Yet Another Muv-Luv Extra/Unlimited Walkthrough
By gialzirou
Recent additions now include Extra. This guide is a bit more detailed than others out there, and is based on the All-Ages steam version. Most likely it will serve for all versions, but certain details will be specific to this version.

The Extra section is relatively simple, meant to cover as much ground in as little time as possible. In that sense, other guides might be better for exploring the story. Balancing everything is much more challenging in Extra, so One guide was made rather than focussing on any single character.

The story in Unlimited is less diffusive, yet more focussed. The setting helps make for more compelling reading, though I would not describe it as necessarily the better game. Opinions are likely to differ. The existing guide(s) tend to focus on making decisions necessary to obtain the desired ending, but this approach is pretty much pointless in Unlimited. It's possible to get access to all the girls' endings the first playthrough without this guide. No matter how badly you play, the game will force at least one heroine's ending. Meiya

This guide will have minor spoilers, and you should play a few routes in extra before starting unlimited and starting this guide,

Extra All-in-One (but not Harem) Route
I've decided to include a walkthrough for Extra here since I added all the Extras related sections rather than starting a page. This guide will give you the easiest access to all the endings (Heroine and common). The Harem route is alot like the Marimo Route (though it doesn't really exist in this All-Ages version. For the most part, you'll be avoiding points, except those necessary to get the desired end. Each (+1 point) face counts as one point. Unlike in Unlimited, the girls in Extra are competing with one another. So you have to be a bit more careful when you award points.

Congratulations you have obtained all 7 Extra endings (+1 Scene)
You will unlock the CG Gallery and Clear List in Extras.
You will also have unlocked 10/11 achievements available in Extra.

Extra Addendum (11th Achievement)
To unlock the 11th (Punch Drunker) will require a bit more work. You can obtain it if you start another new game and follow the Meiya/Sumika Route. It unlocked for me on 11/29 of my second playthrough. You should have it by the end of the second playthrough. It might take a little longer, since this walkthrough doesn't focus on Meiya/Sumika. In the above walkthrough, change your choice on 11/2

Q29 - 11/2 1. Stay with Sumika and Meiya (Sumika) (Meiya)

One of the Drill Milky Punches is found here. Most of the punches you see are NOT counted toward the Drill Milky Punch total, but I've recently confirmed that 11/2 (lacrosse arc) and 12/7 (Sumika/Meiya Route) also count, in addition to 11/29 (Sumika/Meiya Route). You can reload a previous save and just forward through the scene without needing to restart the game.

Alternately, it is possible to bypass a lot of rereading. if you have a quicksave close to one of the days, you can advance until before the relevant scnene and manually quicksave. You can just reload the game from the save and have each playthrough to the next scene after the Milky Punch count as an additional milky punch. This is alot faster than starting over, which is what I did originally.

You'll get another 2 achievements upon completing Unlimited. From there getting all the ends (and remaining 2 achivements) should be pretty easy. It is necessary to get all the normal ends for the final Unlimited achievement.
Unlimited:Takeru Tries to Stay Single (but fails!) Walkthrough
This is the guide I originally intended to make when I first made this guide. I backed out, thinking it would probably be more useful to know what choices lead to which results. But that's probably as boring as it sounds. This guide focuses a bit more on the Unique aspects of Unlimited, by way of contrast.

Unlike Extra, where you have to make who you want clear if you want their ending, Unlimited goes out of its way to let you know you're all in this together. While it makes sense in this setting, there's still some competition by way of choices, where there are just enough obligatory points to guarantee one end. On the other hand, even if you get all available points, if you focus on one character to the detriment of others, it's likely you will miss one or more endings in your first playthrough. This guide seeks to help you maximize that effect. There are no best girls in this guide-only what the game will force you to accept. Wherever possible, points will be avoided. Only the winner will have enough points to get to the end, and just barely. If Extra makes it challenging to get all endings in one go, Unlimited makes it challenging not to.

While I tried to minimize the amount of rereading necessary in the Extra Walkthrough, I will be maximizing it in this one, partly out of necessity. The last three episodes are rather long, over one third of the whole story in Unlimited in one playthrough. Fortunately, once you've read it, there isn't much by way of variation (meaningful or not) and Auto Skip is your friend.

And there you have it. If you want a more successful run, just reverse most of the decisions. Tama, Mikoto, and Meiya are guaranteed an end as long as you answer all the questions right, so you can better afford to spend the discretionary points on Chizuru and Ayamine. Ayamine has 0 points that don't compete with others, if you don't have her scenario in Episode 2 unlocked, while Chizuru has 1. Since the split point forces you to choose one or the other, the safest girl-focussed run has you play Marbles with Ayamine, and comforting Chizuru on 11/24. These two will usually be at risk of not getting an ending if you don't share the love at least a bit. The max points anyone can get is 6 for everyone except Tama, who can get 7 points, and Ayamine who can only get 5 if her scenario is not accessed.

Unlimited Questions and Points
This section will have a bit more detail to make it easier to see which choices affect which character. This information is more useful than knowing who's on screen, as dialogue usually indicates the proper response, where it matters. Some questions are fielding questions, designed to educate the reader or provide nuance to the narrative. Since this guide spoils the game mechanics, you might want to play through a few times before diving in. At least for me, figuring out how parts of the game worked was part of the fun. Unlimited in particular is rather simple to figure well enough to get an ending.

In short to have access to the various endings, try to answer the questions correctly and spread your attention a bit across the heroines. Unlimited is very generous with points, and you can still focus on making certain characters central to the important arcs and still have enough to get everyone to the end.

CG 100% (All Ages Version)
CG in the All ages version is greatly simplified. Art is unlocked based on which ending you get. It does not depend on accessing the corresponding scenario in game. This unfortunately means there is less incentive to return to explore and find new paths and scenarios. The amount of available art is also reduced. If you have all endings, you will have all CG.

There are 146 images viewable under 8 Major sections. Some hold more than one image, per clickable box, a total of 296. I have not tested the Director's version yet. The original had 650+ images. It's possible the director's version restores the Extras section to resemble the original as well, but I wouldn't be surprised if it merely adds more, and of a different kind.

This reads as follows: Ending: (Section Box#-Box#; etc..)

Numbers are from left to right, and top to bottom. 9 per page.

Extra:
Sumika Ending: {Sumika 1-15; Mikoto 1; Other 1-3,8,10-11,14-17; Chibi 1-14,17-18)

Music in the Game
The Jukebox is unlocked upon obtaining any end in Unlimited. It can be accessed from the Extras section, which is unlocked after obtaining any of the Main endings in Extra. Some tracks are spoilers, so you should avoid this section until you've cleared Unlimited.

There are 31 tracks available from the Jukebox. Opening and Closing songs are excluded from the Jukebox, as well as other conspicuous blanks. I don't know if there is a way to unlock other tracks, but I've obtained all achievements and even tried the DC version so this does not seem to be the case.

There are 2 new tracks, Drama Bomb! replaces a track for copyright reasons, and A Matter of Pride is a new track. Each of the other girls get their own ending theme, although these were made before the release of the steam version, but after the 2003/2004 versions.

3 openings are available from the Theatre, which is also unlocked upon completing Ultimate.

There are another 17 tracks available in game, found during gameplay. Some appear frequently, while others are quite rare. Another 2 tracks are listed for their musicality, but are played as sound effects. Finally, there is at least one track exclusive to the Director's Cut version. It plays during Yuuko's End. There may be others but I have not searched exhaustively. It's not clear whether the song is included exclusively in the patch or whether the patch merely changes the game code to use the song, already present, but not accessed. As such there may be other songs included in the game that are just not accessible through normal means. Many of these unlisted songs will appear more prominently in Alternative.

51 tracks are listed in the table below, along with track lengths. In game titles are obtained from other sources where available, or from their in game context.

Clear List (Points)
Normal Endings in Unlimited do not unlock anything, and do not grant points. They do unlock the Jukebox and Theatre, accessible if you've obtained at least one major ending in Extra. Extra common endings do not unlock anything, but grant one point.

It is nevertheless necessary to obtain all Normal ends for the Unlimited Complete achievment.

Points are awarded when you first obtain a Major Ending (*) in addition to that listed. 21 points for EXTRA, and 23 for UNLIMITED. There are 146 Total

Some Interesting and Hidden Things
It's possible to find new content even after repeated playthroughs. It's probably better not to clear every scenario in Extra before starting Unlimited. I found it more satisfying when these little details popped out, causing me to second guess whether I had imagined a difference and wonder what the cause might be. As such, even knowing these exist is a spoiler. I'ts probably best you avoid this section until you've cleared the game a few times. I'll keep the descriptions clear enough to be understood by those who've gone through the game. A lot of enjoyment can be had in figuring out a mystery! But if you want a hard answer to some questions, read on. This is not a complete list.

Accessing a specific scene in Extra will add a few extra lines and content during the training scenario with Chizuru and Miki in Episode 2.
As mentioned, (re)obtaining Ayamine's end prior to the training with Chizuru and Miki adds an entire scene.
During the CSSE, alternative scenario's occur based on how you respond when your friend asks about the GG right before the CSSE.
Alternative scenario during CSSE depends on whether or not you have the rope
Choosing to borrow string from the same individual you lent the GG to will result in altered dialogue.
During episode 8, the last scene will have additional dialogue and scenes, depending on what you've done with Ayamine and Sakaki in Extra.
Endings in ULTIMATE will have additional lines and content dependng on what you did with each heroine in EXTRA. There are some prior to the gift and after.
Yashiro will have slightly different dialogue at the end depending on who your selected partner is. This is true of the Normal/Character endings.
In addition to this, body language of different characters changes in different scenarios, sometimes in unexpected and revealing ways. Pay attention or you'll miss it!
In Extra, points may differ based on choices. If your second lunch with Chizuru is your third major interacion, you get two points instead of one. Similar results may apply to other heroines, but have not been found.
In the older version of the game, going home with Tama during the lacrosse arc netted two points, making it more challenging to balance points. This seems to have been corrected in the current version.
Unlimited Points Map
This section is here to make it easier to see how points are distributed.
It reads: Choice#=+/-points (Character applied to) for each possibility.

I found trying to get the lowest score possible to secure a single heroine ending was more interesting than maximizing everyone. Some of the fun might be lost if you haven't explored the game on your own a bit before looking under the hood.

Notes:
Minor spoilers here: You might want to avoid if you haven't already played through Extra/Unlimited at least once.

By default, the person who meets you on the track field will be Meiya, if you haven't completed any of the Extra endings for any of the main heroines. Otherwise if will be the most recent person whose ending you obtained in Extra. This will affect minor changes throughout the first two episodes.

Ayamine's scenario in episode 2 normally only occurs if you start a new game after obtaining Ayamine's ending in Extra. The steam version of the game allows you to bypass this requirement and access this scenario if you haven't yet completed Extra even though it will be Meiya whom Takeru meets on the field. However, once you access any character's ending in Extra, the original requirements are instated. Accessing Common ends do not affect this. They also don't unlock the Extras. Ayamine's scenario originally unlocked some art which would be easy to miss otherwise, but this is bypassed by the All-Ages steam version (Director's cut not tested).

It's never been entirely clear how much of the details and user experience in Unlimited are affected by the choices made in Extra. Some scenes in Unlimited are modified depending on whether you have accessed the corresponding event in Extra. The subtlety in details and minor variations accross similar scenarios help alot with immersion accross the trilogy. For those merely interested in the main narrative, the differences are not significant enough to warrant a revisit, but for fans, these additional details create a well crafted illusion that nips a bit at the fourth wall. Unfortunately, most of the reviews and advice encourage the player to gloss over the details and rush toward Alternative.

Extra is good enough to stand on its own, but its main purpose is to increase the payoff and potential impact of the transtiItion to the later games. This trilogy pays a lot of attention to detail and is very self aware. It's interesting to note that as the user is given less ability to affect the narrative direction of the game, the experience becomes more engaging. While Alternative deserves its praise, this is the game that impressed me with how sophisticated a VN could be.

It's possible in either game to trigger new sub scenarios simply by varying your choices. Often new lines of dialog were encountered even after returning after a long haitus and trying new choices even though all were believed exhausted. This is one of the features that makes this game a masterpiece in my opinion compared to other visual novels. It's put together so seamlessly, it's very easy not to notice the level of detail-precisely because it is so well done.

The proper strategy to use during Unlimited is very different than what you used in Extra. If you follow the same logic that you followed in Extra in Unlimited, as I did, you will likely miss some endings unnecessarily. Each game, interestingly, has a different strategy from the others in how to attain success. Alternative will subvert this a bit more, in keeping with the overall theme of deconstruction which Muv-Luv seems to carry out on different levels.

Since the endings are accessible from the same point (Q26), the only thing that really matters is points accumulated. Interesting scenarios may occur if you select certain people to focus on in certain sections. Nothing major, and easily missed unless you are actively looking out for it.

The easiest way to guarantee an ending is with whom you select as a playmate. This guarantees access to their ending unless you subvert it by allowing them to be as irresponsible as possible in the follow up interactions.

Offering them comfort is the easiest way (without obvious narrative impact) to hedge your bets toward attaining an ending. Chizuru and Ayamine are the best bets if you want to make sure you have access to all endings in one playthrough.

Chizuru is accessible by Q21 if you answered Q5 correctly even if you otherwise ignore her. If you've ignored both Chizuru and Ayamine, Q21 is the tie breaker. My first run through, I did not have access to Chizuru's ending.

Meiya's ending is unavoidable unless you avoid answering any of her questions properly and don't give her any unneeded attention. She also defaults as the ending heroine if you are somehow skillful enough so that none of the other characters have enough points for an end. She recieves a point (surreptitiously) in episode 10. She will have one point at least by the end of the game. She gets another at Q26 if all the characters have only 1 point. If you answer Q7 correctly, you have her end.

Tama is an easy get. You can unlock her ending by Q2, and ignore her the rest of the game and get your ending. Even if you miss one of these questions, you can get her end by Q14 if your previous choices don't remove your ability to choose.

Mikoto can be obtained by Q13, even if you ignore her otherwise.

Ayamine is easy to miss if you never pick her before Q21, or if her scenario in episode 2 is not available.

Finishing Unlimited unlocks the Jukebox and Theatre. Interestingly, if you have not completed Extra at least once, it will not matter since you will not be able to access the extras section from the title screen.

The ending that's not available in the all-age game is actually the Marimo ending, not a so-called "harem" ending.

@Guy Blow I was also wondering about this but I don't think there's actually one from the beginning. https://app.assembla.com/spaces/ixrecMLtl/subversion/source/HEAD/MuvLuv%20Walkthrough.txt and https://forums.fuwanovel.net/topic/796-muv-luv-extraunlimited/ are for the original versions and you can look at them yourself.
