Working with modding tools

Basicly a quick explanation on how the modding tools work.
I hope this will help some of the pixel artists that want to edit some sprites.

No don't want to
Ok so first things first to extract sprites you are going to need.

Disgaea Tools <-- to extract sprites from the game.

Thyme's tool pack <-- to convert png back to .TX2.

Thyme's Disgaea patch <-- you will use this as your base file so make sure you have a back up.

After you have those we can start the process of extracting the sprites.
The sprites are located within the "patch" so what we are going to do is get them out of there to edit them. We open up the file manager from the "Disgaea Tools" pack.

Now we've opened that up we can take a look inside the patch.
Locate the patch file open it up and you should get a screen looking a bit like this.

Out of this .dat file you can get all the tx2 files those are completely editable
and we also want to export ANM00.dat <--- it's where all the character sprites are hidden.
(to check what sprite you are looking at right click a .sh file and open it)

Once you've exported ANM00.dat and opened it you should get something looking like this.

Here you just export everything as png that you want to edit.
DO NOTE WE HAVE NO WAY TO PUT THE SPRITES BACK IN THE FILE SO FAR.
this means you can edit and work on it till we find a way to put them back in again.

-----

Ok now i broke it i dont know how i did insert png files but now i cant anymore lol.

I actually discovered that you don't need to convert some of the TX2 files im not sure if this works for every file but so far you can just have to right click and choose "replace, but keep name" and then choose the edited PNG you made :).

A few steps ago you could export all the .TX2 files, for now they are useless we gotta convert them to png so we can edit it them.
This is where you open Thyme's tool pack;

Open up the second tab the TX2 editor here you can import the TX files and export them as png.
This tool is also used for converting them back into TX2 which makes it possible for you to edit the files and put them back in the game.

things to note
> character sprites max 16 colors
> all of the TX files go up to 255 colors

Results of me trying to edit a random orb in game: Old ----> New

Yeah, hate the game speed, geo panels and moving around, and a pair of other things, but if game was a bit faster (1.5x proly), would be less annoying

Any idea on how to speed up the game?
