Description
The Vulture Guided Missile Boat is a multi-environment short range attack craft designed primarily to engage SSTO craft such as heavy dropships and transports. Unlike most guided missiles, the Vulture's Dragonfire missile is capable of operation in all environments, from a planets surface to the depths of space. This makes it perfect for engaging ships entering or leaving atmospheres as no matter their altitude, they cannot escape the missile. The Dragonfire missile is an unusual design for Hyperion Systems as it uses sensor triggered warheads as well as traditional kinetic energy for it's damage output. This can dramatically increase the damage on a good hit. While the Dragonfire missile is extremely versatile, the slow rate of hydrogen transfer means it has a lengthy reload time and pilots are advised to enter engagements with the missile preloaded.

The Vulture itself is a hydrogen powered Fast Attack Craft capable of operating in all environments. It's full hydrogen system gives the ship excellent handling and acceleration, but as with all hydrogen only ships, pilots must be mindful of fuel consumption. However, the Vulture has multiple Gas Generators and is rated to carry several hundred tons of Ice, which can extend the effective range in case of emergency.

Instructions

DO NOT FIRE OR RELOAD MISSILE WHILE MOVING
  • Missile is guided by the ships orientation. Whiplash141's Optically Guided Missile Script is basically industry standard these days, so if you've used a Hyperion Systems Guided Missile Ship before you should know what to expect.
  • Use Targeting Camera with Toolbar 4. After firing, you can use Precision Camera with Toolbar 5 for a more accurate view. If you use the Precision Camera before you fire it will switch back to third person when you fire. KEEEEEN!!
  • Fire Missile with Toolbar 1
  • Reload Missile With Toolbar 2
  • Refill Missile Generator with Toolbar 3 (Survival Only)
  • Green Light in Launcher indicates no missile loaded.
  • Amber Light in Launcher indicates reloading is underway.
  • Red Light in Launcher indicates Missile is ready to fire.
  • While in survival, the reloading speed can be increased to increase the amount of fuel in the missile by lengthening the delay of “Timer Block – Reload Stop”
  • The missile and the ship are both relatively agile, by manuevering as the missile approaches the enemy ship you can evade some turret fire. The missile fairs pretty well against Gatling Turrets but can easily be disabled by a missile. Luckily, this tends to hit the hydrogen tank, leaving the warhead to sail straight into the enemy hull. Bear this in mind when firing within atmospheres and aim slightly above the target.
  • Tilt nose upwards and use Liftoff Manager (Toolbar 6) to leave planets.
  • Disable Braking Thrust (Toolbar 7) to cruise in atmospheres..

Notes

* This ship uses multiple grids via rotor and so requires a BP for the Missile Assembly. You can easily make one in creative.

@5URG3 hello i just downloaded this bp today and have been messing around in survival with admin on to try and get a feel for it but i cant get the missle to refuel for the life of me and i dont know why

You should make a ship with the Easy Lidar Homing Script, to allow you to have fire-and-forget missiles.

@echoir Not sure how to help mate, but I wouldn't waste your time right now, small grid merges are broken, so it won't build properly. Typical SE.

I am having a dificult time puting in the small grid. I removed the roter head and built a small roter and tried to manuver that itn. it failed. so i built a drone to fly in the roter part as exactly as possible and it still failed. any advice?

Greetings
we of the Solaris Mining Corp apreciate your work. We have used assets such as this for the defence of our operations in the belt. However, with pirate activity on the rise we have found that we are unable to deal with th threate which they present. We are not able to dispatch our corvets for escorte duty as they are needed for defence and the destroyers are needed for frontline battle. What we request is a small carrier. This carrier would be little more than a ship built around an FTL drive and would contain the sole purpose of jumping two corvets into a hot zone and then jumping them back to there defensive positions before they are missed.
