearsome anti-capital armament, and the 12 gatlings are sufficient against medium to small targets. to maximize the vessel's damage, the two rows of launchers can be extended thanks to the prototype ATLAS system (Advanced Turret Leveling Attack System), guaranteeing all 20 missile launchers can fire on the target.
