Cheat Codes
There are 6 cheats for BZ, and only work in Singleplayer modes such as Campaign or Instant Action. To activate a cheat, hold SHIFT + CTRL in-game, and enter the following codes. The screen will flash and a sound will play to indicate the cheat has been entered correctly. Any cheat may be entered again to toggle ON/OFF.
  • BZRADAR - All units are shown on radar
  • BZVIEW - Gives player free Satellite View
  • BZTNT - Unlimited Ammo
  • BZFREE - All Units and Buildings cost 0 Scrap and 0 Pilots
  • BZBODY - Unlimited Health
  • BZWINNER - Instantly Win the current mission

To unlock all levels, type IAMADIRTYCHEATER at the Mission Start Screen. This cheat may not be toggleable. This cheat may no longer work.
In-Game Editor (Singleplayer Only)
Precursory Info

WARNING: The editor contains and may spoil end game content.

Some limitations of BZ1's in-game editor
  • Can only be used in Singleplayer missions such as Campaign or Instant Action
  • Can not edit level geometry or scripts, can only place units or buildings
  • Map files cannot be saved or exported, but you can save your game normally using the Pause Menu

If you're interested in creating your own maps, or heavily modifying existing ones, check out the Dedicated Editor.

Accessing the In-Game Editor

  • Right-Click on Battlezone 98 Redux in your Steam Library, and select Properties

  • Click on Set Launch Options

  • Type /edit into the textbox, and then click Okay

Once you are in-game:

  • Open any Singleplayer map (any levels from either of the Campaigns or any Instant Action maps)
  • Hold CTRL and press A

Once you have opened the editor, your Unit Command Interface will be replaced with a menu to select a faction or type of buildings. Here you may select any unit or building within the game, from a playable faction or otherwise. Make sure the green box is visible on the ground you are looking at, otherwise the object will not be placed. To edit or delete any objects, you must use the 2D editor (see the section below).

While using the in-game editor, all animations/actions will be suspended, and the player may move freely throughout the map (including noclipping through units and buildings).

Any of the Point of Views (POVs) will work within this editor (such as SHIFT+F2 or SHIFT+F10). F10, satellite view, will allow you to place units at your cursor, move them by clicking and dragging, or delete them by clicking, holding, and pressing Delete on your keyboard. SHIFT+F1 is the default POV.

At any time, you may press CTRL + A to exit the editor and resume playing.
In-Game Editor Part 2: The 2D Editor
Special thanks to JimL2112 for this information.

The in-game editor also comes with an advanced interface in the form of a 2D map of the terrain, showing all objects, paths, and other information within the level.

To access this interface, press Shift+F9. To navigate the interface, move the map using your arrow keys, and zoom in/out using the + or - keys.

In this map you will be able to access the multiple menus by pressing their corresponding number. Most of these menus are self explanatory.

  1. Control - Allows you to find and edit paths, and edit tasks and objects. Selecting Edit Objects will allow you to select any object placed on the map, indicated by the colored boxes, and move it (by left-clicking and dragging), rotate it (by right-clicking and dragging), or delete it (by left-clicking on it and pressing "Delete" on your keyboard).

  2. Draw - Toggles what is shown on the map. Simply select any of the items to toggle on or off.

  3. Edit - This has the same function as pressing CTRL+A. In-Game time will pause, and switching out of the interface will allow you to use the editor as described in the previous section.

  4. Resource - Adds and subtracts the amount of Scrap or Pilots either team has.

  5. Build - Will place any object at your cursor, the same as the menus in the previous section.

  6. Team - Designates which team the placed objects will be on. Team 1 is the player. "Default" will place the unit or building on whatever team they belong to (Soviets will be placed in the Soviet team, etc.).

You may exit this interface at any time by choosing any other Point of View. Shift+F1 is the default 1st Person view.

Beyond me unfortunately

what even is the label for?

Gotcha. I haven't touched this game since 2016 so pardon my rustiness.

I never messed with labels so I'm unfortunately not sure about making a non-driveable unit, like a Recycler or Fury, driveable.

You can alternatively try to spawn a unit on the Player's team then tell that unit to pick you up in-game. Not sure if that answers your question.

what i mean is can you make a unit driveable through the label change

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with custom units so I don't know.

Step 3 of this modding guide might help you, it mentions modifying the unit list visible in the game editor.

is there a way to change a unit into a custom unit from the editor such as changing the label or something

@Ralii Thanks, added BZWINNER and replaced the IGN link. The old IGN page got taken down looks like.

Another Cheat that isn't posted here is BZWINNER < great for if a mission bugs out on you.
I had Hook, Line, and Sinker on the Red Odyssey bug out where after it tells you to take the enemy APC and go to the portal it would never register this event happened. rendering me unable to proceed mission wise. PS to Sith your IGN link no longer works assuming u meant to have it go somewhere.

You can place a friendly unit and command them to pick you up, and delete or recycle the previous vehicle afterwards. If you want a tank from another team, just go into the 2D editor and Select "Team 1" before placing them with the "Build" menu.
