Introduction
Engineer VS Zombie is a unique variant of Zombie Fortress, where Engineers are the survivors and Medics the zombies. The goal is to survive for 7 minutes and 30 seconds as the Engineer. Or, if you are the Zombie, your goal is to kill all Engineers. Engineers can use anything to survive with an exception of Sentries, the Short Circuit and Wrangler. Zombies can only use their melee.
In this guide, I will talk about the basics of the gamemode, the hidden stats of weapons and tips and tricks to master the gamemode.
The Basics
The goal of the gamemode is to survive against the Zombies for 7 minutes and 30 seconds. You do that by finding an easily defendable location or to hide. You defend yourself by building a dispenser. It blocks Zombies from running straight to you and it provides Health and Ammo. A good strategy is to form a colony. A colony is a group of Engineers who defend together. A colony is made by having many Dispensers blocking the way of the Zombies, where some Engineers stand on them to defend and others repair the Dispensers in the front.

Hiding is a risky way of surviving. It provides no defense and once found, Zombies can easily kill you. But since Zombies cannot see Engineers through walls, having a good hiding spot might help you survive.

At the beginning of the round, there is a 1 minute setup. In this minute, you have to decide where you will survive and setting up a defence. When the setup ends, all the doors open and the other stages of the map are unlocked on maps like Dustbowl and Egypt. If there are 5 or more clients connected to the server, the game will choose a few players to be Zombies depending on how many total players there are. Anyone who joins after setup is over will have to play as a Zombie. Spectator has been disabled to prevent ghosting.

The gamemode also awards Engineers who manage to be the last survivors. The last three suvivors get minicrits on all weapons and a 135% speed boost, which is slightly faster than Zombies. The last survivor will get full crits, and the same speed boost. The downside of the Last Suvivor Buffs is that, when you are hiding, the minicrit sound can be heard, giving your position away if someone manages to hear it.

Tips and Tricks - Engineer
  • Stick together, a lone Engineer is faster dead than a group of Engineers.
  • Stay inside your Colony. You might get impatient and go outside to find some Zombies to kill. But you don't know where they are and you can easily be ambushed and get killed. And the Colony is weakend as it just lost an Engineer with his Dispenser.
  • Upgrade the Dispensers in the front first. Those are the ones that will be damaged first.
  • Have an escape Teleporter. When disaster strikers, you need to get out. But stay in the Colony as long as possible, because you might be able to maintain it.
  • Don't place too many teleporters in one area. It becomes harder to stand inside the Colony without being teleported away.
  • Don't have a teleporter if the colony is very small. It will be too easy to accidentally step on it.
  • When hiding, don't use voice commands. Making a sound will give you away. Also, don't tell your location to other Engineers, even when using team chat. They might die and kill you after.
  • The dumber the hiding spot, the more effective it is.
Tips and Tricks - Zombies
  • Do not stack! The biggest mistake players make is stacking. When you all try to destroy the same Dispenser, you just hit each other instead of the Dispenser.
  • Call for a Medic when you found an Engineer, other Zombies will be notified about where he is.
  • Camp Teleport exits. You might find yourself a teleporting Engineer.
  • Right click the Amputator to support your team. Having a "support Zombie" helps a lot.
Special Rounds
Every few maps, a special round occurs. A special round is a round where some core rules about the gamemode are changed. During special rounds, the custom stats are also often different.

The special rounds are:

Whenever someone dies, they join their attackers team. The team with all the players, or has at least 60% of the players when the timer ends wins.

Tag
Every is a scout and up to 4 players are on Blue. Those who are on Blue are IT and must tag someone with their bat before the timer runs out. When the timer runs out, anyone who is on Blue dies and join Spectators, the timer resets but is 5s shorter and new people are picked as IT again. This continues until there is only 1 player left.

The team with all the players, or has at least 60% of the players when the timer ends wins. Damage is scaled based on how unbalanced the teams are. The less players in your team, the more damage you do.
