Musketeer

Description
UPDATE NOTES: Fixed issue with armour becomming unequipabble due to DLC content.

The Street Samurai is a replacement for the Ranger class.

The character used for the screenshots is a colonel soldier using tier 1 weaponry so sword aim won't always be over 100%. A squaddie sword strike will have around 93%. Also note that Lightning Reflexes IS NOT native to the Street Samurai's ability tree, this was an AWC perk added to the soldier used for the ability treet screenshot.

The Ranger ability tree is used with "Run & Gun" and "Implacable" switching positions on the tree. A new ability "Bushido" replaces the "Blademaster" ability.

Left Tree: Ninja

This is the Phantom Street Samurai which focuses on ranged attacks. Run & Gun is added to the tree to assist with mobility.

Right Tree: Swordsmith

This is the melee Street Samurai who sacrifices ranged utility for close range devastation. Implacable is added to the tree to allow for greater battlefield control and mobility. LW Studios SMG is highly recommended for this soldier to increase the range of slash and to reduce the aim penalties on ranged attacks.

Bushido Ability

Melee attacks have +2 damage (same as vanilla Blademaster)
Melee attacks have +5 aim
Melee attacks have huge critical change (this is the biggest change)

These changes, while minor, greatly effect the specialisation between each tree giving each a more defined character.

Recommended Mods: LW SMG Pack

You're right, I haven't set up nicknames. I may get around to putting some in there eventually.

Hey, just an FYI but I don't think you have any nicknames set up for these guys. The one I was using didn't get one anyway.

Ah, that's ok. When I need them I'll just use GTS. :)
Great work.

No need to start a new game. Just load and continue!

I'm not 100% sure if rookies will be randomly promoted to Rangers or not. You can definitely train vanilla rangers in the GTS but I haven't had the time to test rookie promotions.

Excelent! Thank you! XD

It was updated today and I still haven't had the chance to check it ingame... I already have a Musketeer in my ranks. Will the name changes automaticaly aply? Do I need to subscribe again? Or will only affect new games?

Loved your class. But... Is there a way to use the Musketeer and still keep the Ranger? I'd like to have both...

Thank you! :psi:

Just finished a campaign using this soldier. It's a very strong class, especially early game, but I think it balances out pretty well from the mid-to-late game. None of the aliens are much of a threat to the musketeer until the Muton arrives (which is the musketeer's greatest nightmare) but you are always risking an additional enemy activation when you charge in for a sword attack. Chryssalids are a bit of a problem too because any overwatch shots you take are probably going to miss, bladestorm can be a lifesaver in those situations. I highly recommend a stock for the musketeers gun, you won't be shooting with them much but at least you'll guarantee some damage that way.

Hope you're enjoying it, I've found them WAY more fun than the vanilla Ranger.
