Raidey's Class Overhaul [Legacy]

Description
WOTC VERSION: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1156019522

***INTRO***

Overhauls the classes by disabling the vanilla game's classes (excluding Psi Operatives) and adding 8 new classes. Also changes the layout of the perk trees. Starting at the Squaddie rank, classes have mandatory perks they take at every other level. As for the other 3 ranks, you can choose from 3 perks, depending on how you'd like to further customize your characters. This gives classes more focused roles while still allowing for some flexibility. These classes also have custom icons (The Psi Operative class also has a custom icon so it matches the new ones, but there are otherwise no changes to the class itself). Should be compatible with any other class mod.

WARNING: This mod makes the game somewhat easier, ESPECIALLY the early-game. I recommend playing on a harder difficulty and/or installing other mods to make the game more challenging.

To re-enable the vanilla classes follow these steps:

1.Navigate to your steam installation folder, typically C:\Program Files\Steam or something similar.
2. Go to: ...\steam\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\663914425\Config\XComClassData.ini
3. Delete the following lines:

[Ranger X2SoldierClassTemplate]
-NumInForcedDeck=1
-NumInDeck=4

[Sharpshooter X2SoldierClassTemplate]
-NumInForcedDeck=1
-NumInDeck=4

[Grenadier X2SoldierClassTemplate]
-NumInForcedDeck=1
-NumInDeck=4

[Specialist X2SoldierClassTemplate]
-NumInForcedDeck=1
-NumInDeck=4

4. To disable specific classes that this mod adds, delete those same lines (NumInForcedDeck and NumInDeck) from each of the class templates that you'd like to ignore. For example, if you wanted to remove the Raider class, you would find [Raider X2SoldierClassTemplate] and delete those lines under it.

IMPORTANT: Requires Enhanced Perk Tree in order to work properly, which can be downloaded from either of these links:
http://www.nexusmods.com/xcom2/mods/153/?
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=621327373

The mod currently does not add any new skills to the classes. (However, I am tinkering with creating new skills using the mod tools, so they may come in a future update. No promises, though.)

Note: This mod may not be 100% balanced, but I have tried to maintain as much balance as I can. Please provide feedback if you think something should be tweaked or changed!

***CLASSES***

RAIDER
A front-line CQB combatant, the Raider can equip Shotguns but specializes in melee damage. They can also choose from skills to enhance their survivability, movement, and Shotgun proficiency. Raiders gain small Aim bonuses and moderate Health bonuses as they level up.

Squaddie: Slash and Blademaster
Corporal: Ever Vigilant, Deep Cover, or Shredder
Sergeant: Run & Gun
Lieutenant: Implacable, Blast Padding, or Aim
Captain: Bladestorm
Major: Shadowstep, Untouchable, or Chain Shot
Colonel: Reaper

ASSASSIN
Our Assassins are stealthy units that strike from the shadows with Sniper Rifles or Pistols. Though they don't have Squadsight like Hitmen do, they can choose from skills to improve their movement, pistols, or rifles. Assassins gain moderate Aim and Hacking bonuses as they level up.

Squaddie: Fire Pistol and Conceal
Corporal: Implacable, Return Fire, or Aim
Sergeant: Phantom
Lieutenant: Ever Vigilant, Lightning Hands, or Deadeye
Captain: Shadowstrike
Major: Shadowstep, Faceoff, or Death From Above
Colonel: Serial

HITMAN
Hitmen are capable of taking out enemies from a distance with Sniper Rifles or up-close with Swords. Choose from abilities that enhance swords, accuracy, or stealth. Hitmen gain large Aim bonuses as they level up.

Squaddie: Slash and Squadsight
Corporal: Bladestorm, Longwatch, or Shadowstrike
Sergeant: Deadeye
Lieutenant: Implacable, Aim, or Shadowstep
Captain: Death From Above
Major: Blademaster, Hail of Bullets, or Conceal
Colonel: Rupture

GUNMAN
Gunmen are recruits with little military experience, but have proven to be effective with small arms. However, with practice, they can improve their skills with Assault Rifles, supporting abilities, and overwatch fire. Gunmen gain moderate Aim bonuses and small Health bonuses as they level up.

Squaddie: Fire Pistol and Quickdraw
Corporal: Aim, Holo Targeting, or Ever Vigilant
Sergeant: Return Fire
Lieutenant: Chain Shot, Suppression, or Covering Fire
Captain: Faceoff
Major: Hail of Bullets, Field Medic, or Killzone
Colonel: Fan Fire

JUGGERNAUT
The sturdiest of all units, Juggernauts are defensive soldiers that use Cannons and Grenade Launchers. They can choose from skills to further enhance their grenades, cannons, or overwatch fire. Juggernauts gain large health bonuses as they level up.

Squaddie: Launch Grenade and Blast Padding
Corporal: Volatile Mix, Suppression, or Covering Fire
Sergeant: Untouchable
Lieutenant: Heavy Ordnance, Demolition, or Guardian
Captain: Deep Cover
Major: Salvo, Hail of Bullets, or Killzone
Colonel: Regeneration

SAPPER
Sappers are expert demolitionists that use Shotguns and Grenade Launchers. Their secondary skills improve weapon damage, support abilities, and survivability. Sappers gain moderate bonuses to health as they level up, and start with a bonus ability: Biggest Boom, giving grenades a chance to crit.

Squaddie: Launch Grenade and Heavy Ordnance
Corporal: Steady Hands, Shredder, or Deep Cover
Sergeant: Volatile Mix
Lieutenant: Chain Shot, Demolition, or Blast Padding
Captain: Salvo
Major: Deadeye, Holo Targeting, or Untouchable
Colonel: Saturation Fire

ENGINEER
Engineers are robotics experts equipped with Cannons and Gremlins. Choose from secondary abilities that increase effectiveness of the Gremlin, overwatch fire, or explosives. Engineers gain large Hacking bonuses as they level up.

Squaddie: Aid Protocol and Hack
Corporal: Scanning Protocol, Ever Vigilant, or Demolition
Sergeant: Combat Protocol
Lieutenant: Threat Assessment, Guardian, or Volatile Mix
Captain: Haywire Protocol
Major: Medical Protocol, Killzone, or Salvo.
Colonel: Capacitor Discharge

MEDIC
The Medic, as the name implies, keeps our troops healthy on the battlefield. They use Gremlins and Assault Rifles, and can learn skills to enhance their support abilities, overwatch fire, or Gremlin abilities. Medics are extremely weak compared to the other classes, but start with two additional abilities: Mark Target and Energy Shield. They are powerful support units, but should be kept out of danger when possible.

Squaddie: Aid Protocol, Field Medic, Mark Target, and Energy Shield
Corporal: Holo Targeting, Guardian, or Scanning Protocol
Sergeant: Revival Protocol
Lieutenant: Suppression, Covering Fire, or Threat Assessment
Captain: Medical Protocol
Major: Shredder, Killzone, or Combat Protocol
Colonel: Restoration

@DigitalWizard
Good news, I actually found the issue and have finished tweaking the trees to work with WOTC. I'm just about ready to upload the new version in a few minutes. Just note that I have incorporated the perks and weapons from the LW Secondary Weapons mod, you'll need that mod in order to use the WOTC version. Stick around!

Dang. II love this class mod, and was even in the middle of an ABA + this classmod campaign before LW2 got announced. It feels like just really simple but awesome changes- other classmods often feel like they try to add too much brand-spanking new stuff. But, if it's not gonna play nice with WotC then... rip me I guess.

Any chance this would be compatible with War of the Chosen?
Raidey  [author] 9 Jul, 2017 @ 11:54am
It is not, no. I'm waiting for the expansion before I touch anything else.

Is this updated for LW 2?

@johny247trace
Sorry for the late reply.
I believe the mod is fairly well balanced and haven't heard otherwise.
By default the mod will not cause any newly obtained soldiers to be able to gain the vanilla classes. It does not affect old characters in any way, they'll still have the same vanilla classes and skills.
