Overview

So you are here because you want to play ｈａｃｋｍｕｄ in a borderless window. So what do you need to know to do this? Well if you can copy and paste and know how to press a few keys or use your mouse that is all you need to do this!. Since you are playing ｈａｃｋｍｕｄ I am just going to assume you are capable to do such things

Command Line Settings

The first thing you will need to do is add the command line paramaters needed.

Open Steam and select ｈａｃｋｍｕｄ
Right-click and choose properties
Choose Set launch options
Paste the following into the launch paramters
-popupwindow -screen-width **WIDTH** -screen-height **HEIGHT**
Replace **WIDTH** and **HEIGHT** with the resolution you want to run at.

So an explanation of each

-popupwindow well this is what runs the game as a borderless window
-screen-width **WIDTH** This forces the screen to this width overriding any configuration
-screen-width **HEIGHT** This forces the screen to this height overriding any configuration

The following is an example of running the game at 1920x1080
-popupwindow -screen-width 1920 -screen-height 1080

Adjusting Game Configuration

So now we will need to adjust the game configuration to finialize this.

Launch ｈａｃｋｍｕｄ by clicking play then hold down the ALT key on your keyboard
Check your taskbar. hackmud should launch a window that says ｈａｃｋｍｕｄ configuration. When this appears you may release the ALT key.
Next to resolution, check the box that says Windowed
Ignore any resolution set here as it will be overridden by the command line paramters.
Complete! Now finish launching the game!

The reason for this is the -popupwindow argument does not work when the game is running in fullscreen.

That should be it you should now be enjoying your game in Borderless Windowed Mode!

for some reason, im not getting the config window you refer to in the guide?

This trick actually works for games other than this too, this is something I'll definitely bookmark and remember for any unity game.

OR, you could just install borderless gaming and put hackmud into a window then use borderless gaming :/

I had the same problem as you but found a solution that worked for me:
1. I started the .exe directly while holding ALT.
2. Deselected Fullscreen and chose my desired resolution.
3. Pressed Play (this sets the configuration)
3. The game would then start, but close down again.
4. Now you have to start the game via Steam and it should start successfully in the saved resolution.

Everytime you want to change it, start it directly with the .exe in the game folder again (step 1) but to play, start it directly from steam.

If you removed the paramters there is no way for it to effect your game anymore. Even then it in no way should effect the way the game connects.,The paramters are built into the Unity Game Engine which the game is built on. You will need to make a support topic with more details(such as the error exactly) somewhere and maybe somone can help you.

Did this, now whenever I run the game the terminal gives me an error and signs me out. Undid commands, validated game files, tried uninstalling and reinstalling, nothing worked. Locked out until this gets fixed or I find a way to get past this.
