[S&H] Informations about the R&D Branch

The S&H R&D branch has been drastically modified since it's opening , 8 days after the Beta Base Incident . It has sustained several changes , but is still astutely handled to make S&H Ind better . The heavy subject about this guide is the R&D Role , Composition , and it's uses .

History of S&H R&D
- January , 31st : S&H group was created

- February , 12th , 9:00 AM: Beta base was created

- February , 12th , 3:00 PM : Radio contact to Beta base established

- February , 15th : R&D branch was created , 2 members

- February , 21st : R&D branch gets bigger , 10 members

- March , 1st : R&D branch gets even bigger , 50 members

- March , 2nd : Beta Base Incident*

- March , 10th : Dissolution of R&D Branch .

- March , 15th : Second R&D Branch was created

*Beta Base Incident (Abbreviated BBI) : The March , 2nd , in the morning, Black Mesa raided the Beta Base R&D Buildings ,murdering 49 S&H engineers and destroying 5 billions of hardware. The last engineer , Billy Kleiner , has survived a siege which durated 6 days . For his courage , he has obtained the S&H War Cross . Murderers have been located, and executed according to the S&H Chart . This day is like a renewal for S&H Ind , and the calendar can be based on this date : 1 year a.BBI , 2 months be.BBI ...
The S&H R&D Branch
The R&D branch occupies a preponderant role . Their main role is to equip our base with all the stuff it needs ,such as Rovers , and Cameras . our Engineers help each other . Most of them are good at everything , but several engineers excel in several sectors .

  • Alien Biologics (Sector B-1) : This sector classifies Alien Species

  • Global Biologics (Sector B-2) : This sector applies known theories , and experiments

  • Animals Biologics (Sector B-3) : This sector classifies Animals

  • Viral Biologics (Sector B-4) : This sector classifies , tests , and eradicates Viruses

  • Land Transportation (Sector T-A-1) : This sector works on land vehicles

  • Aerial Transportation (Sector T-A-2) : This sector works on air vehicles

  • Nautical Transportation (Sector T-A-3) : This sector works on sea vehicles

  • Handheld Equipment (Sector T-B-1) : This sector creates handheld equipment , for both Battlefield and HQ

How to be part of R&D
To get your R&D Pass , you must follow several steps , accomplish some tasks , and these steps depend on the Sector you want to join .

To join Biologics :

- You must know how to use Wire , and at least be able to make a working Wire Oscilloscope , to create a period

Alien Biologics : You must know at least who is Bobb, and be able to introduce his specie

Global Biologics : You must be able to classificate species according to their character traits

Animals Biologics : You must be able to help Global Biologics Scientists in their roles , and you need to know what those guys are doing .

Viral Biologics : You must know how to control a Virus , and how to make it deadly .

To join Techology :

- Your main tool is Wiremod , so you probably should know how to use Targets Finders , Beacon Sensors, GPS , Constant Values , Vehicle Controller .

Conveyance : You need to know how to master Weight Tool .

Land Transportation : You must be able to make a Wirecar , with brakes , and possiblity to add weapons .

Aerial Transportation : You must be able to make a Wire Plane or a Wire Chopper with , as a vehicle, a single seat .

Nautic Transportation : You have to know how to make an easy-to-use Wire Boat , or a Wire-Submarine .

Spatial Transportation : You must be able to make a good Space Station, with a good Elevator system .

Facilities : You must be able to make a Wire Radar , using a Ranger .

Handheld Equipment : You must know how to make a 2-Ways portable Tchat system , using 4 screens .

Fixed Equipment : You must know how to make a Wire Alarm system , using the Wire Radar .

Deployable Equipment : You must be able to make a Deployable Radio Antenna

Unmanned Equipment : You need to know how to make a WIre Detector, using Trigger & Indicator .

To join Armament : You need to know how to a Wire Homing Missile

Weaponry : You need to know how to use Increment-Decrement gate on Hydraulics .

Ballistics : You need to create a Wire system to analyze Speed , and skew of a random projectile

Engineering Centre : You must know what is a weapon composed of , and be able to reproduce it using Wire Hydraulics .

Self-Controlled Weaponry : You have to know how to make a Wire-autoturret using at least PewPew , Wiremod , and a Ranger .


Defensive Weaponry ; You have to master the Prop Spawner , and be able to use it in a plenty of situations .

Active Weaponry : You have to make an EMP projectile using Wiremod .

Passive Weaponry : You have to make a manned WireTrophy System .

Self-Controlled Defensive Weaponry : You must know how to make a multi-turret, with auto-selected weapon according to targets encountered .

All of these things are exams , that you can pass for free , and once you passed it , you are part of the Sector you wanted . But note that you can only choose a single Sector .

If your exam failed, you can pass it again . If the second try failed , then you have a 2 days cooldown before trying again .
Usefulness of R&D
In fact, R&D is the center of S&H Ind. Without R&D , we loss all our potential , and we can't develop , grow up , and expand . R&D trades technology against money , pieces , and technologies, which open trading ways . Thanks to this branch , we trade with Aperture Science and Mann&Co.
