Story Synopsis
The Korhana Republic was a nation unlike any other. The Executor of the Republic Senate, Hecate Turia, was seen almost as a goddess among mortals for her continued leadership of the Senate, and hence, leadership of the country. The country had no official head of state - the people voted on every major issue, and voting had become so universal that machines were provided to every citizen upon reaching the age of 16 so that they could contribute to their country's future. The Senate was a mouthpiece for the governmental parties to talk to the people and give their side to every dispute , almost like candidates or advocates asking for the people's support. Under this system of leadership, Korhana became a powerful and prosperous country, with its capital of Arcturus becoming one of the most iconic cities on Earth, as well as being a beacon of democracy worldwide.
Beta Storyline Campaign
BSC Event 1: Dark Rumblings

While on a patrol of the city, Pvt. David Maxwell of SOC discovered a suspicious hidden entrance in the corner of under District 24 of the city of Arcturus. The door was guarded by an armed insurgent, which was quickly dispatched by the private. Leading his squad commander, Cpt. Manakias Soldeus and their fellow soldier, Pvt. Artyom Zaryovich, to the site, they quickly discovered that the entrance led down into the city sewer system. Acting on suspicion, Cpt. Soldeus quickly pulled the team out of the sewer, reporting the information to Maj. Atrin Walker, who provided additional instructions after voicing his own concerns about the system. Under Walker's orders, the squad were to place thermal cameras and sensors throughout the sewer system, which was undertaken without incident.
Several hours past without any event - however, at 17:52 local time, activity in the sewer spiked. Maj. Walker assembled a squad of both SOC soldiers and KDF (new soldiers), designated Echo 1-9.

The team encountered heavy resistance in the sewer, fighting valiantly against insurgents in the sewer system. Initial cleanup and containment team reports estimate Echo 1-9 was outnumbered at least four to one within the sewer. In the fighting, Pvt. Zaryovich was killed while he was taking point. His service will be honored. At the end of the system, they encountered a stairwell that lead up into what seemed to be a field of corn. More insurgents were spread throughout the cornfield, based in an abandoned, five-story building. They were led by an unidentified man who had a facemask and respirator, and was armed with a flamethrower.

[18:22:23] Unknown: "What brings you here to invade our domain?"
[18:23:11] C-24A Cpt. Manakias Soldeus: "It is not an invasion. It is a defense of our bountiful nation, where we must live as brothers."
[18:23:56] Unknown: "I fully recall, that you dared to setup here."
[18:24:55] C-24A Cpt. Manakias Soldeus: "Dared to set up? How do you mean? As I've said - we are only here to keep our land safe! Put your weapons down, and embrace the future."
[18:25:22] C-24A Cpt. Manakias Soldeus: "The future is not in autocratic mania!"
[18:25:32] Unknown: "I have have no time for this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, open fire!"
//END//
Immediately after the insurgents opened fire on the squad, Echo 1-9 returned fire, eventually defeating a group of insurgents that were gathered above, below, and to the sides of the mysterious figure. Echo 1-9 then proceeded up into the building, neutralizing any remaining threats. However, at the top, the mysterious figure began to attack the squad with the flamethrower, pinning them down for several minutes. Most of the squad sustained moderate burns due to the flamethrower. In the resulting battle, a bullet managed to pierce his fuel tanks - the resulting chemical reaction caused the remaining fuel to detonate. After the explosion, the team were able to confirm the kill, and return to base later on.
"This represents a startling new development in the growing problem of riots in most major cities and towns. Although most of the insurgents were armed with crude weapons, several possessed Kalashnikov-style rifles, and the figure that can be presumed to be their commander had obtained that flamethrower in a fashion yet unknown to KLE. Up until this point, the rioters had nothing more than stones and knives. In addition, they had only been operating in small pockets in cities, and large shows of force were only during the largest of riots. However, these guys were organized, and they meant business. Whatever's going on... it's gonna get serious." -- Cpt. Manakias Soldeus, SOC.
