Controller configuration
By markzwaan
The standard controls for this game kinda suck, so I used Controller Companion to map the controls to my wireless Xbox 360 controller. This works really well and makes the game much more fun to play. Controller Companion is available here on steam, it's dirt cheap, very user friendly and easy to set-up.

How to set up the controls
To get started, just click the Controller Companion icon in your task bar and select 'open settings', go to the profiles tab and click the big PLUS icon to add a new profile. Go to recent processes and select curse.exe.

I prefer to unbind all settings and then create a set-up from scratch, my set-up was as follows:

Controller
Keyboard
Function
left trigger
CTRL
run
right trigger
right mouse button
aim
right bumper
F5
Inventory
start button
ESC
cancel / main menu
A button
left mouse button
action / select
B button
F8
aim at different body part / inventories switch right
X button
F7
switch between enemies / inventories switch left
Y button
F9
reload
D-pad left
F2
map / previous page (when reading documents)
D-pad up
F3
combine
D-pad right
F1
select / next page (when reading documents)
D-pad down
F4
exit inventory

I didn't change the settings for both sticks and for the left bumper button since I had no functions left to assign.

In both the main menu and when saving or loading games the X button will function as the ENTER button. Also the Y button will show the map when you're in the inventory. These button behaviors are probably hard coded by the game and not influenced by Controller Companion.

In the game options I set the controls to 'joystick', so the character moves relative to the camera instead of Resident Evil style tank controls.

Now you have no more need to use the keyboard and have much more intuitive controls, enjoy!
Other profiling software
Off course you can use the set-up in the table above with any program that will allow you to bind the keyboard and mouse to your game controller. I prefer using Controller Companion because it is user friendly, but I've also used Xpadder and some gamers prefer JoyToKey. Some controllers (like the Logitech F310/F510/F710 or the Steam controller) come with their own dedicated profiling software. Feel free to use this set-up to create a profile with your favorite program.
