Triple B Achievement
By Freedan
This guide is a general outline for successfully obtaining the elusive Triple B achievement. Because this achievement seems to elude almost everyone on their first or second attempts (or even fourth and fifth in my case!), this guide will assume the reader has a decent understanding of the game mechanics, time, energy, and stat management, etc.

The Triple B Achievement
The Triple B achievement involves defeating random muggers a total of three times and then confronting and defeating Big Bobo, who I'm sure you remember as the tank who handily provided you with your very first loss a the beginning of the game.

This achievement is arguably the hardest to obtain on an average playthrough, not because of the inherent difficulty of the ensuing fights, but because the entire process is not congruent with the general flow of the game. In Punch Club we ideally spend most of our time maximizing the efficiency of each day, which typically means we are liquidating our cash through constant training and grocery shopping. This also means that we are constantly boosting our stats and progressing through story unlocks that often lead to missable achievements, Triple B being probably the most easily missed.

The problem with getting this achievement is that you must act in contradiction to common sense and logic. You must purposefully carry around (and risk losing) a large sum of cash. You must also keep your stats capped at a specific level to attract thugs, at which point you must purposefully grind extra days onto your total day count waiting for thugs to re-spawn and then actively seeking them out. Because of all this, the Triple B achievement is usually best left for it's own targeted (and potentially "throw-away") playthrough. The purpose of this guide is to help you through this arduous process.

But if you are reading this, then you probably already know all that...
The Setup
I've spent several hours experimenting and I've managed to obtain the achievement with both an agility build, and a strength build. For the purpose of this walkthrough and stat building, I will use the Bear Style Guide published by Spiattalo, as I experienced far more wins and completed the achievement in a shorter amount of time using his guide. Here are the stat checkpoints I aimed for throughout the playthrough (strength - agility - stamina):

3-1-1
3-1-2
4-1-3
5-2-3
6-3-4
8-4-5 (cap your stats here)

Any more than 17 stats points and you will no longer encounter thugs on the map.
Here are the skills I had accumulated, in order, by the time I fought Big Bobo:

NOTE: Delete and remake your save file until you start with both punch and block. Also choose "Pretty Great Hook" when asked by Mick.

Tactics Learner
Uppercut (primary attack skill)
High Punch
Skip Attacks
Muscle Memory
Active Skill I
Crosspunch (replaces uppercut)

Boxing Punch
Clothesline (replaces Crosspunch)

Here are the skills you should have active when facing Bobo:

Skip Attacks
Tormentor Strikes

Thanks again Spiattalo for an excellent guide.
Starting Out
Begin your playthrough as you normally would. At worst, you should only need to grind an extra 10 days or so to nab the achievement (and only because it takes 4 or 5 days for muggers to "re-spawn").

Progression tips:

Story wise, you should be safe progressing the story at a normal clip. You should be able to claim the achievement before ever grabbing your pro card or conquering the underground fights. As far as I know the only story progression that can break (reportedly, I have not confirmed this myself) the Triple B achievement is winning 5 fights outside of the bar and unlocking Mickey's trailer park.

By day 50'ish, you should be nearing ideal stats and skills. If you are steamrolling opponents in the underground scene, continue to do so to gain cash and avoid the depression that comes from menial labor. Also skip fights if you are anticipating a mugging; you'll want to be at full strength for these fights.

You can attempt the muggings any number of times during the playthrough as long as you are at or under 17 total stat points, and are carrying greater than $150 in your wallet. Win or lose, you'll have to wait 4-5 days for the muggers to re-spawn. I chose to wait until I had optimal stats and skills before I attempted even the first mugger, as they can be pretty tough.

Once you've defeated the third and final mugger, Mickey's trailer park will appear on the map and you can then choose to fight Big Bobo at your leisure. To avoid any potential story conflicts, I chose to fight him right away. On one playthrough, I went ahead and topped off a few stats in the gym, and grabbed an agility potion for good measure. I'd wager that you're safe to take your time preparing for the fight as long as you don't progress the story.

Big Bobo is your typical strength build, low agility but hits like a freight train. With my agility build he only touched me once, and with my strength build he dropped me down to 1/2 health. Despite that I never felt in danger of losing the match.

Losing this battle will lock you out of getting the achievement; Confirmed by Blastaz.

With your stat total ranging 17-20 and with four active skills you should have no trouble with Big Bobo. Ultimately I defeated him on day 56 with my stats at 8-6-5.
Conclusion
Hopefully, this guide will help you nail down this troublesome achievement. In closing I'll recap a few important points:

  • To encounter muggers you need to stay at or under 17 total stat points and carry > $150.
  • Muggers "re-spawn" every 4-5 days.
  • Don't fight/defeat the fifth opponent outside of the bar.
  • Don't lose the final fight with Big Bobo; go in prepared.
  • Have 17-20 total stat points and four active skills when you face Big Bobo.
  • Quaff a potion for good measure.

Thanks for reading and good luck taking back the streets!

Triple B achievement will not trigger after winning 5 fights outside of the bar and unlocking Mickey's trailer park.

But unlocking Mickey's trailer park doesn't prevent you from gaining Triple B achievement.

So steps can be the following:
1. Unlock Mickey's trailer park.
2. Do not go to the Mickey's yet.
3. Look for muggings instead according to above guide.
4. After 3 muggings - go to the Mickey's trailer park.
5. In dialog with Boba select "I thought you'd be twice as smart". It is very important . Otherwise you won't start fight with Boba and won't get Triple B achievement.

I dominated Bobo on day 42 with an 8-1-4 bear, block/clothesline/tormentor/wreckem/exhauster - I did get a bit lucky with getting skill points from bar visits with Roy, even without that it would only have been a few more days of SP from roy/silver/matches, plus the 5th slot/exhauster was overkill. Thanks for the guide, it really was helpful!
