Omega Mining Platform

Description
A large mobile mining platform, capable of landing on and taking off from a planet, moon or asteroid, and drilling into it's surface to mine for ores deep below the surface.

Features:

100% vanilla - no mods.
Survival ready.
Full conveyor, Oxygen & Hydrogen system.
Refinery
Assemblers
Medical bay & cryo pods
4 Large cargo containers
8 Gatling turrets
4 Interior turrets
4 Jump drives
Multiple Hydrogen, Atmospheric, and Ion thrusters- can be toggled on and off separately.

Control room has 2 seats for piloting the ship- one for in space ( ship flies nose-forward ), one for in-atmosphere ( ship flies bottom-down ).

Security station for controlling defense turrets and cameras.

Control seat for operating the Drilling machinery.

Controls are laid out as simply as possible, can be operated by one person but is easier with 2 or more.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Due to current issues with SE being derpy, you may experience the drill shaft stopping after short distances- if this happens, simply unlock & lock the main landing gear quickly using the button on the hot bar, and it should carry on drilling. You will know when you can't drill any further as the drilling arms will be near-horizontal. This is simply one of many bugs affecting ships when they are near to a planets surface, and/or have landing gears and moving parts on motors- can't be helped at present, waiting for Keen to fix it.

ADDITIONAL:

I strongly recommend setting the Safety Over-ride speed to 0 ( zero ) when flying around in order to prevent the Motors from exploding when the inertia dampers kick in. Once you have landed, you can raise the over-ride back to maximum again. Also remember to lock the Drill shaft landing gears when flying around, in order to prevent the shaft suddenly shooting up or downwards when the inertia dampers kick in.


Summary:

This 'ship' took me a long time to get right, going through half a dozen or more iterations in order for it to function smoothly and stand up to use as an industrial piece of machinery, as well as a mobile base that can travel between planets and defend itself from pirates and raiders ( the gatlings shred small ships from all angles... ).

@Samino2- I don't even remember myself, it's been so long. If reversing the rotors ( hotbar button ) doesn't work, you might need to turn up the strength on the rotors as Keen have changed a lot of stuff in the game since I built this. I'll update all my creations sooner or later to take advantage of all the new stuff they've added...

@Mew- probably a side effect of all the stupid changes over the years; they tried to make rotors and pistons more stable, now it self destructs by locking landing gear & the rotors are weaker in general. Go figure- the ship itself shouldn't be exceeding any limits, it's not very big at all compared to some stuff on the workshop- poke a few more settings maybe, not sure what else to suggest as it pastes into Creative mode just fine in that sense, for me.

Hmm, I've tried:

Shared inertia tensor on/off = still explodes as soon as you lock the main landing gear.
Rotor lock on/off = still explodes.
Shaft lock landing gears locked/unlocked = still explodes.
Along with all possible combos of the above mixed together = still explodes. The rotors also no longer have the strength to hold up the weight of the drill shaft once it starts moving down- it gets faster & faster and damages itself. Turning off sub-grid damage might help but that's basically the same as making the drill invincible, which is cheating. I need to make a new version of this sadly, SE borked it up just a bit too much...

Check your game settings and make sure block limit is disabled.

im having an issue with placing it down. it says cant place ship would exceed regulations

If I remember correctly I had to undo the safety lock feature on the rotors to keep it from exploding- it worked fine after that. Its been a while since I played, so I could be wrong about that particular setting fixing it.
