I have played this game for years at all difficulties with mage, warrior, archer & assassin. This guy is one if the easiest kills even on hardest level. There are two big rocks about the size of bowling balls lying around. Pick either up and throw at his head. Sometimes that will kill him one-shot, other times he is just stunned on ground and you do the prone kill.

I remember having lots of difficulty killing him as a mage, but this time around I just knocked him on his ass with a staff and managed to keep him down

Well I thought he was pretty easy to kill; killed him twice as a mage (and one of those was on hard), at least twelve times as a warrior and I've lost count as an assasin.
As a mage I used the staff from chapter four (still enchanted but within the rules) and kept beating him with it until he either fell (then finish him of) or until adrenalin kicks in (snap his neck).

As a warrior simply hack, slash, chop, stab and kick him until his head comes off. Then kick it at his friends :D.

As assasin, stab his face until adrenalin then either throw a dagger at him or decapitate him.

Hope the info helps ;) .

My tactic: run to door behind him. After both of you have reached one, circumvent him and kick to stairs. He must fall. Just fatality and all's done!

I kicked him in the stomach then stabbed him with my lightning daggers, and they all charged me... Apparently thats considered dishonourable now '-_-

I was playing on hard as a mage (or something like that) and kept dying. I quick saved at the end of the speach. I died so many times al I remember is "ARATOK!!" over and over and over again.
@Boff: I killed him as a mage. The trick was getting the rock and throwing it at his head and then smacking him while he was on the ground, and repeating. Although I think at one point he lost his weapon, so that helped a lot!

died and reloaded so many times. This is a failing of DM, you had to have built up your character fairly well in the combat department to take him down. Otherwise you would have to have been damned good at magic. If you were stealthy....goodness knows what you could have done. First time play through when I shopped for a bit of everything, I couldn't get passed him as I had ALL the wrong character skills, I was forced to start over.

My favorite part in this game was fighting just this guy. It was incredibly intense.
