The difference between Coalition and Soban faction info guide
By EmptySoul01
This guide will help you know what is the difference between Coalition or Soban units and abilities. The Soban are made for long range and anti armor battles with their railguns but cant fight mass units like sandskimmers or LAVs. Soban Carrier and Battlecruiser have Sunder -4 armor passive ability.

Carriers

When using Soban carrier rails sometimes is best not to level up the turret network to level 5 just level 1 for the missile and level up range systems to level 5 giving you sniper advantage. When testing both super missile in the map kalash teeth firing cross the map one end to the other the speed is same, 16 seconds for Coalition and Soban. The Armed Logistics Module have its ups and downs when compare with the turret post and coalition logistics. Sensors at level 0 is smaller then the coalition one so puting 1 level point will make it up but level 5 will become a powerful scout tool. The damage output and rate of fire is low even with level 5 compare to turret post but it can stop enemy fire and movement with AOE that can be chain with other armed logistics for a lockdown.

Battlecruiser

Soban battlecruiser have more range then the coalition one but trades the area of effect damage thus cant fight mass waves.
Baserunner

Both baserunners are the same just the turret post is replaced by soban targeting jammer. Placing the targeting jammer in areas that is hard to shoot at like behide hills or structures. Having a few soban baserunners for a big upcoming battle just to drop mutiple targeting jammer for stoping mass waves. Does not work on enemy carrier. It slow down enemy speed by 10%.

Be aware that your own units are affected by the targeting jammer as well, including your own Armed Logistics Modules. This will cause your defensive turrets to simply not fire on enemies. Manual targeting doesn't work either.

If you want to use them together, you need to deploy the targeting jammers in front of the armed logistics modules. This won't help you against enemy railguns or other long range craft (they have enough range to simply shoot past the jammers to your turrets on the other side) but it is an excellent combo for breaking an early Sandskimmer rush.

This is informative, concise, well-argued and well-presented. Thank you for your work.

One additional change undocumented here is the railguns. Soban railguns get an ability that allows them to temporarily switch from their main gun to a targeting laser, increasing all damage dealt to that target. Not sure if there's any other differences between them

Soabn and Coalition have the same way to increase fleet size by using Logistics Module for Coalition or Armed Logistics Module for Soban both cost 250 CU.

Hi, I'm a noob to Homeworld DOK and I have a problem. When I play the coalition in skirmish
mode, there's a button to increase fleet size, but when I play the soban there's a button to
increase production rate but not fleet size. Is there some other way to increase fleet size I
don't know about or is this a common bug for which there's a patch or is something else going
on?? Please help, I like this game, but I'm becoming quite frustrated
