Maintain weapon playstyle steroetypes until just the right moment
Change fighting styles regularly in longer fights
Use terrain to your advantage; if you see lots of high swings, pace your way to lower ground to reduce your enemy's effective swing arc
Health is a resource meant to bestow confidence upon your enemy; take advantage of it
Remember you have feet and sidestep at the sight of very 'direct' attacks
Remember that there is a dynamic day/night cycle and take advantage of it by forcing your enemy to fight in the direction of a rising/setting sun to disguise your movements
Another use of the day/night cycle is the ability to use shadows on the ground to spot additional enemies from behind you
If fighting on a duel server, remember your oppenents' fighting styles
If your opponent has an attack pattern, use halfswording/sheildbashing and kicking to stop an expected attack
