Archangel Stealth Frigate (Stock)

The Archangel was a prototype stealth attack ship designed by the HDY Design Bureau for Innovative Concepts (DBIC). It employed a revolutionary weapon system, the Gravity Cannon, or Gravgun, which used gravity generators to launch huge slugs from long range at stationary targets. The ship relied on a silent running mode to get into a range of roughly two kilometers from a target, quickly disable enemies and get out before the target could respond. The craft was capable of rebuilding ammunition, however its small cargohold set limits to this feature. The Archangel could launch two different slugs, each custom-built for the ship: The Arrow, a slug armed with a large warhead, and the Katana, which was faster but relied on kinetic damage only. Only two Prototypes were built by HDY and were extensively tested. The craft showed great potential, however it was very fragile and vulnerable if caught in close quarter combat.
The Silent Running mode allowed the ship to use its minimized shilouette to its full potential. It temproarily shut down all hydrogen thrsters on the ship to minimize the heat signature, rendering it basically invisible to enemy sensors. When running silent, the ship had limited control using the ion thrusters.
After almost a year of testing with the two prototypes, the project was taken over by the Jovian Inforamtion and Intelligence Service (JIIS), and became highly calssified. After this takeover, there is literally no information on the ship. Until this day it remains unclear if the project was continued or brought to a full stop. Following rumors, the ship could be responsible for yet unsolved mysteries around an attack on a neutral freighter, the Charon, which was apparently hit by a single slug of roughly twelve meters in length, the size of a Katana slug designed exclusively for the Archangel.
