Well here's my guide to make a map that is not complete trash. (Like my first maps were and most i make to this day) The reason I decided to make this guide was because I find many unbeatable or just boring maps on the workshop.
Disclaimer: Im not the greatest at making maps myself but I have played more than 500 different custom maps and I know what makes or breaks a map.

Here is a few things to keep in mind while making a map.
1. There has to always be a way to win.
There always needs to be a weapon available. If you give them 1 or 2 guns and somehow they manage to empty all the ammo from it there has to be another way to win or your gonna ruin someones game especially if theres no way to commit suicide then your just stuck.

2. Make it unique.
There is no point in making a map that looks similar to another map because it probably will not attract much attention.

3. It may sound stupid but make all platforms accessable.
In the editor it is harder to see what can and can't be accessed by jumping so make sure to test it out.

4.Don't be afraid to try something new
All good maps are unique or at least somewhat different from most other maps.


5. Make a cool title
No ones getting your map called ''My First Duck Game Map''

Custom Tiles
Im not going to teach you how to use these since im no pro myself but theres many good tutorials on google if you can find them.

What is that?
I personally found it hard to get used to the duck game map creator but eventually i learned a few things.
Fun Beam It pretty much just activated whatever falls through it. Example an unarmed grenade that falls through it will now be armed
Wires
Wires are used to activate things. If you connect a wire to a button, it will activate the wire when someone steps on the button. Attaching the wire from the button to a trap door or something can be use to manipulate the map and add some pretty cool mechanics. In my personal opinion proper wire use usually makes a map much more enjoyable. To learn more about wires I would suggest just messing around in the editor however there are some better tutorials out there that can teach you more in depth should you be confused.
Saws and spikes
The difference here is saws are gonna kill you no matter what while spikes wont if you land softly on them or have shoes.
Doors
Looking for that locked door but can't find it anywhere? Thats because you just place a normal door and press edit on it and select locked. If you are looking for that space door its called verticle door and its seperate from the normal door.
Make a background
If its boring no ones going to like it.
