Multiplayer with Friends (Including Co-op)
By SlipperyJim
If you would like to play Chaos Reborn with your friends the game has built in tools to do so. This will allow you to request your friends to join you in Realms, or Multiplayer PvP and co-op. Here's how.

Step One: Add Friends
Open the in-game friends list.

This will automatically list any Steam friends you have who also own the game. If your friend is already listed here then proceed to Step Two: Set Up a Game.

If your friend is not listed then you will need to know their in-game wizard name. Click on 'Add Friend'. Enter the in-game name of your friend's wizard here. They will see the request appear in the 'Requests' section. They should accept it.

Quite Interesting Note:
At the time of writing the game interface does not inform you of pending requests you have received. You will need to check the 'Requests' button to see those you have made which are still outstanding and those others have sent you.

You can also request friends while in game if you should meet someone you would like to play with later. Simply right click their wizard name in the battle arena and 'Add Friend'. Again this will appear in their 'Requests' section. Personally I let the player know I have invited them if they are not already known to me.

Step Two: Set Up a Game
In Realms this is quite self evident - when you are engaged in a battle you will see the option to 'Request Friend As Ally'.

For other games you will need to both be online and use the 'Create/Join Custom Games' button.

From here you can create a live or asynchronous (asynch) games as you prefer.

Top Important Noteworthy Tip:

Use the back button to remain in this lobby and therefore potentially play the game. Use the 'Leave Lobby' button to well, leave the lobby and not be involved in this game. If you are setting up the game this will close the lobby completely. If you do this by mistake or design and someone else is creating the lobby they can reinvite you if they wish.

Secondary but also Groovy Tip:

The wizards will play in the order listed with the player in Slot A going first. Consider this when inviting players or placing AIs.

Tasty Tertiary Advice:

Your default status is 'Ready'. It may seem obvious but when all players are 'Ready' the host can start the game. In fact the game will not start until they do which is worth bearing in mind if you are setting up an asynch match. Any asynch lobby which you have joined will be listed in your asynch queue allowing to you go back and 'Ready' up or start the game as approproate. Do not leave/set your status to 'Ready' until you are actually ready for the game to start.

Onwards!

The main thing here is the player list. The defaults are the player setting up the game is in Slot A and the others are set to 'Closed'. Each slot can be set to a status:

Closed - no wizard will fill this slot.
Open - anyone can join if the game is Public.
AI Wizard - an AI Wizard - you can name them and set their AI diffculty.
Your Name - set your wizard to be in that slot. See the note about player order above.
Invite - invite a player from your friends list to join you in this game.

All your other game options are on the right - set them as you see fit. Note that if you have a pre-made named equipment configuration you can select it here. Should you need to pop out and set one up use the back button to get back to your configuration screen (as per Top Tip above).

Reiteration - as per Tertiary Advice above - do not set yourself to 'Ready' unless you are actually ready to play the game.
Afterword
That's about it. Should I have missed anything, made a mistake or have been unclear please let me know!

I recommend turn order AB AB AB with two teams by the way!
