Getting Homeworld 2 Classic Mods To Work
By THIS IS MY BOOMSTICK
This Guide will run you through the way i managed to get mods on classic to work, some of them still crash but the ones I've tested seem to run fine with a few bugs now and then, but thats to be expected.

As Follows:

First of all you want to find the directory from which you can create a copy of the homeworld 2 classic application shortcut, this should be in: Steam/SteamApps/Common/Homeworld/Homeworld2Classic/Bin/Release

You now want to create a shortcut for that application, preferably on your desktop.

Now that you have the shortcut created, you want to access the Homeworld2Classic Folder, then go to DATAWORKSHOPMODS - Then there will be a folder with a huge line of numbers, click on that folder. Now every folder in here has a mod in it that you have downloaded at some point in time, but i will take you through this using the homefront mod as a tutorial of sorts.

Now you want to move the Homefront BIG File Which should be about 500mb or so, the config file, and the preview image into the Homeworld2Classic/Data folder, Once you have moved those files into the data folder, there is only one more step.

Go to the shortcut you created earlier from the Homeworld2Classic Application, right click on it, open properties.

You will now see a box, at the top in the category you should be in 'Shortcut':

You should see a target line: Target:

I'm going to give you the Target lines that have worked for me:

Homefront Mod (Halo) - "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Homeworld\Homeworld2Classic\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe" -nopbuffer -mod Homefront.big

Mass Effect Mod - "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Homeworld\Homeworld2Classic\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe" -nopbuffer -mod MER.big

BattleStar Galactica Mod - "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Homeworld\Homeworld2Classic\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe" -nopbuffer -mod BSGFC.big

Stargate Space Conflict Mod - "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Homeworld\Homeworld2Classic\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe" -nopbuffer -mod SSC.big

Babylon 5 Mod - "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Homeworld\Homeworld2Classic\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe" -nopbuffer -mod b5wwev21.big

Starwars Warlords - "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Homeworld\Homeworld2Classic\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe" -nopbuffer -mod SWW06.big

Now any of these mods should work, if you have done exactly what ive said, it works for me

Good Luck Ladies and Gentlemen, been a pleasure trying to help people out.

Have you searched the mods files. to find a .big file?

Does this only works for workshop mods?

I can´t start Complex Simple (which can only be found in Mod DB)

Yes the shorcut that you have put the target line into is the way you'll open the game with the mods

So I'm keeping the shortcut once i've done this correct?

Add your Monitor resolution to the command line. Mine is 1600 x 900
-nopbuffer -w 1600 -h 900
Hope this helps you :-)

Hammon: the construction of target lines is easy, you just have to understand the compenents in the line.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Homeworld\Homeworld2Classic\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe [one space here] -nopbuffer [one space here too] -mod [one space here]
^this is always the same

last is the .big filename, it'll always be the name of the folder you've pasted into the core files and it will always have .big after it

I would like to ask if you would be able to provide working Target liness for a few mods for Homeworld Remastered, as I have a couple mods I would like to play but I am unable to due to Homeworld's oh so enjoyable launcher crash bug that has NEVER been fixed, other than that I am still able to play the Homefront mod, among other things thanks to this guide.

So thank you for that.

The mods that I would like to see Target lines for are the Macross, Gundam 0080-0083, and Complex 12 mods.

I would do it myself but I am not what I would consider to be tech-savvy when it comes to forcing mods to run.
