TOTAL WARHAMMER

Description
There is now a Warhammer 2 version of this mod. Make sure to check it out if you own the second title!

This is the greatest and best mod in the world.

Now ready for the Norsca update.

Main Points:
  • Expect longer, messier melee. Fatigue now only decreases attack, not defense, so as units get tired they are "stuck" in a sloggy melee. Throw fresh units into it and watch them deliver a proper slaughter.
  • Missiles are dangerous, like they were in previous total war games. Even goblin archers are not to simply be ignored, and your strategy must account for guns/crossbows that need to be dealt with.
  • This mod is geared towards realism and believability. At the same time I aim to maintain a proper and meaningful gameplay.

...in detail:

Battle Balance:
- Morale rebalanced; units won't swing back and forth as quickly and will not fight to the death as often.
- Fatigue rebalanced; Undead are immune to fatigue, as are steam tanks and gyrocopters, and the Green Knight.
- Speed, weight and bracing adjusted; fewer units will be comically flying around.
- Missiles rebalanced; generally slower and stronger, with a real difference between guns, bows and crossbows.
- Ammunition decreased for all units.
- Terrain effects on units rebalanced, wood elves and beastmen are more effective in forests.
- Outnumbered soldiers (fighting 1v2) take a penalty to defense.
- All shields now grant a bonus to melee defense, and the base defense of many shielded units has been adjusted.
- Peasants with fire arrows demoralize units hit, like in older Total War games.
- Slayers don't have shields.
- Greatswords have plate armor (85).
- Demigryph lancers have less armor piercing damage.
- Grail knights, grail guardians and blood knights are 24-man elite units.
- Blood knights have the "the Hunger" ability of vampire characters.
- Spell damage increased by 20% across the board.
- Vortex spells fixed, should damage all units properly regardless of weight.
- Miscasts are dangerous to any unlucky friends (or enemies!) near the spellcaster.
- The battle camera can be lowered closer to the ground.
- Units can be dragged into longer lines.
- Closer deployment zones.
- Tower range decreased, firing arc increased. Dwarf walls and towers have increased HP.
- Improved the movement of lords and heroes to be more responsive.
- Removed the ridiculous time limit to summons (including Krell).
- Removed the ridiculous limit to healing.

Battle Cosmetics:
- Blood knights reskinned to a red-silver look.
- Grave guard and Black knights reskinned to a black-armored look.
- Skeletons reskinned to have darker armors.
- Skeletons no longer move in sync. Grave guard now do.
- Grail knights, grail guardians and knights of the blazing sun do not have glowing lances.
- The Green Knight is less glowy, more like how he looks in his introduction video.
- Foot squires no longer look identical to questing knights.
- Chaos steeds are slightly bigger and no longer on fire (excepting Dorghar, of course).
- Chaos warriors now also use swords.
- Forsaken keep fighting after losing an arm (or two).
- Archaon's armor is black.
- Black orcs wear black armor.
- Savage orcs have varied warpaint colors.
- Greenskins are brown instead of red.
- Vampire Counts are black instead of red.
- Warriors of Chaos are grey instead of red.
- Dwarfs wear many colors.
- Argwylon wears amber tones.
- Lords and heroes rescaled.
- Improved blood textures on units.

Campaign:
- Campaign AI is better at prioritizing and will attack settlements with more confidence.
- AI cheats less on normal/hard, particularly as it relates to attrition and replenishment.
- AI agents gain XP normally as human agents.
- No more "10% upkeep handicap" for the player, so all upkeep slightly increased.
- Garrisoned troops cost 10% less upkeep.
- Raiding stance now also decreases upkeep costs by 30%.
- Channelling stance for Vampire Counts costs 25% movement and grants immunity to attrition, -50% movement.
- Replenishment rate rebalanced; generally lower.
- Regiments of Renown are not immediately available to recruit after being disbanded.
- Dwarfs enjoy a +4 resistance bonus to corruption.
- Occupation public order penalties increased.
- Characters get 1 more skill point every 5 levels and 2 more points at level 30.
- Kemmler's skills don't affect how fast Krell degrades (as he doesn't degrade at all) but add +25% health overall.
- Skills that grant resistance to attrition are buffed to double effect.
- Agents limited to 3 per type maximum, instead of 10 per type.
- Wounded characters stay benched for 5 more turns, except for Vampire Counts characters. "Hardy"-type skills buffed to -5 turns wounded, from -1.
- Campaign movespeed is now different between all-cavalry and mixed/infantry/artillery armies.
- Forced march nerfed to only +30% movespeed bonus and penalizes -20% ambush defense.
- Tireless march: Undead gain no benefit from forced march, but have a flat +20% speed bonus all the time.
- Zone of control has been increased.
- Vampire and Bretonnia factions can vassalize dwarf and empire factions through conquest (subjugate option).
- The randomized character traits have been reworked, they are now mostly positive (so there are no more rosters of crippled, maimed, blind and stupid characters).
- Changed traits: Balthasar Gelt (+10% wealth instead of +1 wizard cap), Karl Franz (+15% replenishment instead of +5% movement), Grimgor Ironhide (+15% replenishment instead of +5% movement), Mannfred von Carstein (+3% vampire success chance instead of +5% movement), Malagor (-5 public order and -20% replenishment rate in the enemy province instead of +5 movement and +1 shaman cap), Vlad von Carstein (+200% tribute from vassals and +2 lord XP instead of +5% movement), Isabella von Carstein (+2 vampire XP instead of +3 vampire cap), King Louen (+2 resistance to corruption instead of +10% movement).

I originally uploaded this just to get rid of "this mod is out of date" message on my end - But I am now committed to supporting it. This is a very difficult thing to do, considering every update breaks all the tables and deletes entries randomly. It's like The Creative Assembly wants to mess with modders.

If you find these changes awesome, you are great! Not many people would agree on such a long and varied changelist. It means we think alike - you will want to check out my Total War: Attila mod!

Bonus Modifications
Due to the way VFX mods work, I cannot include these in the base mod, or any other "normal" mod.

Instead, the "movie-type" .pack files need to be downloaded extra and placed in your Steam\SteamApps\common\Total War WARHAMMER\data folder.

TOTAL WARHAMMER NO-GLOW MOD - download link[mega.nz]

This mod removes the annoying glow of undead (all undead, no exceptions), the vast majority of glowy weapons, and a few "generic" buffs.

TOTAL WARHAMMER SMOKE MOD - download link[mega.nz]

This mod improves the smoke visuals of guns and cannons. Expect a small performance hit.

Good evening . I had asked for an update for the mod for part 1. because the launcher shows me that the mod is no longer up-to-date and I don't like to use non-current mods. I hope you understand what I mean. And a Happy New Year .
