Diablo II Music Mod (Dallenson Edit) (v.50)

Description
NON-STEAM DOWNLOAD: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xx4xhmninsvpp0d/AACxopH7cwMd2vUJd9HGVtTFa?dl=0

NOTICE: Original credit goes to Wartinald and his original Diablo 2 Music Mod (W.I.P) . Credit should only be given to me for the CHANGES I have made.

NOTICE 2: This requires a few additional .ogg files (the in-game versions of Leoric and the title variant of Ancients) and they can be found at this [www.dropbox.com] Dropbox link, as with Wartinald's mod, extract it to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Torchlight II\music (Windows 7 64-bit)

NOTICE 3: I've had some bugginess testing out subscription to the mod with it showing up completely blank and not working at all within the mod launcher, a bit of fiddling around and removing a 4 byte file and subscribing to it works for me. Feedback toward downloading would be appreciated.

NOTICE 4: I have added a few more music tracks to the .rar. I recommend a redownload.

NOTICE 5: I apologize for this mod disappearing from your subscriptions. I was trying to figure out a bug in which subscribing gave you a 4 byte file that didn't work. I deleted the mod you've subscribed to in the midst of my troubleshooting and after figuring out I had to change the file name, it updates properly so please resubscribe to this mod

This first started out as a personal modification to Wartinald's music mod because I felt like certain music was misplaced and some were missing entirely (since I presume Wartinald's intention was to still let some Torchlight II music play), I decided to do my own take to add variety and more completely replace the soundtrack. He's given me permission to upload my own variant.

Changes Made:
Temple Steppes and it's phase beast areas play Wilderness.
Forsaken Vaults and Ancient Vaults of Chaos play Tombs instead of Sanctuary.
More Act III cave areas play Caves instead of Spider, the Sisters' Lair still plays Spider (Which fits very well, Spider reuses the main part of the Cathedral theme of the first Diablo game just like how the Sisters return from the first Torchlight, also, spider themed dungeon).
The Rotted Path also plays Spider.
First half of the Broken Mines (and the Avoid the Lava phase beast challenge) plays Mesa while the second half plays Leoric (like going from the River of Flame into the Chaos Sanctuary).
Character creation/loading screen plays the shortened version of Ancients like in Diablo II: Lord of Destruction.
The Estherian Enclave no longer plays Rogue, the setup of it swapping between Enclave Morning and Enclave Evening themes overwrites any music changes to the ruleset and instead Rogue plays in the Imperial Camp since it fits more with that theme.
Boss room of Corrupted Crypt, The Bone Gallery and Rotting Crypt plays Crypt.
Vyrax's Tower now plays Temple like the Forgotten Halls did.
The bossroom of the Forgotten Halls and the top of Vyrax's Tower plays Ancients. (For some reason Thiss does not have it's own boss cue, the whole room uses the theme).
Crows' Pass plays Siege and Widow's Veil plays Ice.
Wellspring Temple and Watchweild Temple plays Monastery.
Blightbogs and Cacklespit's Realm plays Jungle, I'm not sure if a jungle theme fits with a swamp area, let me know.
Rivenskull Gorge and Sundered Battlefield now plays Kurast.
Abandoned Sawmill plays Kurast Sewer.
Reeking Cellar plays Kurast Sewer.
Plunder Cove plays Kurast Sewer.
Bandit's Stockade plays Kurast Sewer.
Empty Quarter plays Valley.
Phase Beast Challenge areas now play themes in respect to the areas that they are found in (Siege in Frosted Hills, Desert in Ossean Wastes, Valley in Salt Barrens, Jungle in Blightbogs, Kurast in Sundered Battlefield).

Mapworks maps now play a respective theme:
Forsaken Vaults style maps play Tombs.
Fungal Caves style maps play Caves.
Forgotten Halls style maps play Temple.
Corrupted Crypt and Rotting Crypt style maps play Crypt.
Broken Mines style maps play Mesa.
Wellspring Temple and Watchwield Temple style maps play Monastery.

More of the title screens have their own changes:
The Regent in the Steppes plays Wilderness instead of Fortress.
Manticore in front of Zeryphesh plays Toru instead of Valley.
Ezrohir Snatcher screen plays Desert instead of Valley.
Ossean Wastes play Desert instead of Valley. (So sick of hearing Valley a lot when starting the game. Sorry, Wartinald)
Imperial Camp with the automaton plays Rogue instead of Bog.
Blightbogs screen plays Jungle.
Sundered Battlefield plays Kurast.
Minehead with War Titan plays the Pandemonium Fortress (later half of Mephisto) instead of tl2dungeon.

Things I cannot do:
I cannot replace area context soundtracks for Wicker Grove and Slavers Camp, there's nothing in the level sets allowing me to do so.
I cannot replace boss themes because A: they are also context based and B: Diablo II(: Lord of Destruction) did not have any boss sounding themes of it's own.

Demarki. The way GUTS works when editing level sets is that there's only one music track and different ones cannot play (discounting the Estherian Enclave's night theme and the music that plays when approaching either Wicker Grove or the Slaver's Camp in the Frosted Hills). So when you enable this mod, the song for a given area will be replaced entirely but the mod can of course be disabled to go back to the original soundtrack.

@Dallenson Hello, does this mod replace the original TL2 music, or it just adds more variety by adding more tracks? Do the TL2 and D2 music tracks play at random, or how does it work exactly?

Sorry to hear that. I recommend deleting local content (back up your character files of course!) and deleting the entire directory, then reinstalling and trying again. Maybe accessing the Torchlight 2 directory in the Steam folders requires admin privaleges or something. Hope it works for you in the future.:outlander:

Reporting back to say that it isn't your mod's fault, my game is fucked up for some reason.

I can't run this mod even if it's the only one I'm running; I downloaded the external music files and put them in my Torchlight music folder, but it wouldn't run before I did that either.

Nice mod!

I sadly cannot do something, it shares the same soundset with the gem items for :died: and boss eye socketables. If I could give items more unique sounds, I would do that 100% but I feel like that requires making new sound banks and modifying the sound banks that each item uses which I feel at that point could start conflicting with mods such as those that change socketable properties.

Hello,

This is actually a great mod I really like it, it gave a really good/better Diablo atmosphere to the game.

I would like to ask two things, if it possible to do it could you :

- Put the same socketable skull sound to the skulls ?
- Put the same sound effect when you pick Khalim's remains, to the socketable eyes of the game ?

Maybe it's not possible to do it, since they are all in the "gem" category, if that is, forgive my questions.

Best regards.
