There is a video by data demonstrating some of the scene editing here [www.twitch.tv] and one of him building a cave complex from a sketch here [www.twitch.tv].
Setting Up
Toggle the discovery map (K) and lighting (L) for a better view. Turn on the radial grid to position the terrain according to gravity.
Add Terrain Objects
Add terrain objects from the scene fragments library (F5), texture library (F3), your files or any website by dragging them onto the scene.
Position Terrain Objects
Select and drag terrain objects (TOs) to move them. Check out the shortcuts and the clickable widgets next to the TO for some editing functions. The most important ones are clone (C), rotate (R) and edit mode switching (D).
Deform Terrain Objects
Toggle on bezier edit mode (D) to change the shape of your TOs. Shape them to fit the radial grid and create more interesting terrain. Clone your TO and align it with other TOs to build your landscape.
Add your Planetoid to the Asteroid Belt
Add the "Mappable" tag to the scene to make it appear in the asteroid belt for everyone that downloads it. Only make it mappable if it fits well into the asteroid belt.
Save your Planetoid
Now save your planetoid in the editor. After saving it will appear in the scene library(F5) where you can share it by dragging out the planetoid PNG or uploading it to the workshop.
