Introduction
I'm seeing a ton of people complaining about how hard it is to get 800 dashes for the Uber Dank Drifter costume, so I wanted to make a guide on the easiest way to do it. Also, this is my first guide, so sorry if things are formatted funny.
How to become an Uber Dank Drifter
1. Make your way to the agility shop. It's located towards the top of the main hub.

2. Inside, you'll find the training area to the right.

3. Turn off your controller! You'll need to be using your mouse and keyboard in order for this to work.

4. Place the aim reticule to either the left or the right of The Drifter

5. This part can get a little tricky. Hit spacebar (or whatever your dash key is) and begin your dash combo. Doing this will make you dash back and forth across the reticule.
*Do not move your mouse at all!*
Timing is key, so if you don't know how to dash consistently, practice it!
See "Tips" if you are struggling.
The Reward

After completing the challenge, you will gain access to two rooms. The left room (unlocked at 100 dashes) contains a gear bit. The right room (800 dashes) contains the skeleton of the legend himself. Don his gear, and become the next Uber Dank Drifter.

Thanks for reading!
Tips
  • Change the dash key to something you're comfortable pressing.

  • The first few dashes have more time inbetween them.
  • The speed ramps up after about 5-6 dashes, then caps. The timing on each dash stays consistent throughout the rest of the challenge. I believe it's a dash every quarter second.
  • Counting the dashes in intervals of fours helped me keep my timing to 800.

If you're on Linux/Steamdeck and are getting RSI pains... well you might notice that windows people have autohotkey scripts and there was another comment for mac but nothing for linux...

This worked for me, logged in on an X11/Xorg session (didn't test if it works on XWayland but maybe?). Anyway, requires you to have xdotool installed. I was running the game via proton experimental but should work for native version too.

1. have a terminal open and game open
2. in the game, be in the dash shop with controller disconnected/off
3. alt+tab to terminal and run (e.g. type or paste the command then hit enter):

sleep 10s && xdotool search --name 'Hyper Light Drifter' key --repeat 810 --delay 260 --clearmodifiers space

4. alt+tab back to game and put mouse cursor on the dash strip like the guide mentions

I made it 810 repetitions just in case but I ended up with the full amount.

Thank you for this strat! I've been obsessed with this achievement for years. Every once in a while I'd come back to this game and take a shot at it. I'm glad to finally know there was a less grueling solution after all this time!

I kind of hate how effective this is, but appreciate that it's a very effective shortcut. I'd gotten over 500 on my controller, but just wanted to be done with it. Gave this a go and got it first try. :steamfacepalm:

I did this with a controller and I was so proud. Then I had to replace my pc and I lost the cloak. But I think this will make me want to play again if it works.

Using songs this achievement is easier, used Crystal Cathedral - GHOST DATA and got it first time after many attemps tempo-less

I'm playing the game on steam deck, and this strategy works for me. Haven't hit 800 yet, but I'm gonna get there.

good guide, figured out this method on my own and it seems like the only reasonable way to do it without sitting there for days
probably not how devs intended this to play out, but considering this is the "style over substance" game with many resulting flaws, cheesing anything you can feels great :rjumendoka2:
