Introduction
The large buff Special Infected Zombie a.k.a. The Tank is probably one of the most powerful infected in L4D alongside with The Witch.

It's appearance is BIG and moves like a Gorilla[en.wikipedia.org]. Definitely hard to miss when you see him in-game.

The Tank. ☛ A gorilla.

See the resemblance?

Moving on...
The Tank!
Fun Facts No.1: Tank's Speed!

  • The Tank is slower than a survivor with GREEN health bar.

  • The Tank is faster than a survivor with YELLOW or RED health bar. Have fun outrunning him.

  • With the Adrenaline Shot, The Tank can eat your dust.

  • The Tank's speed dops when he's being shot at.

  • The Tank's speed does not vary during the day or night.

  • In Campaign Mode, if you lit The Tank on fire, his speed will INCREASE. Talk about adding fuel to fire.

Fun Facts No.2: Tank's Booty! I mean Body.

  • Shooting any part of The Tank's Body will deal the same amount of damage to him. The head, torso, hands and legs doesn't matter to him. Take your pick.

  • Should be quite obvious from the fact above, The Tank doesn't really have head. No bonus headshot damage on dear Tanky.

  • The Tank can't be shoved (right mouse click). This is quite obvious. I mean look at his size. You'll need a bulldozer or a wrecking ball to shove this guy.

Fun Facts No.3: Attack of Titan.

  • The Tank have 2 types of attack; The Falcon Punch and Rock Throw.

  • The Tank's punch will hit you if you stand too close to him. This includes being near to his sides and back as well.

  • If you get hit by his punch, you will be stunned for a second or so and of course you will gain the ability of flight momentarily as well. So if you get hit by him in a close compartment, you can kiss your green healthbar goodbye.

  • The rocks that were thrown by Tanks can be broken. This can be done by a melee hit, bullets (shooting at it) and by throwing things at it as well. And by throwing things at it I mean literally anything that can be thrown such as gas cans, propane tanks, pipe bombs, molotovs, bile jars and even the cola bundle. All you need is good accuracy. Well you see, a jar of puke > 100kg rock. I don't see a problem there. Anyway's the logic behind this is that the rock will break when it impacts on whatever it comes in contact with first. If you're trying to break it will bullets, dont be stingy with them.

Did you know?
Tank Music

  • The Tank has it's own theme song!

  • In the campaign Dark Carnival, The Tank have a different cue music.

  • You can visit the workshop to change your Tank theme music. *HINT HINT* Click here to see my workshop submissions.

Saferoom

  • No. Just No. You are NOT safe behind the doors of a saferoom. Tank > Doors. Remember you run can but you can't hide.

Other facts
  • Speaking of hiding, in campaign mode, if a Tank does not see or hit any of the Survivors within a certain time frame, it dies. It goes *poof*, vanished in thin air. Well not really but you get the idea. So if you really want to avoid the tank, hide your wives and kids! (including yourselves) or face him like a Boss!

  • Tank meets Melee? In case you're wondering, Melee deals a damage of 300 per hit to The Tank. The Tank have these following amounts of HP:
    > 3000 in Easy Mode
    > 4000 in Normal Mode
    > 8000 in Advanced Mode
    > 8000 in Expert Mode
    > 6000 in Versus Mode
So you do the math! Bullets or Melee? It's up to you~
Meat Tank!
Well that is all for this guide.
I hope this guide did actually help you in any sort of way.

Wrong. Melee deal 5% max hp of tank per hit so 20hit for all tank
P/S: melee deal 25% max hp of witch

actually no you can rarely but surely shove the tank which can prevent him from punching you, but most of the time it fails lol. yeah and like other people said only in l4d1 the tank runs faster when its lit on fire. fix those mistakes and ill give a thumbs up.

Error error does not compute.
Remember you run "can" but you can't hide.
Please fix your mistake.

Fact: if you have over 100 health, on expert, he will not incap you immediately. Because expert tanks are suppose to deal 100, the maximum number of health for survivor. Lol valva didnt see that coming

Thanks for correcting, maur0.

There are things to correct:

"The Tank is faster than a survivor with YELLOW or RED health bar. Have fun outrunning him."
-The reality is that if you have a mod to see the health of your classmates, you will know that if you have 40 up, you run 220 speed compared to the tank that is 210. If you have 39 for down, you run 150 speed.

"In Campaign Mode, if you lit The Tank on fire, his speed will INCREASE. Talk about adding fuel to fire."
-That only works in the original l4d1, in 2 it was removed and more or less when it burns it runs at 175 or 180 of speed.

"Melee deals a damage of 300 per hit to The Tank."
-Error, the melee weapons do not cause damage by number but by blows, that is, they strike the same blow. Against the tank you kill them 20 blows with any melee.

Well the rest is pretty well done. It was just those things to say.
