How to disable music.
The music in this game is broken anyway. Themes play way after when they're supposed to and we don't even get to listen to this music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zyvTghFZKI

Anyway to disable the music just rename the 'MUSIC' folder to anything. I personally renamed it to 'MUSIC OFF' and that worked fine.
To find the music folder just go to ...\SteamApps\common\HogsofWar

Since you're on a PC, you're free to put on any music on in the background so you don't have to play in silence.

there is custom game mini-image file with .cda music files only - but on torrents. If you want a link in PM - add me to friends. But combo Data+AudioCD games broken in Windows7(10) - only one track play after each loading (starting level or save-load in some games). And again - music volume cannot be reduced ingame.

On win7 you must chekc 3 checkbox in steam.exe properties: "adminrun", and two "disable themes". Set steam and steamlibrary as exception for antiviruss. Turn off all other programs in Task Manager.
If music not starting with game again(*) - relaunch, check Task manager process list (warhogs_exe), check game files again (once), restart PC by "Reboot".
*it rarely happen, but restarting game or game+Windows help.

remove game, check HKLM(+HKCU\)\Software\Wow64Node\ about Hogs of War in registry, check SteamApps\(\downloads\temp\common\). Delete all HoW folders. Restart your PC by exactly "Windows Reboot" and not shutdown. Install game again to X:\Games\SteamLibrary\ (always start steam.exe as administrator). Always check game files after downloading - twice. All files must pass verifying (not all games) - no downloading. And no files in downloads\temp folders.

I've played this game for years on the PC (windows7), and the PS1 before that. A few years ago all the sounds stopped working, then all on their own about a month ago they started again. The game was a bit glitchy, but settled down with all the sounds as they should be. Then today, it asked to reload itself, and the sound disappeared. Any ideas how to fix? I love this game, and it's the sounds and Rick Mayals voices that make it even better.

Master sound and SFX change same sounds actually in game... They both must be maxed out. And sometimes bug happened - during gameplay (at mission start) sound options canceled to default not maxed levels.
In PS1 version no music level too, as im remember - but master change sfx+music (only on hardware and some emulators, others use own hotkeys for PSX music format audio volume).

Yu probably play iso-pirate copy of the game. Ofc iso did not contain music files. There is no proper image on torrents, even with music - no or wrong subchannels = wrong DRM copy = no patch support = no multiplayer.

QWEEDDY2, thank you for answer. Earlier i tried to max SFX Volume and minimize Master Volume at game settings. It didn't help. There weren't voices and sounds of shots and blows. Maybe i didn't understand something. I would try again.

P.S.
When i played this game on Windows 98, there was no music.

PC version lack one - but important - ambient battle track, as described in that Guide. Indeed, only that broke music in PC version. Still no reason to completely disabled music.

P.S. GOG\Steam version (and not old PC Retail) have one excessive double track (Track31 - Track32 if im right) - they copy main menu track, as i remember. Short - seems unused - version of that track exist in another file (same in PS1).

Or u can maxed out SFX level in settings each time after you run the game.

Music isnt broken and work as always work for PC version. AudioCD level must be changed in Sound Mixer in Windows 98\Me\*same\

You can change each track of the nation by adding this track to the end, but it's easier to play on the emulator)
