Speedrun Walkthrough
Work in Progress

This Guide will give you the fastest run to finish your easier difficulty playthroughs and unlock modes that you will need for your later runs. Sections you can skip will be marked. Even though descriptions are brief you can assume that your first few runs will have some deaths until you really learn the game. You should expect your first full run to take you 1-2 hours if you're skipping all possible side quests, with an additional hour needed to make sure you aren't underleveled.

Most dungeons will have the exit to the next dungeon on the opposite end of where you spawn, so if you spawn bottom left, then the 2nd floor of that dungeon will be on the right side. Underground dungeons do not follow this logic and the next floor exit could be anywhere.

Z key's default action is Auto-rest/Auto-Explore. Auto-explore stops whenever an enemy is in line of sight. This will make the game a lot easier but it will crash the game the further you get through the game. So its helpful in the beginning but by the end you need to be able to just move normally around the map.

A lot of the game can be skipped but you will be severely underleveled if you skip some beginning and middle zones. If you find yourself underleveled, go back to lower level zones. Zone level is noted when you hover over an entrance to a dungeon. It will have a recommended level.

Start the Tutorial of the game to learn the basic mechanics. When you complete the Tutorial you will need to exit back to the main menu, start a new game, and create a new character.

Start a character on Nightmare - Exploration Mode. (depending on class or race they may spawn in different starting locations)

Human Bulwark for example starts in Trollmire

Explore Trollmire to floor 3 of Trollmire, defeat the boss in Trollmire 4 travel back the same way you came and Exit Trollmire or you can use the Rod of Recall which you should have picked up off the bosses corpse.

The Rod of Recall will teleport you back to the worldmap or your Fortress later in the game. Go into Inventory and rightclick-use. It takes 40 turns for it to resolve so you can hit Z to auto explore and run out the turns or click your character a bunch to pass the turn.

To your left on the world map when leaving Trollmire is the Ruins of Kor'pul

Go through Kor'pul to the last floor, beat the boss and exit/rod of recall.

Go to Derth which is just south of the Ruins of Kor'pul.

At the north of the town is an npc that will let you fight in the Arena

Fight in the arena, after beating them, it will unlock the arena to fight in. That is for another achievement and another guide.

Beating Trollmire and Kor'pul is done to move the questline forward to the next quest which has you explore 4 more places, but you can skip those and just go to Dreadfell. It is possible to skip it altogether and go to Dreadfell early but the game bugs out sometimes.

Go to Dreadfell. Explore to the bottom and beat the Master, he'll drop the staff of absorption.

Exit Dreadfell

Upon Leaving Dreadfell you'll have an encounter with Orcs, Kill the Orcs, then go to Last Hope which is east of Dreadfell.

Go to the center of town and talk to the mayor/click on the door to his house.

From here you may be high enough in level to unlock the infinite dungeon.

**********
To find out the code to unlocking the infinite dungeon within Ruined Dungeon Located above the small lumberjack village you must first defeat all 6 guardians to allow the orbs to be interacted with.
Make sure you pick up all lore along the way as this is needed in figuring out the code you have on your map! (You should have a total of 3 pieces picked up)
After doing these 2 tasks proceed to open the "Shown Known Lore" section in the main menu and organise the listing of the lore by category and scroll down to the "runined dungeon" lore section.
Now open up notepad or get a piece of paper and write each bit of the notes down seperatly!
To find the code you now must organise the full note by taking the end pieces and middle pieces noted by the ... endings and starts of them as seen below.
Finally in order of the whole note activate the orbs which make reference to the page in order of start to end (some lines will contain 2 meanings) to correspond them prompt the activation and you will be presented with what the "orb is X with"
E.g
The first line of my code is "The river flows in its bed of stone..." therefore I find a orb relating to it with in my case would be "The orb seems to drip water") therefore thats the start!
Some meanings may be more clear than others just keep trying.
Keep in mind as well that if you fail one you have to start from the beginning.

************** might put above in a separate guide.

you now need to go to Reknor to the mountains north east of Last Hope.

Grind through the dungeon in Reknor and you'll beat the boss Golbug , and gain the orb of many ways, move through to the portal and use the orb of many ways.

You are now transported to the Far East of Maj'Eyal.

There is an elf and an orc in front of you now. Kill Krogar the Orc then talk to Fillarel Aldaren the Elf then exit to the world map.

Go to the Gates of Morning, Talk to sun paladin; then talk to the Sun paladin again. he is now at the far right of the town. Exhaust all dialogue.

Then talk to the house right above here, that will be Zemekkys

The Orc Prides are located in the NEast corner, the NW corner (usually in the mountains), and the SW desert (2x prides) respectively

Go to Eruan in the desert. find the paladin with the portal, use the orb of many ways in your inventory while on the portal.

You are now in the scarred charred vale, go south as fast as possible, ignore mobs if needed, get to the bottom. there are two bosses, kill them, it opens a portal, use the orb of many ways again.

Now you're back in east maj'eyal

Go to Grushnak pride in NW. Enter Slmie Tunnel in Grushnak Pride (3)
kill
ascend high place, beat boss, rinse repeat on Insane

Also sometimes thinking about "how" to not die and how you would pull that off, for the majority of non-permadeath games, creates new strategies that make your non-permadeath, runs better.

"Speedrun games you love" - lobosjr
said during a Twitch stream

I naturally wind up looking at speedrunning the games I play most. It not only creates a new way to play the game, a new challenge. It gets me thinking about other ways to play the game, challenge runs.
