Prologue to Fight
After merging with the crystal Talos becomes Heighou – the game’s final boss and the primary evil deity of the game.

He’s a dozy and has many phases. If you’ve played games like World of Warcraft or Knights of the Old Republic you’re going to have an easy time adapting to his abilities and finding your way around him to the easiest path to victory. If not, it’s not that hard of a fight but he has a lot of one-shot mechanics and can easily stun-lock you if you’re not careful.
Pre-Fight
You’re going into the fight as Tal, and only with Tal. Max him out as best you can. You have 30 levels to decide how you build Tal. Max out his Power and Skill.

Blade Spark and Iron Warrior help a lot. Do not use Blade Dance during the fight.

Keep in mind once you enter the fight the only way out is through death or victory. Think carefully and max level up before entering the final fight. Also, some points will be inaccessible once you’ve reached certain points in the game (ex: Illumina castle will be closed off to you once Talos becomes the bad guy) so it would be best to level up as much as you can when you can.

I hope you know his mechanics. Best trick is to use his left-click attack three times for best and quickest damage pump. Anything longer and you run the risk of being stun-locked to death.

Give any Obs you get to Tal.

Runic Blade works best if you have it -- four found wolf totems needed. Do combination upgrades like life drain and mana regen. Considering the boss hits hard, life stealing may not be a bad option.

Totem 1: South Courtyard. Press the Switch and run to beat the timer.
Totem 2: New Bright Water/Bright Water Beach. Easiest one to miss. Talk to light house keeper, and four people on the docks and the gal by the fountain near the docks. Head to beach and fight the mobs. Go in nearby shack to reset beach fight. Pick up all crates that spawn. Rinse and repeat.
Totem 3: Transentia. Air ship Dock Puzzle.
Totem 4: Transentia. Robot Testing Fight. Hardest one to get since the fight is a beast. He hits hard. Bring like of life and mana regen, block attacks and hit him from the back when you can.

Phase 1: The Fight Begins/Default Phase
After a long cutscene (which you can skip) Heighou will charge you. Hold down your block and wait for him to attack a few times. You’ll learn the rhythm to his swings. You’ll be pushed back into the glowing wall, no big deal though. Generally, he attacks three to four times before recoiling back. Hold you block button down during his swings. Use the gap between each set of attacks to swing back. Left-Click combo worked best for me since he could take damage and still give me time to get my shield up. And flashing combos that make Tal spin or flip just result in himself getting hit, stun-locked and killed quick.

After several hits, he’ll switch to a random phase. See other Tabs.

Tip: Try not to use Blade Dance. As cool as it sounds to deal hundreds to thousands of damages one of the major mechanics to the fight is the fact that after a certain amount of damage the boss will switch phases, ignoring excessive amounts of damage. Also, Blade Dance makes Tal scoot back a few feet and makes him use a second of his ability to just get to the target. Not worth it in this fight.
Phase 2: Clones
Heighou will duplicate himself twice – making three copies of himself. The other two will act just like him in Phase 1 with attacks ranging in three to four sets in between breaks. Only one of these is the real guy, but the others have the same thick health bar.

Tip: Run. In a circular motion around the map. The other clones will fade out after a while, making this the easiest of the phases to deal with. He will return to Phase 1 after the clones vanish.

Phase 3: Summon Skull/Ring of Protection
Heighou summons a strange ring around him and becomes surrounded by floating skulls, one of which will rise from the ground and make your life Hell. I hope you brought that fruit that makes you immune to poison – you’ll need a few if you get hit. Here’s the rundown of the abilities:

Floating Skull: Three in total will pop up from the ground at separate times – only one is active at a time. If you stand still long enough it’ll charge at you but you can evade it simply by moving out of the way. If you get hit you’ll take quite a bit of damage, and be poisoned. Use fruit if you have it. The skull will follow you until you stand still long enough for it to wind up to charge.

Ring of Protection: While the skulls try to rob you of victory, Heighou will be chilling in the center of the arena, but he won’t be there long. His summoned circle gives him Haste, Damage Pump, and Regeneration. If you don’t have Blade Spark, you’ll have to block his attacks until you get a chance to swing, but be warned: not only does he regain health like crazy, he swings a lot faster, and hits Hard. After the two skulls vanish he’ll charge at you.

Tip: Blade Spark will save your bacon if you have it and enough Skill to spend. After the second Skull flys away and is no longer a threat start spamming Blade Spark. Not only will it stun lock Heighou (since he can be hit again even if he’s on the ground) but after enough damage it will knock him into the next phase – completely ignoring his damage/speed pump and regen. He may regen a little health, but that’s a small price for getting to stun lock him and speed up the phase.

Phase 4: Mighty Charge
When the scene shows him extending his blade, he’ll slow down time and charge at you a total of three times. Each hit deals a lot of damage. Blocking will not help. Neither will Iron Will (Tal’s 70% damage reduction) so the only way is to hold down block so you can dodge out of the way.

Spam Block with a direction such as left or up, depending on your angle. After the first charge attack, he’ll wind up for a second and then a third. This part is easy if you can time it correctly, but if you get hit you may need one of your drinks.

Phase 5: One-Hit Wonder
The only warning you'll have for this phase is a close shot of him, then he’ll charge at you and bring you down to almost no health. Run, and drink a potion when you can. If he hits you again, it’s an instant death.

Time it well. This is the hardest part of the fight because time is everything. Run and grab some space and take a drink before he gets close.

Vials and Drink that fully heal should be maxed out, since you’ll use them mostly for this part. You’ll only see this phase once or twice.

@Insomni, that's great! I only recommended not using blade dance because it doesn't last very long and found the damage dealt stops after a certain point. I can see building Tal around using it

....... just whooped his a$$ went all orbs to Tal lvl 26/30 i completely skipped the skulls phase only had 1 shadow clone phase like 5 slowdowns witch u can avoid buy just running straight away from him for the first strike and possibly the second for basic attack combos use heavy heavy light full chain or on Xbox controller X,X,A,A,A,A keeps hp up nice and he cant stop u then finally when he had next to no hp left and did the one hit wonder phase just heal up then spirit strike him with the 200 cost and he dies as it bypasses the invulnerability. all in all this fight was soo much easier for me now that when i orginaly played the game on orginal xbox

I never found spirit strike that useful. Can't say if it can be better in this fight or not.

Can you tell me: spirit strikes are usefull in this battle or not? Replay this game now and against Begemoth it had no sence at all.

is this a joke? you just spam ultimate attacks since youre unkillable when youre chargeing them, and you kill him in like a minute and a half.
