Intro
As the cutscenes would suggest, you begin in the forest - while construction workers cut it down.
Your goal in the game is to save the forest and stop the source of the construction workers...

  • Enemies have set attack patterns which you will learn over the course of the game.
  • In each level, you aren't required to defeat all the enemies.
  • You can't hold down the fire button to attack. 10 bullets = 10 buttons pushed! :(
  • You start with 3 lives.
  • You may break cages to replenish 1 HP from any damage taken.
  • Several actions will completely destroy a life. Examples: falling off the edge of the screen, and some platforms, spikes, liquids, etc.
  • Boss battles usually involve repetetive actions, jumping over the enemy to avoid damage, and the boss speeding up when it's HP is lowered.
  • When you need to jump over a boss, make sure to do it while the enemy is moving toward you (usually the middle of the screen) - not when it's closest to you (edge of the screen). Otherwise, you can't clear the jump! Most bosses are too large to simply double-jump over.

Level 1 - "Save the Forest!"
Your first boss will not deal contact damage - which is great, because he's a bit tall to jump over.
  • It doesn't matter how close you are to him while shooting.
  • As long as you jump when he's ready to slam the ground with his axe, you will not be damaged.
  • As his HP winds down, he will move faster and create a shockwave that extends across the screen instead of his normal range.

Level 2 - "Metal vs. Wood"
This boss WILL deal contact damage. Stay away from the walls!
  • This boss cannot be damaged until you knock him off his contraption.
  • A crane will appear after the enemy runs a few laps around the room. Shoot a few bullets from the top left or right platform when the enemy gets to the bottom right corner of the room to hit him.
  • If the box is already on the ground when he gets to the middle of the room, his contraption will just slice through it.
  • As the boss' HP bar goes down, he will go faster around the room.
  • While waiting for another crate to appear above, stay on the top left platform and just fall down to the middle when the boss starts climbing the left wall. Repeat.

Level 3 - "Stop the Construction!"
This boss will likely require some practice. Make sure to jump over him while he's moving toward you, instead of when he's closest to you.
  • Make sure you are in the far left corner when the boss starts shooting.
  • When the boss is done shooting from the right, he will jump high up over the left side of the screen, then move towards you on the right.
  • Since the boss deals contact damage, you need to follow the advice for jumping or you'll fall on the enemy's pistol and take contact damage when he is moving from the left to right.
  • You will have the opportunity to do the most damage when the boss is shooting on your right, rather than on your left when he's moving towards you.

Level 4 - "On a Boat"
This boss has a pattern it follows, but watch out for the mouse that spawns on the left. It can catch you off guard.
  • Always keep moving. When the crane stops to reach down, stop to the left or right of it and damage it.
  • The mouse behaves like others in the game. It will run for awhile, then stop for a few seconds.
  • Keep the mouse off the screen, as it will get in your way. if you can't take it out when the crane reaches for you, just jump over it. Then turn around and take it out.

Level 5 - "Steaming Forward"
In this fight, you have the option of staying on the upper platforms. You should only be up there while waiting for the captain to change direction.
  • You can only damage the captain while he is facing you. In addition, he cannot be hit even when facing you while you're shooting from the upper platform.
  • The captain will spawn a sailor out of the left or right (alternating) door after a few swigs from his bottle. Drop down below while the sailor is facing the other direction, ideally on the far end of the screen.
  • When the captain belches, his sailor is usually hit and despawns. (Don't stand nearby while he is doing this...)
  • When the captain raises his gun, he shoots in a set pattern: above-diagonally, straight out (will still hit you if you're standing on the above platform), then below-diagonally (will hit you if you're on the deck). Ideally, you will be on the far left or right platform when he starts shooting. Only dodge the 2nd shot (straight out).
  • The captain will not change direction while shooting. If he starts shooting toward the left, jump over his head, and he will continue shooting toward the left. You are unharmed this way, but cannot damage him until he turns around. Again, you may just want to dodge the shots, depending on where you stand - so you can get some damage in!

Level 6 - "In a Dangerous Land"
Only hitting the hooked tentacle will damage the boss. The hooked tentacle only appears on the far left or right of the sewage. Watch for bubbling to see when it will appear.
  • Other tentacles will appear as the boss' health goes down. These tentacles can damage you, but mostly block your shots.
  • The regular tentacles will disappear when the hooked tentacle reaches the opposite end of the screen. They need not be damaged. Watch for their reappearance as the sewage bubbles. They never appear on the far sides of the screen - unlike the hooked tentacle.
  • Focus your firepower on the hooked tentacle. You can double-jump and turn around to hit it as it sweeps across the screen.

Level 7 - "Dr. Pink"
This boss has two parts. One is a race against the oncoming slime wall, then there's the fight.
  • During the race, stay running on solid ground. Double-jump to move while on platforms that slime can bubble through.
  • During the fight, you will need to double-jump while the boss is moving.
  • While the room is filling up and flooded, you will need to hop between barrels. If you like, you can double-jump straight up to kill time while barrels resurface.

Level 8 - "The Source"
Aside from being the most frustrating level in the game, you get no break or health refill for the stages of the boss battle. The actual fight consists of three phases. There is Level 8 leading up to the first stage, then a bit of a race, then parts 2 & 3 on the roof. Try not to fall!

Some tips on Level 8:
There's a few obvious hazards in this level and a few obscure ones.
  • First off, we have the armed guards. It seems they can only shoot in 3 directions. You will never have a problem with them shooting diagonally upward, but they can shoot straight forward (hitting your feet on platforms) and at two angles diagonally downward. There are a few ways you can tackle them. Make sure to vary your jumps. Sometimes you will want to shoot multiple times while airborne. Another trick is to move toward the guard while they are shooting. Since they have a fixed shot (not homing), you can dodge this way.
  • Another hazard is the moving platforms. If you are halfway on a moving platform, it's possible for you to be squished into a wall. Avoid standing near the edge. Avoid going back for HP refills, as you can increase your chances of this happening. Always board elevators going upward, and just below the platform you're on. This makes it easy to avoid nearby hazards and getting wall-squished.
  • Horizontally-moving platforms are best to slide off onto a nearby platform. Do not jump onto adjacent platforms unless necessary. Otherwise, you may end up on a purple spike (ouch). Moving platforms may not touch on each cycle, but after a few cycles they will. You will figure out the pattern from practice if you can't get Level 8 finished in one go. You will also notice that, getting through a level quickly will let you board platforms at the right time.
  • On the 4th screen of Level 8, there's a few routes you can take. Go straight to the top, and to the right. Do not go toward the seeds on the left, that's a dead-end (unless you want the score boost). This route is the easiest, and will take you straight to a 1-HP refill. The other routes do not include this.

Part 1 - The battle!
  • Stay on far end of screen while the boss is spinning/shooting. You won't get hit if you stay still in the far corner, as there's a safe space between shots. Don't get too close, or the shots facing down/diagonally will hit you.
  • You cannot hit the boss while he is spinning, but have some bullets on the screen as he is stopping (you are still in-range to hit him while on the far end of the room). When he is done spinning on the left side of the screen, he will hop over to the right.
  • When he stops spinning on the right, he will walk over to the left. You will get the most damage in when he is walking from the right to the left side!

Part 2 - The chase!
  • This is a race against the clock. You must follow the boss - but he gets to take shortcuts.
  • Don't bump into him, or you'll take damage.
  • You will go up a little bit, then to the left. Be careful ascending that side, as there's a flamethrower a few steps up. Follow the boss again to the right.

Part 3 - The countdown!
  • Again, you're racing against your remaining time in the level. However, you now have an additional restriction of 50 seconds on this leg of the race. Your level timer is penalized, too!
  • Watch out for the lasers! They turn off at major openings, so you'll need to either follow them closely, or squeeze through a gap in platforms as the laser turns off going the opposite direction. This ensures you are a few seconds ahead when the laser turns back on.

Part 4 - Confrontation on the roof!
  • Phase 2 of the boss fight is much like the first. You cannot damage the boss while he is spinning. You will get most of your damage in while he is walking around. Do not walk to the edge of the "room", as you will fall off the roof to your death.
  • While the boss is spinning, he does no damage, but generates a strong wind. Before he starts spinning, get as close to him as possible, and walk towards him while the wind is blowing.
  • Be careful not to double-jump, as you will lose more ground than when using the strategy above.

Part 5 - The final challenge!
  • This last leg of your journey is a bit tricky. The boss will float around in a circular motion. He will shoot missiles at you which electrify the ground and damage you. Try to double-jump when you expect the ground to be hit. Again, contact with the boss will damage you.
  • You cannot damage the boss by shooting him. You must eliminate the missiles stuck in the ground. Each one destroyed sends a shockwave through the boss, taking a large chunk of his health.
  • You can dodge the boss when he's floating toward you by standing near the edge of the platform. There's not really an ideal way to tackle this boss phase, as you are probably worn out from the entirety of Level 8. Congrats when you make it past this last phase of the game!
