[Updated Guide] Get Nearly Any Source Asset Into Source Filmmaker
By Capt Fuzzy
In this guide, I will show you how to get nearly ANY Source Engine asset into Source Filmmaker using current, updated techniques.
I'm doing this to update most of the old and outdated guides that show the "old way" of porting Source Engine assets to SFM.

Introduction
I decided to do this guide to fill a rather large gap in the way things used to be done versus how they can be done today.
In this guide, I will update the techniques used to extract assets from Source games like, CSGO, Black Mesa, Half-Life, Half-Life 2 (and the Episodes), etc.

There isn't a huge change to the old way, but there are changes that are important as some of the "old ways" are causing more problems than they are fixing, so here we go...

A Little Info...
I decided the easiest and best way to do this was a video tutorial, that way you can follow along as I walk you through how this is done.

NOTE:
You must own these games and have them installed for this tutorial...
This tutorial covers models, props and assorted assets.
NOTE:
Maps can also be extracted using this guide, but usually do not need to be extracted with GCFScape. Just look for the 'maps' folder and copy what ever .bsp files that you want to use.
Depending on how the maps are stored, they can be aquired along with the assets and at the same time. As long as the maps are in .bsp format, they should work in SFM, but there are no guarantees. Some maps work while others don't, and there are dozens of reasons why this is, and I will not even try to explain them all here.

Please, DO NOT ask me to port these assets for you because you do not own the game.
I WILL NOT DO IT!
I WILL NOT risk a permanent ban of my Steam account just so you can 'cut corners' and try to get something for nothing.
Buy the game and do it yourself, it's not hard.

One more thing, I make no guarantee that your extracted models/assets will work perfectly in SFM.
Most of the time, they do, but there are some that do not work well without further work done to them. I will not be covering how to fix these in this guide.
Help can be found on the SFM discussions on how to fix these models/assets...

Wanted to update the Black Mesa files in SFM.
Which files do I need to extract to SFM correctly?

Basically, if it was made by Valve Software, it's a Source engine based game.., generally speaking.
