BlackHawke's Soldier Classes Mod

Description
NO LONGER SUPPORTED: Classes are now in the new and improved BlackHawke Highlander Mod.

The BlackHawke Mod adds a whole slew of new classes for your enjoyment. They’re designed to offer robust immersion and allow for a variety of styles of play. It also includes a number of convenience mods no player should be without

But there would BE NO MOD without the stellar work of Grimey, Long War Studios, and the developers of Shadow Ops.

The first three classes are from our Omega’s and Cyphers packet (Based on Omegas and Cyphers from the Killdroid Rising trilogy by N. Lamar Soutter). These androids are used in hacking, support, and assault roles. They can learn and become stronger against each enemy type they kill, and are immune to Poison, Psi, and mental effect attacks, but they also can’t be healed in the field and take extra damage from electrical attacks.

The Aegis, Tank, and Commander classes offer support roles. The Aegis can heal and buff, the Commander comes with passive buffs for his squad, and the Tank can draw fire and absorb a lot of damage.

Bladestorm, Wolfblade, and Gunblade classes primarily rely on swords and small arms. They do a lot of damage up close, but as frontline units need protection (and the occasional rescue). Bladestorm engages multiple opponents, while the Wolfblade can recon and do more focused damage. The Gunblade can engage multiple targets at range or up close for moderate, distributed damage.

The Biotic is a combination Psi-Op and solder, capable of doing well in either field. The Voodoo Priest combines DoT and AoE attacks. The Neuromancer is unarmed in the traditional sense, but can be a powerhouse if carefully developed.

Cyphers and the Ghost class can both recon, but while the Ghost has a second solder skill tree, making it a silent killer, the Cypher is a master hacker. The Sentinel, meanwhile, is primarily an overwatch based fighter.

These units are meant to be somewhat OP—they’re for use in Legend and/or Iron Man mode, for people who want to make those play modes a bit easier.

I just recently learned of the Friendly AI Mod. That mod is AWESOME; I hope you’ll check it out. Ads a whole new level. BH Mod has an excellent synergy with FAI, and I hope you’ll try it! FAI really supports this class diversity and is an expanded way to play.

Version:
This mod works WELL, but it still isn't quite finished. One or two classes aren't done (the Juggernaut class, for example)--so they've been disabled in the INI--and a couple things need cleaning up (description, icon, etc). I wasn't going to release it just yet, but I've been having SO MUCH fun with these classes that I figured I bring them out. My favorite are the Commando, Ghost, and Biotic, and Voodoo Priest, but all of these bring something special to the field. If I modify a class, it gets a free, full respect opportunity from the promotion screen, so no broken classes, and you can reset your skill-trees.

I’ve got some Screenshots of the classes. I figured some Mass Effect characters would make it more interesting (and the classes are similar. It helps me to remember who’s my sniper when I see Garrus on the squad).

Any bugs, please let me know. I’ve enjoyed this mod myself, and I want to ensure you do too! I may not have time to respond to all comments, but I'll do my best to fix bugs in a timely manner.

Balance:
As I said, this is unbalanced in vanilla. I recommend legendary mode, and “A Better Advent” and Friendly AI for much more fun and balance.

Hey, is there any way you'd be willing to re-publish the classic vanilla Gunblade class mod? I'm just coming back to a/the game, and that was my favorite class out of all of them. I haven't made the jump to wotc, sadly.

Please and thank you!

Was quite far on an update. But too many people complained about the mod who didn't understand it, got tired of the flack. It IS a highlander mod, which merges other highlander mods and makes all of the mods compatible with each highlander mod compatible with all the others (like 2, 3 and 7 perk skill trees and each compatible mod). Obviously a number of people enjoyed it, which I'm happy for. I may get back to it (I miss it, and the mod cleaner function not available anywhere else), but have really been on other projects. Will see.

Hoping this mod is made compatible with WOTC as well. Was using this as a "Primary mod" which to build around my game balance, choosing mods that made the game harder to counter the added power this mod brings.

That's an old request, and will do it for WOTC. But for now we have the highlander mod available here: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1135135495

Or, yknow, not pack in 2 dozen mods that people don't want when they're trying to get a class pack?
Arkhangel 13 Sep, 2017 @ 5:16pm
think you can actually seaparate the classes out so people don't have to get classes they don't want?

We've compiled a WOTC version. Haven't tested.... Nervous that it compiled so easily... Suspicious, but will test it.... We compiled the highlander version includes ALL Longwar material baked in, as well as 2 dozen mods not yet WOTC ready.
