Audacity
Open file, select all of the track
Effect: Amplify to new dB, run through compressor (also in effect)
test out the new sound
Make sure to save the originals, if the first method doesn't work use the slide bar on the left (Gain) and put that up a few notches, you can amplify too but always run through a compressor and make sure the waves aren't clipping (when the sound waves go out of the visible box)
Click the file name in the box where Gain is, and change the Rate to 44100Hz, and format to 16-bit PCM

@Jedi_Neko I gave up on this, it's too much work and I don't play this game enough to bother. I'll send the mod folder to anyone who wants to fix it up, they wouldn't even have to credit me for the original if they didn't want to.

So is there a way to fix audio? I love it but it just needs a bit more volume.

Oh, well there are always fourms and other sections of the internet dedicated to helping with this stuff.

@toughelite232 I imagine you could use Audacity for it but something tells me that the game drastically tones it down given that the sound files are much louder compared to in-game sounds. If that's the case then it'll probably involve messing around with scripts and such and I'm too dumb to be playing around with that kind of stuff.

On youtube and google there should be tutorials on how to tweek sound files, I believe there are some apps/desktop tools usable for editing how loud, and other things for them. :FBALL3::FBALL1::FBALL2:

@SlayerTheFox115
It was supposed to be louder, but I forgot that you can't do that in L4D2 or else you'll go deaf because of how many zombies are around at one time.

@Conscript Vladimir
I'll try to get around to it some time, I need a break because of how tedious it is to edit the audio files in Audacity and rename them a certain way. Sorry it isn't completely finished, but I wanted to get something out.

why were they only idle sounds replaced, instead of all?
